  1. That is good info, I was wondering what would be a good match. Thanks.
  2. They actually do treat us very well. Of the thousands of cars there, we (pre-76) are the only ones that actually have an area that they try to hold exclusively for us. looking forward to it..
  3. 1974 1802 single barrel solex.....GREY 1976 California 2002 2 barrel solex.....BLACK no pic.
  4. I have been delaying my response, awaiting clarification from the BFest folk as to when we can get in. They are planning on an area for vintage BMWs, but as you know, around 9:15am and when the giant caravan from socal arrives, anarchy rules and its everyman for himself. Confusing this, is their new "enter early, pay double" plan, which would make it easy for all of us if we all wanted to pay double. I am trying to negotiate some kind of compromise for us "poor" vintage early arrivers. If we all plan on being in the SB area around 8 am, we can gather somewhere nearby (I have some ideas) and still all enter together, at whatever time they decide. As your "unofficial" spokesman, I will fill you in on the details as they develop. Ray or Andy should know the OC caravan schedule, so the rest of you can hook up with them if you wish. Time permitting, we try to meet up and catch Breakfast in Summerland before heading in (10 min from SB) I am working on a PostFest "classic cruise" in the hills above SB ending with early dinner before everyone heads home again. Details following. Lets keep this in "General Discussion" section so no one misses out. I am sure this thread will become very active the next week. Looking forward to a fun Saturday, May 3rd in Santa Barbara. Now let's hear your 02 cents worth.....
  5. Keith Kreeger used GAHH carpet in "Stella". check out his link http://www.my2002tii.com/2007/index.htm about 1/4 of the way down thread.

  7. Steve, email me through the board, if you can't find one, I can scan the article in mine and send you a PDF of it.
  8. Boy, look et the size o' dem shock towers.....Definitely "Magnum" size..
  9. Sorry, been reading too many wine descriptions.....
  10. ditto. black wheels work on very few cars double ditto. IMHO there is nothing better than period correct vintage silver wheels on inka 02's. 13"Factory steel wheels 13"100+ turbine wheels with black centers Looked better on my 76 13" Ronal 4 spoke vintage wheels My Favorite look The soft silver look on the wheels, contrasted with the orange and black and subtle shiny chrome on the car is the perfect balance. I think shiny chrome wheels would be too much.
  11. Don't wait too long, that looks like a pretty good driver, pretty good price..
  12. Thank you very much, Bill.....I now feel TOTALLY inadequate... Beautiful car, beautiful job I still have more corgi's than you, but they still can't hold a wrench yet...And I thought they were smart.
  13. If it is a solid car, and fun to drive, the only problem comes if you are going to sell it. Then you might lose some money. Go find a "twisty" road and drive it, you will soon forget the pain of being misled. With a salvage title, it may limit how much more money you want to sink into it. But, like I said, if you don't intend to sell it soon, it is not an issue. I have owned two 02's, one since new, and haven't sold any yet. Just can't part with them.
  14. Bimmerfest has been primarily late model BMWs. Only recently have we been getting a good "vintage" group, including 02s. In the past they have reserved a certain area for the older cars, while all the others parked wherever they could. It is a great event, but not 02 specific like the BayArea02 Swap and Show. Each year we get more and more 02s. Last year I think we had at least 50 of them. This year we hope to have more. We tend to gather with all the other pre-76 BMWs. It is pretty amazing to see thousands of BMWs converge on Santa Barbara. This year I am going to try to organize a casual classic cruise on some of the Santa Barbara scenic backroads after the fest. FestWest is a 02 event that had met in San Luis Obispo every September for the last 15 years, but the organizers have taken the last couple of years off. It is a big job to arrange one of these events and I believe they were getting a little burned out. There is talk of a SoCal 02 gathering in the future, but that is still in the planning phases. Hope you can make it to Bimmerfest, it is definitely quite an event.
  15. You could start a new fad......AntiDubs, or the smaller the wheels, the better....nice lift kit. You could bring it up to Bimmerfest, but boy, you would be tired..
  16. Looks very very nice. It will be interesting to see how well the engine compartment cleans up. Keep us posted. Bringing it down to Bimmerfest??
  17. I am waiting......where is everyone??? Just a little early. I am planning a post-fest classic cruise for the 02s and other vintage BMWs. Just a casual drive around some of the more twisty and scenic backroads of SB. Probably end at a Pizza Parlor for dinner and hanging out. What do ya think? Everyone planning on going, e-mail me with your tentative schedules. I usually drive to Santa Maria on Friday afternoon to join the NorCal group when they arrive.
  18. Absolutely right. Unless you like working on them more than driving them, spend a little extra and let the previous owner absorb the cost of the restoration. I have had my 76 since new, and have a huge list of stuff I would want to do if I had the time and could afford it. (Which never happens) When I bought the Touring I paid a little extra and made sure that there was nothing that "had" to be done, and the paint and body were in superb shape. I have never regretted that decision, and spent the last two years IN the car, driving....not UNDER the car working on it. The greatest joy of 02 ownership is driving them...
  19. Just hate it to end, don't you?? Now, how to get that darned smile off your face. Glad you are on the road again. I am always looking for places to drive the Touring, besides back and forth to work. Because it is just so much fun. My latest side trip.
  20. Joe, Come up to Bimmerfest next month 5/3 in Santa Barbara, https://eventreg.bimmerfest.com/events.php?action=eventdetail&EvId=1. Hang out with the 02 crowd for the day, they will be happy to answer all your questions.
  21. My 74 touring has headlights like the middle one. Had my right one out the other day to replace the broken lense.
  22. You can get all that and a hatch thrown in with a 74 touring (and the round lights are bigger)
  23. And the other CSL is rarer that the inka one.....It is an Alpina CSL.. I still "thinka" Inka is purrtier....
  24. Looks like he is taking a "Whiz" back there.....
