  1. Mine did the same, just off enough to make you wonder. I think it is just some "slop" in the mounting screws. Didn't feel like taking it apart again.
  2. after some preliminary disassembly, I tapped out the rearmost screwgear, it has a little ball in the body of the speedo holding it in. Cleaned up the nylon gear that was inside the speedo. It was a little stripped looking, but just redefined the cogs. Reassembled everthing, and then it worked again.. Good luck,
  3. Amen to that......not only as a corporate philosophy, but as a life philosophy.. Drive on..
  4. Some of us are gathering in Santa Barbara Fri. afternoon (5/19). Leaving for NorCal at 6:00 PM. Up the 101 to Sunnyvale for the night Staybridge Suites, Sunnyvale. The hotel is right at the intersection of 101 and 237. In the morning, after our complementary breakfast, we plan on meeting up with as many 02's as we can and caravaning up to Palo Alto (15 min). We intend to be at the event before 9:00 AM. We welcome any others to join us at any point in our journey. Or let us know if there are any other groups on the way to connect with. Our hotel seems to have plenty of parking for a meet point before the event. After the event we are joining with the Dubois Hollister BBQ and Drive. After Hollister, we will head back south, with a rest stop in SB for those going further. I can put some of you up Saturday night in Santa Barbara if it is late. E-mail me with any more info, or if you want to join us. Or, just post your plans.
  5. You mean out in the pasture with Michael's "Horny Turkey"?? Try to explain to your insurance company those scratches, when he starts humping the V50.
  6. Speedometer always worked but Odometer stopped at 9353 mi., 30 years ago. Never saw any reason to fix it. Felt ambitious tonight and took the speedo apart and fixed the odometer. Very excited to see it turning again. Now I can figure out how far my $3.40 per Gal. regular will take me. Really easy fix. I am alway amazed how simple these cars are. You can pop those gauges out in about 2 minutes, and have the speedo dismantled in a couple more. Cleaned everything up while I had it apart. Now I will know how far Palo Alto is from Santa Barbara next week.
  7. Those VIN's sound like they are pretty much the last of the "roundies"
  8. others might get you closer, but the FAQ VIN link gives us this "Series Mod 71 Year 1973 built From Jan-73 to Aug-73 Vin # 2-587-308 thru 2-593-704, 6397 Built" so I suspect that it is close to Jul or Aug 73. You are in the last 507 built of that group

  19. Will there be special "Steve only" parking spaces. Maybe we could rename this the "Steve, or friend of Steve Shindig" "Steves will rule the universe" We should try to find some of those stick-on name tags, "Hello, my name is Steve". When meeting people, we can just ask, "Steve, or not Steve?" My thoughts exactly...probably get a bulk rate from Steves R Us..Steve??...or no Steve??
  20. There is always room for more INKA sunshine in California. We will look for you in Palo Alto..
  21. Will there be special "Steve only" parking spaces. Maybe we could rename this the "Steve, or friend of Steve Shindig" "Steves will rule the universe"
  22. Agreed.... I am taking the liberty of letting the SoCal travelers know of your great hospitality. (I hope that is OK) We would be happy to share in the expenses if you desire. I will try to help in the headcount.
  23. Of course you NEED to go. Consider it an important Business trip. I know you will be taken care of if you can get over here to the "left" coast. they are a great group. You also NEED to get to the dubois get-together afterward.
  24. Some of us are trying to decide whether to come up fri nite, or blast up Sat am from SoCal. I know we went up with some of you last year from Santa Cruz thru Half Moon Bay. Fun...are you doing it again?? or are those south of Palo Alto going up together? Just in case there are a bunch of us staying somewhere south of Palo Alto fri nite.
