  1. Try this: http://www.bayarea02.com/techtips/320_wheel/index.html
  2. I didn't get an email reply--are these wheels still available? Thanks!
  3. somehow I don't ever remember "The frissive crinkling of moldy sleeping bags the first time you kissed a boy at summer camp" Good article but they could have shortened it by eliminating about 85 adjectives.
  4. There was a post about these a few weeks ago...My set worked great except for when I broke several of the new green clips when installing. Be sure to line up the clips and holes perfectly as they don't come out of the plywood very easy once broken! Well worth the money.
  5. agggghh. I had one FS for about a year Jake but sold it a while back... bummer.
  6. Hi Mike, the passenger 1/4 I bought for my 68 back in 2009 was roundie specific.
  7. For a short time about a year ago they were ~$140 each. I should have bought 20. I would say a used original set (they should have a date stamp on the inside) without bends or cracks with nice lips might be worth $500 if they can be used as is. If they need truing and refinishing, forget it, it's cheaper to buy new.
  8. most of the distinctive exterior date clues are gone but based on the rear view mirror mount and tail badge placement it is a 67. The forward position door mirror is also mostly found on 67s. Hope it was saved.
  9. Are the miles since last rebuild or? If the engine is already out of the car, it's somewhat a leap of faith. If you know the person and trust them it could be worth $600 as is, but naturally $4-500 is a little sweeter of a deal. Also it's an M10 with probably a E12 head.
  10. I particularly enjoy the "RACE" check boxes for Kentucky. Let's say for a moment that you didn't identify with any of the provided choices. Would you just indicate "Harlequin Edition" ?
  11. That Golf is freaking awesome. There was one in Indy in the late 90's. Oh yeah, I like your paint job too! Ben
  12. I used the roll from Home Depot on my 91 Dodge along with a top layer of metallic bubble wrap stuff with all seams taped with aluminum tape. I don't think it smells, but it's an old truck so I didn't really care if it did.
  13. This item is a summer/winter box from a very early car. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,download/id,68991/ Also interested in lot of badges if first person backs out. thank you.
  14. I have never seen a Florida 2002--most of the strange(er) colors were ordered up only on the 1600. Per my XI.68 colors brochure these were the standard choices: Bristol Tundra Metallic (extra charge) Baikal Metallic (extra charge) Nachtblau Metallic (extra charge) Colorado (2002 TI only) Nevada Polaris (extra charge) Granada Florida Atlantic Chamonix Schwarz Sahara
  15. Well that explains the lack of response from my request to purchase email earlier today. Thanks for the heads up.
  16. per my comment on elasticity above, yes--there are cons/risks with using old vinyl. If you can find a good piece of material, then you avoid a mis-match on your passenger seat--let's say it lasts 3-4 years--hopefully you have enough leftovers to do it again! It does look like your seat pad is almost gone--the other poster is right, you need a new seat pad or lots and lots of foam to build it back up.
  17. Place a WTB add in the WTB forum for rear seat material of this same year/color. Have the seller remove the material from the seat back and cushion and ship it to you in a box. Take this material to an upholstery shop along with your seat. Have them take the seat apart, replace the center section with the new material, add some additional foam padding on top and cover the underside that touches the springs with burlap. The only additional expense over the idea you described above is the cost of the used seat material. There are a lot of old roached out upper seat backs out there that would be perfect donors for a re-freshened driver's chair. Be certain that whatever vinyl you buy still has some elasticity or it will split very quickly all over again.
  18. I have a 2 band set that I would sell. Let me know if you want details. Ben
  19. my chamonix car was painted beltline down by the PO in 2005, everything above was original. I thought the paint matched very well but when I did my recent restoration I repainted the whole car since the back half needed to be painted completely. I would say that the single stage line of 085 chamonix that my guy used is much crisper white than what I normally see, I think it's a combination of older white paint aging and my white being a tinge too white. If you can get someone to match it, go for it as it will save the fuss and bundles of cash.
  20. New outer rings from BMW look to be ~$80 a pop...you might be able to use your cores and have them re-chromed if you have a shop that will do the work nearby. On the other hand, brand new is less hassle. Ben
  21. What parts are you looking to get rechromed? Just the outer rings? Sure they can be rechromed but I doubt you'd save any money over new. If you are talking about the inner divider strips on the lenses, try to polish them with 0000 grade steel wool. It might be better to just find a nicer used set from a FAQer with a WTB advert.
