  1. Quick plug for the seller and product: I have a set of these and the BMW re-issues...they look and feel identical!
  2. you'll be happy with the new correct all metal emblem....the blue is creamy and beautiful...a slightly different hue than the hood....who knows why. Ben
  3. Thanks Celk06--my dash in my project is moderately cracked--looking for alternatives. Thanks!
  4. Hi hplug, I emailed you thru the FAQ but the cc: message ended up in my spam folder--assuming the same will happen with your email. I'm interested in pictures & price, please email me direct if you can at: m o b i l e t r a d i t i o n at GM a i l . Co m
  5. Skip--I'm a just a cosmetic improver...I trust the pros for the rest!
  6. My Room is BOOKED... Now I really need to get moving on my 68 project, stay tuned MidAmericers:
  7. They are NLA but you CAN order a brand new early 1602 badge from Max, Blunt, or any dealer, P - 51 14 1 817 408 -------------LABEL ACL HSG JCW ''1602'' 03/1966 - 08/1973----------
  8. Thanks Mike! We have Ace Hardware here, great selection, but nothing this small. Ben
  9. --Early, 2002 specific dogdish cap and frosted trim ring (silver painted areas over anodized aluminum) (cap should be painted silver on top only, sides left polished "chrome") --Early 1600 dogdish cap and trapezoid-ish trim ring (anodized aluminum) --Standard late 2002/1600 full wheelcover
  10. I'm refurbing a set of trunk boards and I've lost the tiny screws and Hollow / Finishing Washers that hold down the RT side (over gas tank) Anyone know the screw size and/or have a source for a replacement finishing washer? I checked with the local hardware store and the sizes they had on hand were much too large. This is post from 2008 where a similar topic is discussed but for the larger screws and washers used for consoles: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,300565/ Thanks! Ben
  11. Yes, I've had this problem with gmail. Most, but not all, of the emails from FAQers sent via the forum are going into my Junk/Spam folder. This started about 10 days ago. I posted a message about it, but at the time it looked like I was the only one: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/p,898751/ Ben
  12. CD: Those oddball rings on the cabriolet above made it into the marketplace at some point...here they are installed on my 1600.
  13. All I can say is, WOW......... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-2002-2002-1974-BMW-2002-/110802854399
  14. My guess is it had new door seals and they just didn't get the door shut when the photo was taken. Unless I have the vent window cracked, it is very hard to shut the door on the fist try on my 1600 that has replacement seals also done in 2009. Trunk needs some alignment to get the beltline trim to look right on this car. This car will probably get purchased by a vintage dealer and put on his/her lot at 8K more than they paid, they will sit on it for a long time and then end up selling it for about what they had in it. my guess.
  15. I thought the same thing, but the configuration of 4 sets of 2 long rounded rectangles together separated by a "spoke/bump" in the ring looks like it might be the same. Very hard to tell on the old advert scan out of a book I had. Mike Self, please chime in! I'll take a reference picture of the two style of rings I have on hand a post a pic later.
  16. Possibly looking to purchase 3 piece dash components. I do not need the instrument cluster binnacle, just the two larger sections, but will consider anything. Please contact me via email button above or direct at -- mobiletradition AT gm A i L DOT C o M -- if you have something in your stash. Pictures, crack/condition report and asking prices would be extra helpful. Thanks! Ben
  17. You have only pictured "Band 1", do you have the second binder "Band 2" that completes the set? The yellow pages up front show the TOC for each binder, please post more info. thanks!
  18. Somebody jump in this....that's a great discount over the cost of new!!
  19. Here they are as shown in the March 11, 1966 issue of Autocar. They are completely different from the all anodized versions shown in CD's post above and somewhat similar in concept to the rings that were anodized/frosted that came on early 68 2002 models...I've never seen these before on an actual car. They might have been pre-production items.
  20. They look like solid disk trim rings with the standard 1600 dogdish. Maybe stainless instead of aluminum? IIRC, something similar was used on the early NK cars?
  21. Neat wheels, any idea what the offset or backspacing would be? Any date stamps on the insides?
  22. Hmmm..perhaps you could just trade it in on one of Esty's extra 02s?
  23. I ordered two brand new mounts from Blunt that are for the very early bumper, I would consider using the brackets that align to the style/type/year of chrome bumper you plan to use. iIRC, the mounts were less than $20 each. Ben
