  1. 74 touring (all tourings Euro) original stock. although I painted rocker panel black hth
  2. I agree, I would still check the idle jet first....pretty easy to do. Mine does the same thing, cleaning the idle jet usually fixes it.
  3. Done this before, but always enjoy sharing pics.. Like "InkaTouring"....at the docks before leaving Europe.. Home with it's Inka "Driveway mate"(who now sleeps under the car cover) Inside New pics from SoCal Vintage meet. Great pics from "f1reverb" Thanks Jay.
  4. You are absolutely right, good catch....now you can see more of it in video.
  5. You are right, it is Laguna Seca. Filmed in 1977. The 917 is a VW kit car made to look like a 917. They filmed in Paris and Monte Carlo, so the countryside is probably France. The 2002 is a Ti. (Did a little homework, since I first posted)
  6. Great fun....Just poking around and found a 2002 racing in a Herbie movie. Check it out in this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x03AcZbUCSg Great Allman Bros music to go along with it. Enjoy, it should put a smile on your face. (I think it first shows up at the 2:30 mark.) Wonderful vintage race cars in this clip. Anyone know where they filmed this. Looks like a lot of SoCal roads. Maybe paramount ranch?

  8. Yeah, he was in California for the Marathon....Looks like he changes his grille though..nice car.
  9. Just saw a light blue, big bumper 02 in ad on "Lost" tonight. Carl's Jr. ad. anyone else see it?
  10. Glad you checked in, Kev. Most of us own these cars, because they are so much fun to drive them. I have been known to drive 250 miles just to get to a place where I can go driving with some other 02s. Of course California has some great road to drive year around. (happens to be 79 degrees F, right now.) You have to get that touring back on the road, they are a lot more fun "in them" rather than "under them". Drove 100 miles just to join this group on a beautiful drive....
  11. Sorry I had to back out.....They are just not doing "No-Doc" loans on avatars anymore, and they wouldn't give me enough for mine to make a down payment. It would have looked really nice in the corner of my posts. By the way, does BMW really stand for "Buy My Wife's" car?? Oh my gosh...duck!!! They are comin' after me.
  12. I may be wrong, but I think that is Norm's ( on this board )
  13. Not true, on my '74 tii, it functions as both as a low brake fluid indicator as well as a parking brake indicator. He was referring to the Euro cars. It looks like my euro 1802 has e-brake, manual choke, maybe low fuel (never run it that low yet), and brake fluid warning (although it looks like someone may have added that. Not really sure about that). My 76 has it for e-brake and low fluid.
  14. I would probably try to bend back the lip at the split then carefully work the lens out without mucking up the gasket. Haven't done it before, the last time the lens was cracked, so no problem.
  15. They are sort of a real PITA. I wouldn't take it apart unless you really have to. I had to replace a broken lense, so I had to. Now I have to try to figure how to clean the other light. See my post at the end of that old thread you dug up. I would suggest trying to clean them carefully through the hole in the back, without taking the lense out. Don't scratch up the "silvering" in the reflector. Keep track of how many turns you move the adjusting screw, so you don't change the headlight alignment too much.
  16. I lubed it up with soap, and used a string around it, put the gasket in the bucket, pressure on the lense, and pulled the string out like installing a front windshield. Similar to Bill's trick, but no bending. Can't remember exactly what the gasket looked like, been awhile. HTH
  17. they are referring to the first three digits of your VIN. 2-36 = Mod 75 year 75, 2-37 = Mod 76 year 75, 2-39 = Mod 76 year 76 automatic, 2-74 = Mod 76 year late 76. See FAQ link http://www.bmw2002faq.com/content/view/13/32/ Good luck
  18. Pat, I have a Blaupunkt Nurnberg. Is there an easy way to connect an MP3 player to it? Have any diagrams or pics of how to do that?? TIA..
  19. Congrats....click the email button next to his name and profile in the post.. you can never have too many faq stickers... the reward will look good on your college applications....j/k again, well deserved reward
  20. You can select the pics as a group and post them at once, using the generate HTML buttons on the bottom of the pages. The 800 x 600 format works well on the message boards. You can play around in the "Test Forum" on the FAQ in the administrative section to see what works. Here is a four click dump of my SoCal Vintage file.
  21. LMAO...great response..If we type very small, are we whispering? I think January 10th should be RIMSPOKE DAY and everyone will type with the CAPSLOCK ON all day in honor of the cars 35th birthday. In fact I will type in LARGE, BOLD, CAPSLOCK ON, INKA LETTERS. HAPPY NEW YEAR...LET'S TYPE FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED.....
  22. Thanks for the heads-up. Pretty cool..I also owned one of the old Volvos parked next to the 02.
  23. Alaska Air used to have some reasonable rates to SB from Seattle. If flying to LAX is a lot cheaper, Santa Barbara Airbus has a route from LAX to SB That runs quite regularly (Every 1 1/2 hrs, approx 2 hr drive, $40-$50). I could pick you up at SB airport or Airbus station. Let me know your schedule. BTW...What car did you buy? I know a few of them around town.
