  1. The model 71 cars started with VIN 2572070, and, in theory, so did the long bumpers, knee trim and long-sided consoles.
  2. Apply handbrake and put car into neutral. hehe
  3. Yes, as per the parts book, the long console began with the model 71 in April '71
  4. The original shocks on my Touring's rear hatch door lasted nearly 30 years. I have just put on the 3rd replacement pair since. Hope the one's on that Leno '02s hood were not supplied by BMW.
  5. +1 Never heard the term Bimmer until I came over to the US.
  6. Can't believe no one's mentioned it yet, so I will.............Hofbraühaus. http://www.hofbraeuhaus.de/en/index_en.html As Mark Knopfler once said (sang) Germany's alreet with me.
  7. FYI The last time I bought seals for my "trap" mirrors they were not even close to being the right shape. It was, maybe, 10 years ago, so perhaps BMW have got it right now.
  8. 2761726 Yep, same pics/details as used in 2014 Ebay auction. Prior (2011) Select Classics resto.
  9. Info that I have:- As stated, the car was originally delivered to Milan, Italy. In 2006 (or earlier) it was in Sweden & reportedly had 93k km (58k) on the motor. It was imported to the US in 2007 and lived in Florida until around 2011 (it had Alpina rims then & only 46k miles). In 2016 Frank's Automotive Service, Costa Mesa had it for sale for $105k, it has increased in price since but remains unsold. I guess European Collectibles is selling it on consignment for Frank, as their description wording is practically identical. Cannot personally verify the above; it is copied from what the various Sellers stated.
  10. Built 22 Dec '75, but, not del'd until 5 Apr '76.
  11. Jim, 2377285 was on Ebay May 2004 and was in San Francisco then. The Ebay Seller's ID was "hosking360" and (did a quick check) is still valid. You could try and communicate with him/her to see who bought it. HTH
  12. The subject of horns is interesting. D.Martijn (in his Touring restoration blog) posted these pics of the horn washers. Recently I had refitted my horns and noted the metal mounting brackets were actually a set of 3 pieces per bracket and one in the set was stamped as shown in the below pic (one for lo tone, & one stamped for hi tone). The BMW Blue Parts Book shows the item 1 horns as "special equipment", so, I guess you got the round horns unless you special ordered????
  13. The spare horn sets that I have are part nos 61 33 1 361 359 & 360. They are noted in the parts book as special equipment (sonderausstatung). If I had realised they were special, I may have fitted them instead of the Lucas ones.....hehe.
  14. The ones I have, even the Lucas ones, are shaped like a horn (number 1 in the attached pic).
  15. There were 3 to a set (per Horn) but only one per set had the stamping on. My Horns are actually Lucas (British and LOUD) but I have a few other correct Hi & Lo horns (Hella, I think). All of them have these metal mounting plate sets.
  16. The Horn Washers are interesting. I guess I must have missed those on my Touring rebuild, but, I did notice the Horn Brackets. There were 3 pieces per bracket and also stamped for either the lo tone or high tone.
  17. I have several sets of tools from my earlier '02s and my current Touring. I believe the spanners/wrenches only had "DIN 895 West Germany" cast on them (plus the size). Later, E21? on, had BMW &/or Heyco cast on them, and the screwdriver was always grey and the correct ones had no slot part way up the handle.
  18. You want $250 for a radio that you have no clue if it works??????????? Gordon Bennett!
  19. The BWA? in the centre......by far the easiest to keep clean.
  20. Fortunately, in TN front plates are not required, so I can go back to my original. If you can't find the bracket that Jim mentioned, you can make one pretty easily.
  21. Look up faq member 02Tom. He was selling these in January. I bought a pair for my heater boxes and they worked out fine.
  22. Wow. $1 for everything! Ok, I see your prices..........scary expensive. What do you mean by reconditioned?
