  1. I just installed stage 1 and HDs on my project car, not driven many miles before sending off for paint -- can you elaborate on the "slop" you experienced on your car? Ben
  2. Super Cool. I made a similar work shirt last year from scratch. Nice find, there are some dealership plate frames on eBay right now from the same dealership--fYI -Ben
  3. I purchased it on June 14, 2010 from amazon. I guess they are now adding a chapter on modern 4 cyl swaps from wrecked 2012 Z4s.
  4. I have this harness from a 72 Standard I'd be willing to sell:
  5. BOTH ITEMS SOLD -- THANKS FAQERS! SOLD -- Very Early, Blau Chrome Locking Gas Cap, NOS w/ Box and two keys SOLD =====> "Fur BMW 1600 ab 1966" <==== SOLD -- Very Nice Hella US Spec Headlight Buckets, all adjusters work, studs intact, chrome eyebrows are excellent, $90 Shipped
  6. I had a similar problem so I ordered a new 14V regulator from the dealer. This worked fine for me. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,363317/
  7. I think 5K will be a stretch in most markets, I previously sold this 96 328i 5 speed with lots of upgrade bits (Contour Reps, Borla, H&R, Billy Sports, Dinan Software) at 84K miles for the whopping sum of $9,500 and this was 2005 money. I'd like to have this one back.
  8. My vote is to compress the bumpers and leave the spoiler, the two together make a nice uniform look. If you remove the bumpers altogether, you expose your delicate nose and tail panels. If you go the early bumper conversion route, you have a lot of bodywork on your hands, holes to fill and bumper mounts to fabricate. There is nothing wrong with big bumpers, they work--early chrome bumpers are basically jewelry.
  9. Can't help you on HD's but I do have a nice set of KYB's that are great for a daily driver on stock springs. Make me an offer! http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/p,863653/highlight,/#863653
  10. I have a cool set that is ready for final refinish, they are unique, straight, blasted and have new caps and roundels, Sure you can find a set of cheaper wheels out there but by the time you track down 4 good ones, ship them, have them checked, blasted and find caps you will discover that this "ready to go" set is cheaper in the long run, if your time also = money! http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,364239
  11. . >>>>>SOLD<<<< --- 5.5"x13" - 4x100 Western Wheel "Minilite Style" alloy wheels with new centercaps and roundels.
  12. Part Number Request: Hexnut for Window Wiper Spindle? I'm trying to find out if these are NLA and I'm having trouble identifying the part number. Thanks, Ben
  13. The contacts usually fit fine, just wrap electrical tape around it, that's what I do for my Garmin, just a dab will do.
  14. Ah-yep. 7" might not fit w/out fender flares. 5.5 or 6 is good, also much depends on your offset.
  15. I have a set of interesting Opel Kadet Rallye wheels (2/69) that are true and ready for cosmetic restoration. I also have the early E30 chrome centercaps and alloy lugnuts that I'll include. Contact me for more info/pictures/price. -Ben
  16. I recently swapped out the engine in my 68 02 project but wanted to hang on to the original numbers matching engine and someday have it rebuilt. I have a basic engine stand but it takes up a lot of room and I was hoping to stash the engine in a closet to keep it out of sight. I’ve seen some others here on the FAQ build beefy looking engine storage carts, but I don’t weld and I’m not very clever. Inspired by a cardboard box with similar dimensions, I made this wooden storage cart/stand for about $15. I decided to keep the flywheel and clutch together with the engine so I had to chisel out some material to allow the rear support to slide between the oil pan and flywheel, but it wasn’t too difficult. I used a 2” hole saw to allow clearance for the oil drain plug. The low profile ball bearning casters from Harbor Freight allow the cart to roll easy on concrete and the engine isn’t too tipsy since the oilpan is riding about 2” from the ground. Materials: (1x) - 2x8x8, (8x) 3” Lag Bolts & Washers, (4x) Ball Bearing Casters, (8x) Wood Screws Lumber Dimensions: (2x) 20” (2x) 8.50” Ball Bearing Caster Example:
  17. Ahh, good question. My 68 was a CA car, my 71 was a PA car...not sure but I thought all 68's+ had the pump. Also not an expert in CA environmental affairs, but IIRC the cutoff is 1975 meaning any car titled as a 76+ needs to pass smog, regardless of the build date.
  18. Go ahead and toss the injection manifild into the scrap pile..if you already have the shorty, it will probably flow better without the straws sticking into the wind. The metal tube that snakes under the intake manifold will be easier if you cut it out in pieces. Mine was rusted thru. The studs will prob come out of the head and then you have a second can of worms to solve. Ben
  19. My 68 02 had an air pump, and smog crap and so does my 71 1602. The 71 system is still complete and functioning 100%. The 68's was gone before I bought the car, but the bracket for the airpump is incorporated into the dipstick tube housing. To remove the pump bracket you will need to saw the bracket in half and then contour the remaining tube mount, then replace the gasket.
