  1. I really like Jeffrey's Touring. Very clean look with those wheels. I guess The Netherlands must be Mecca for tourings...That would be fun to visit. The White California Touring with the Rally gear is Daniel's (mojojoy) We don't have mountains that spectacular in Santa Barbara.
  2. That is a pretty cool picture. Looks like about 18 or 19 of them. We could probably come up with almost that many in California if we all could get together at once.
  3. Just when you thought you knew everything... Possibly the later models or maybe just the 1802's had this. Personally, I would rather be warned about my hydraulic fluid being low (a safety issue), rather than a light telling me that I haven't looked at the fuel gauge (a common sense issue).
  4. You MUST do that, we have a good group of Tourings in California. Have to go up to SLO together. Some SoCal Tourings. (Clickable Thumbnails) Some NorCal Tourings:
  5. I only have the low Brake fluid level, choke, handbrake light functions on my 74. No low fuel light. Unless I just haven't run it down that low yet. I do know that those gas tank floats can be pretty sticky in the sending units. Sometimes I think they get leaky and refuse to float anymore. Will be interested in the solution. Give Les your info...He is trustworthy, I have only been spammed 1000 times since I gave him mine. J/K.. Seriously, it is a good database. Where are you located??
  6. 1st Tourings produced in April 71 and they were tii's. Never sold in the US. Good luck in your quest.
  7. I would love to see them together someday. Hmm...now if I drive to Kansas, and Bill drives to Kansas...Nah, that's a long drive with a 4 speed and a 4:11 diff.
  8. The ONLY reason I couldn't make it. Introducing Emily Grace, my first granddaughter. Born 5/18/07 I have to convince her to celebrate her birthdays in Palo Alto from now on. Missed you all...
  9. Gassed up and ready to go. Sounds like a great idea.
  10. Now if you have a LOT of tape this might solve your problem. You can check out my "flappy old bra" when you come thru SB Friday. Welcome to use it if it would help.
  11. It looks like it only works for bugs and dirt. Not much rock protection though. Which is usually the only thing that can really hurt paint. You are welcome to borrow the "bra" from my 76 if you like. It looks like the one John has on his Golf Tii in the pic I posted in the Caravan thread. They tend to flap around some, which just annoys me so I won't be using it on the touring. I've made the run North a few times now, and usually just hit bugs, which clean off pretty easily. Most of the rocks seem to aim at my windshield.
  12. Link to the other SoCal Caravan to Palo Alto thread: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/t,290294/
  13. Bump for Roll call and time schedules. Lets fine tune this caravan thing with Names, even if you are just a maybe, and general departure and location times. There is nothing as much fun as driving up the road with a bunch of 02s..well, maybe some things, but we won"t talk about that. The more the merrier. So, speak up SoCal 02s.
  14. Thanx, Jeremy....come up and introduce yourself at Palo Alto...
  15. Did you mean early Fri Morning? You would have to get up awfully early saturday to make it to Palo Alto by 9 am . I think we would try to get away from SB around noon depending on everyones schedule. No later that 1:30-2:00. That should put us in the Bay Area by evening. What do you think. E-mail if you wish..I think you touring really wants to go, you need to find a driver.
  16. Yeah, there is Jon. We are thinking of doing something like last year. With a regroup in Santa Barbara if you guys want to go up the 101. How soon can you leave home? missed you at Bimmerfest.
  17. that horn ring should just pry off in one piece... then remove the big nut under it and it should all pull right off.
  18. Try throwing the points back in. My 76 with 32/36 improved greatly without the Pertronix. It must have gotten fried at some point, and points solved the problem. A cheap fix and worth a try.
  19. It was absolutely my pleasure, Paul. I will get down to Newport Beach to hang with all of you at Cars and Coffee.
  20. Then there was Paul Cain's Masterpiece and a short post-fest drive and photo ops.. spectacular weather, great day
  21. I checked with Jon (Bimmerfest) about trailers, this is his suggestion: " The only logical place for trailers to unload attendee's cars will be down at Lot C past the stables and Marquee at Earl Warren on Calle Real." Lot C is one driveway north of the main gate. I live less than a mile from the showgrounds, if there is any problems. Andy W. has my cell #. Looks like a good weekend.
  22. That was great Evan, Now you need to do a Bimmerfest one.. Where are you staying in SB? email me a cell#
