  1. Welcome Adam, For those that didn't post pics, you can find more of them here...when we were last asked to "post pics of cars" ... we love to do that. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,281760/highlight,picture/ old pic of both inkas..
  2. Those guys were just crawling along, not to mention that the camera car was weaving all over too. The alfa was probably stuck behind them for a couple laps of the roundabout before he got frustrated and whipped past them..
  3. I will not be responsible for the "coupe purchase"...only 02's. Your mother will now want to "drive" the coupe, she won't put up with you sticking her in the back seat all the way to Monterey, like you do in the 02. By the way, how did two guys get three cars back from Fresno??
  4. I believe you are referring to the infamous "Thermal Reactor" that all us 76 california 02 owners have grown to despise. You are experiencing the "oh, they all do that" cracking of all the welds on this stainless steel nightmare. Had mine welded up numerous times. finally replaced it with a cast iron exhaust manifold that still used the air injection. Sure is a lot quieter. Used the later model combination Gasket/HeatShield. Most Smog inspectors wouldn't know a thermal reactor if they saw one. Still have to old one around if absolutely necessary to get the 76 smogged. Ah...the joys of California 76 2002 ownership. Sure appreciate my 74 touring.
  5. On a bigger scale...Bimmerfest07 registration is open http://www.bimmerfest.com/events/2007SB/2007sb.php Cinco de Mayo 5/5/07. Each year we have more and more 02's. And by the way, Creighton...We just need a reason to gather. Come to the Left Coast and we will get some 02's together.
  6. Show me your "roundies" and I will throw some beads... I know, I know...all you have are squaries...I guess your "Big Bumpers" will have to suffice..
  7. and yet another use for those big bumpers...Do those speakers come standard with the MGP option??
  8. You can't have a picnic on the small bumpers..... They are good for tailgate parties too. Just plunk your hibachi on the rear bumper. You can also line up your beer cans on them. Seriously, they do protect you from all the "idiots" that we have to drive around with daily.
  9. If you noticed, he even got the back wheel off the ground...great pic..
  10. There is a great book out about "barn finds" called The Cobra in the Barn. http://www.motorbooks.com/Store/ProductDetails_32540.ncm Has lots of stories like that. Saw it at "Barnes" and Noble.. Motorbooks.Com is one of our FAQ Affiliates.
  11. YES STEVE....!!!! Which also a/effects (couldn't remember which) IDLE. If you do not have proper power to the idle solenoid your car will not idle as well as shut off properly. The idle jets in a 32/36 are most commonly run with a lead from the coil or #12 fuse which is hot in start & run. If you don't have power at idle you will never get a proper running motor - regardless of plugs, points, timing.... Fuel, Air & Spark - Check the fuel & air because spark is nothing without them. Idle Solenoid will be a little tiny male prong on the side of the carb. Jump it with a 12+ lead and listen for a relay-type click. Thanks for the confirmation..I don't know "affect"/"effect" either. One or the other. I hope the problem is that simple. Good luck, Guys.
  12. I am far from an experienced mechanic...but my 76 with the 32/36 would act that way when one of the fuses was not connected or blown. It would barely Idle or not at all, had to keep revving it up. Check to see if all your gauges (gas & temp) are working. They are on the same fuse that gave me the problems. I don't have the car here so I can't give you the fuse #. I think it affects the Idle solenoid which prevents "run-on" when you shut it off. If there is no power to the solenoid, it cuts off the fuel to the idle circuit. Check to see if that is working. Sometimes the wire comes off or doesn't connect properly. Good luck,
  13. Don't know what they all are, but snapped these at the hwy 33 "Pumpkin Run" . Gordon's "02 Wannabee" is hiding in here too. These are thumbnails..click to enlarge. enjoy..
  14. Stock steel wheels, 5 inch front/ 5.5 inch rear 165x13 tires Stock suspension 100+ Wheels 5.5 inch, 185/70R13 tires. Some rub into driveways. Ronals 4spoke, 185/70R13 tires stock suspension. Very slight rub if pushed hard to the suspension limit. By the Way......I Love the Ronals. Just the look I want.
  15. Bimmerfest is May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) in Santa Barbara. I guess I will have to start planning a "02BQ" post-fest party. If anyone is planning to stay overnight around SB, get reservations early.
  16. Yeah, they do all seem to sit a little high in the front. I don't know why. They look even higher when they have the stock tires and steel wheels on the front. Mine seemed to level off a bit when I put slightly wider tires and Ronals on it. I think lower roof and slanted back also make the front appear higher. The standard 02 has a level roof and decklid. That is the 02 image we are used to. They always look higher when you photograph them from the front. They look lower in the front if you photograph them from the rear. All touring are "roundies" even the later models, and their tailights are larger than the regular 02 round tailights. (just some "Touring trivia")
  17. Newer front end, or newer car.....Yes?? I'll take the driving lights..
  18. Looks like they got my 76 02 in that e-bay picture too. That was taken at Bimmerfest in SB last April. Jan's car inspired me to get the Touring. Terrible sickness.... Next year I will park the touring next to Jan..
  19. I like the way your lights are centered (vertically) on the side grills.
  20. I was referring to the charming children washing the car....future detail experts. Looks like Hueneme. Here is my car and Jon Nunez's at Hueneme. Lousy cellphone pic.
  21. Thanks for the useful advice, so far.. I am leaning towards the Oscars, I like the look of Jan's Touring. Josh, did the "compact car washers" come with the Touring too?? I didn't get that option with mine. Are these also Super Oscars?? this is Jan's M2.. Jon_uk... here are some more views of Jan's Touring. They are thumbnails, click on them Thanks and keep the responses coming..
  22. My Touring seems to be screaming out for some kind of driving lights. I would like to keep it "period correct" if possible. I need to know how to best wire them, and attach them (I would rather not drill holes in the bumper). Here is the "naked" front end Jan's (Pichos1) hugh light Alpina Tom Stephenson's original/sportspacket look or, Jonathan's Tii Then there is Jan's "Aristo - Luigi". Maybe a little more than I need. Not the only options, just trying to make up my mind what I want. 1. Type of light, and where to get. 2. How and where to mount. I know some have mentioned a way to mount through the grill. 3. How to wire. Thanks in advance for your opinions, because I know you will share them. Who knows? This might become a FAQ article by the time I am done.
  23. That's a relief...I thought we were going to have a "There's Something about Mary" " Is that Hair Gel??" moment..
  24. I guess she didn't believe your excuse that the Physical Therapist recommended it, did she?? Speedy Recovery...keep practicing the clutch and brake movements...
