    That wasn't a parade, it was the SoCal caravan trying to get into the Showgrounds. We got there early, and they let us in before the gates opened. It helps when you have the event organizers cell phone #..

    That was a pretty funny thread.. They were referring to Cris's car in that thread, which is not an Alpina, but they were impressed nonetheless.

    It was a pretty awesome '02 group. Alpina tii touring, M2, Turbo, Widebody. then there was little old me, Stock daily driver.

    Yeah, you did the right thing, the Palace is good, everyone likes to go there. We like a restaurant 2 doors from the Palace, called Square One. So new, they don't even have a name on the place yet. Glad you enjoyed our town, we will do it again.

    A few of us took a short drive after Bimmerfest. These are some pics taken by Jason, who came up with Alex (t0fudelivery), and was riding w/me. Thanks Jason for the pics.

    great pictures, Nick. It was a real pleasure meeting, and hanging out with everyone. I think this was the start of a great reawakening among the '02s in California, especially SoCal. Have to keep it up.

    It is interesting to browse the Bimmerfest06 site. There are many other photos, and some very positive comments about the presence of the "classic" cars, especially the '02s. link to Bimmerfest Site

    Both the M2 and the Alpina Touring belong to Jan Echeverri (pichos1), who won 3rd place in the Classic Division of the "Battle of the Bimmers" with the Alpina Touring tii. Chris Padagas (cj) won 1st place. '02s almost swept the division. here are a few more pics of our "Tour de Santa Barbara"

    It is interesting to observe the attitudes of the non-caravan cars on the road. Some of them get real "pissy" and they are the ones who do not leave any room to get in.

    Yeah, it has had its "ups and downs". (pretty bad, huh?) I still have the dent in my trunk from where the spring broke many years ago. That was before they put those retainers inside the springs. My wife is pushing for new garage doors, as well as floors and cabinets. Got a third space to the left of that. But you know how that is......Storage

    On the way down from Santa Maria with the NorCal caravan, we have to pass through a well-known Radar trap area on the 101 near Los Alamos. You come over this rise, and there he is,the CHP, sitting under the trees with his rear facing radar. Only this time as over a hundred BMW's drive by, he is giving a ticket to some workman in his Pick-up truck. Unusual sight, it is usually the other way around. Drive Safe, See ya tomorrow
