  1. Sorry guys, now I have a 1st Bday party for my 1st granddaughter at our house on Saturday. Let me know when you are coming through SB on Friday, I will watch out for you. I guess BayArea is out until she gets older or the weekend changes. (let's see now?.....maybe she wants to go on a trip for her birthday, ooooh, look at the pretty orange cars...Ya Think?? Nah, don't even think about it!!)
  2. Many prayers to Mike and his family in this time of great loss...May all memories bring a smile to your face, to ease the pain in your heart.
  3. When you finally accept the reality that it "just isn't going to make it", you will start to relax and enjoy the work again. Keep chipping away at it, but also do something else for awhile. Call some 02 friends that are still going on the caravan and event, and hitch a ride with them and enjoy the weekend. It is really about the people, and that many miles with someone to talk to about life and 02s, can be almost as much fun as driving.
  4. Some of the painters tape artwork at Bimmerfest. your choice of colors.
  5. Great pics, glad you could make it. Good meeting you.
  6. Where was he parked at Bfest, Cris? BTW thanks for all the help.
  7. Don't have too many details, or pics. I hope other board members there took pictures and names. I was too tired fighting off a sea of Late model BMWs driven by high school students trying to grab our "old skool" parking places. But we turned back the tide and were all together in our "Island" of 02 coolness. Had lots of fun. this pic link should give you somewhat the feel of the whole event. http://www.autospies.com/news/2008-BIMMERFEST-PHOTO-GALLERY-Official-Photos-Now-Live-29380/ Here is the Video link. Haven't watched all of it yet, but you can see Steve K and CJ in the very beginning plotting out our parking spaces. http://www.autospies.com/news/VIDEO-Agent-001-Gives-You-A-Tour-Of-The-2008-Bimmerfest-Show-29383/
  8. Another big day at Bimmerfest. Hope others took some pics there. These are from our post-fest drive.
  9. Sorry, been away from computer all day. By now I think you have connected with Andy and the OC group, and I hope you have talked to Ahmed. They are all stopping for breakfast in Summerland around 7:30 and will be calling me from there. CJ, Steve K, and I will be at the showgrounds managing the parking for Vintage/Classic. CJ and I are going in at 7:30 to meet the parking crew. Steve is coming in at 8:00. We will set aside parking for the 02s, E21s, E9s, E12s, E24s. Just get here, we will find a place for you. Drive safe, CHPs thick as flies around here.
  10. A little OT, but it is a BMW. Thought CD would like it. Guy rode it from Mass to Calif years ago. Now has a Body shop in Santa Barbara. What do ya think?
  11. The other polaris is now owned by "KrautByTrade in Colorado" on this board.
  12. So that is the extent of your Bimmerfest cleanup? I at least cleaned all the brake dust off the wheels.
  13. CJ, Steve K, and I will be there early, I think Ron Perry will be there around 8:30. I will talk to the Bfest people on Friday, to see of there can be a "special" entry. If not, get there before the huge SoCal caravan gets there, and we will be waiting inside. I will post, or talk to you before Sat. AM. You can call my cell when you get to Summerland and we will see whats up. They are structuring the entry differently which should speed things up. I think they are only using the entry closest to the car dealers (out by the stables) where they can absorb the influx in two lanes on the showgrounds before they enter the actual parking area. I will know more on Friday or Sat AM. and keep you all informed. Might have you gather at the school next door again if necessary. (one signal up Las Positas from the showgrounds) More to follow.
  14. You guys can just amortize out my extra $20 between all you later arrivals. I will go over early and camp out. I think we can protect the area pretty well. A well placed tire iron should slow down any interlopers. They are bringing the cars in differently this year, so there shouldn't be so much gridlock on the city streets.
  15. Outstanding, looking forward to it. Last time, you weren't an M2. When are you coming down?
  16. I have asked so many questions of the Bfest guys that they appointed me "marshal" of the classic section. I would like to know in advance of any unique 02s coming. Such as Tourings, Turbos, Cabriolets, racing, M2, etc. so we can hold places for them. It is pretty cool when we can keep the different types of classics together. At this moment the 02s are ahead of the E21s, 26 to 25. It would be nice to know of the E9s, E12s, E28s also, if you know of them. I am bringing my EZ-up canopy for a "FAQing hangout at the head of our section. They are nice enough to give us a classic section, it is pretty much up to us to police it, although they are hiring more parking attendants this year. Gonna be fun
  17. If you can get to the back of the lock you can remove the electrical part of the switch by removing 2 flat blade screws. This may require removing the panels under the steering column. There is a plastic piece with a square hole in the center of the switch, that can be turned with a large screwdriver or reasonable facsimile to start and run the car to get you home or wherever you need to go. Hopefully the steering lock is not activated, otherwise you can drive it. The lock can be removed by punching or drilling out the small pin in the bottom, just under the key slot. Hope that helps, good luck
  18. I will try to compile a complete schedule as soon as we get the OC caravan time schedule.
  19. We "SoCal 02 Daily Drivers" don't realize that some don't get this daily pleasure. The only drive more fun than a solo 02 drive, is being surrounded by other 02s. Maybe if everyone drove an 02, the world would be a much happier place. No more road rage, everyone smiling and giving "thumbs-up" to everyone else, rather than anger and the "Finger". Oh well, so much for dreaming. Back to the realities of life, tempered by intermittent drives in the 02.
  20. We will get you out in time to whack that birthday pinata. Allow time to get south, it gets backed up a bit in the afternoon. Catch the OC caravan and join us for Breakfast in Summerland. We will enter early at 8:00am. Those that are coming late or can't pay the double registration fee, we will try to hold spaces for. I am planning to take my "EZ-up" canopy for our 02 central.
  21. I am here, where is everyone?? Oh, a little too early....banners are up at the showgrounds, getting excited.
  22. Very, Very Nice...Steve I know it been a long wait..almost over. Congrats BTW those are HUGE driving lights
  23. More of a gathering, than a show. There are prizes for some of the nicer cars, but there are lots of well loved daily drivers. If it has a Roundel and it's an 02 or something like it, you are welcome to hang out with us.... John C....I hope you are still in your house in Sierra Madre. Everything OK?
