  1. They really came out nice. I always like a original looking interior. I know what you mean about the sound quality out of that one speaker. Not up to what the I-pod is putting out. I am still trying to work that one out. But at least your console isn't cluttered up with Flashing blue lights, tape decks, or cd players.
  2. Josh, If I remember correctly, the wire connects to the choke cable at the control on the dash next to the steering column. It is probably grounding somewhere under the dash where you "hid" it. It is listed as Brown/Black in my German touring manual. I believe that the BR-SW designation means Braun (brown) wire with a Schwarz (black) stripe. I have attached a scan of that part of the manual. good luck
  3. Driving home and saw this by the beach Looks like it is giving birth to the Inka Touring. What a "Wienie" Nice "Buns" too. Look how happy she is to see her "Baby" She rides off into the sunset Bye Mom....
  4. about 7 posts down in this thread....http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,270500/ about a year ago...enjoy
  5. Drive like an "April Fool".....good luck, be safe..
  6. I don't know about you San Francisco "Guys". All this talk about Pink, Drag, BrokeAss Mountain, and Jan taking everyone out and getting "butterflies". I am very, very concerned about you...
  7. Mine came with the car. (1805 Touring,'74) although the radio may be later 1979. I believe ccr's came with the radio. He will have to confirm or deny that.
  8. mine looks like yours...set out a little. I believe it is the original factory mounting.
  9. Rob is referring to his Inka touring and it's tailights.....It looks like mine #3410837
  10. Trunk??.....you got a Trunk?? Has to stay up front in the touring.. as a side topic: How do you solve this problem with a touring?
  11. First...my apologies to all for my part in contributing to the misinformation in this thread. Comes from engaging my keyboard before clearly thinking through the problem. However, it sure got me thinking and digging for the truth. My conclusions: everything I have read confirms Jim's post. Unlike American cars, 02's adjust for different diffs by using different speedos. There was an excellent thread in November discussing the markings on the back of the Speedo and what Diff. they match up with. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,282485/highlight,speedometer/ One area not discussed is the odometer reading....If it is reading correct, then we have the correct speedo (which is likely), but the speed readout is faulty and needs repair. At this point, I will step away from my keyboard and let more knowledgable FAQ'ers take it from here. It has been enlightening and the new search function really works well...try it.
  12. I am not saying that the actual Tranny Ratios change, just that the speedo system has to have variations to accomodate the change. I really don't know where it happens, in the speedo or in the cable drive from the tranny. I am assuming that the change must be in the tranny, or Michael wouldn't be having any problems. Unless, he is witholding some important info from us. But, there, obviously, is some difference. It makes my head hurt too. I enjoyed meeting you guys, but honestly, without FAQ nametags, I didn't know it was you until I got home and had time to read all the handouts. Had a great time converting Km's to Miles and back.
  13. The "donor" tranny may have come from a car with a 4:11 diff. and speedo geared accordingly. Is that different than yours?? That would effect the final speedo reading. a 4.11 would read 66mph at 4K, a 3.64 would read 74mph at 4K. The tranny doesn't know what diff you have. it just sends the output revolutions to the speedo according to its original diff.
  14. Looks like the gypsy "traveler" encampment on the new TV show "The Riches". Did you check to see if you still had your wallet??
  15. Just put on another 850 miles up to the Shamrock Rally and back, Fri nite and Saturday. Now that was a long cruise. Great fun though.. got close to 28 mpg coming home avg. 70 mph. that is with a 4 speed and 4:11 diff.
  16. Pics of some of the participants in the Shamrock...Click on the Thumbnails
  17. Thanks Steve, for a great day. Glad I got top billing. Can't wait for more pictures. It is hard to take pictures when you are having so much fun driving. Here is what was following me... Arrived safely back in SB by 7:30 PM in time for dinner. Got a few more I will post later..
  18. This green one is Dominic's, he occasionally visits the board.. He was going to UCLA I believe. Did it look like this?
  19. This is a little off your original question, but make sure that you carefully check out all the battery wires and grounds before investing in a new starter. I replaced a starter, which is a pain, and later found that it was poor connections in the wiring. Do a search, there are good suggestions to R & R the starter. Of course, when the cheap rebuilt starter I used, failed. I had a perfectly good one in the trunk to replace it. Here is a thread link to check out http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,282924/highlight,starter/ There is another useful link within that thread. Good luck
  20. These were done Krylon Dull Aluminum with lots of Krylon Crystal Clear on top.
  21. New "Bimmer" magazine (May 2007) has a good article on John Barlow (FAQ screenname O==00==O) and some of his many cars. Featured 4 of them, including the Touring. Enjoy.. Good article, John..came today in the mail. Magazine looks like this:
  22. Tourings love to be out anytime, you can almost see them smile...at least everyone seems to smile when they see the Touring..
  23. Actually, on my '76, the light will not come on if one of the wires on top of the brake fluid reservoir is disconnected or broken, when the fluid reaches the proper level, it breaks the connection. I agree, check the brake fluid level, that is usually the first reason the light stays on. If your car has a manual choke, that will also activate that light. Whatever reason, I am sure it is not the Hazard switch. If you uncover the emergency brake, you can see the switch at the rear of the mechanism. Check that, and the wires leading to it. Good luck,
