  1. weewass - looks like you are new to da FAQ, #1 welcome, and #2, the buyers and sellers are very active and vibrant on our board. Many wonderful deals can be had in our virtual garage sale. High quality pics and overkill on the details will ensure you get a fair price and your buyers are well informed and happy. Good luck with your sale! Ben
  2. Most likely: esty is implying that if you post some detailed photographs, your buyers can make an informed decision on an offer.
  3. The flaps I have on my 71 1600 are similar to this:
  4. Aw Man...that would be a solid resto candidate in most of the country. Cool car and color, too bad.
  5. Let's hope Mrs. Schwarz75 isn't checking out the FAQ today!
  6. Thanks CD, plot thickens! I plugged the VIN it into this decoder [ http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi ] and got the following: Chassis number 3980161 Vehicle code 2011 Series 114 Model 1602 Body type saloon Catalog model ECE Production date 1975 / 05 Engine M10 Transmission Manual Steering Left Catalyzer NONE Ream OEM returns: 05/1975 114 1602 Sedan M10 Europe Left hand drive Manual Production Code: 2011 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do?vin=3980161
  7. I was in a similar situation on my 71 1600 and contacted NHS in 2009 for help. Getting this response below, I simply found a used one on the FAQ instead. My used clock runs great, but calibrating the time is a real pain--I ran it for weeks on my bench and got it to keep time, but once installed in the car, it seems to run fast. If you have the coin, the quartz movement is probably ultra nice. Dear Ben, Due to age and usually worn out conditions we no longer repair electro mechanical clock movements as used in your BMW 1600 clock but do offer a quartz movement conversion at $ 220.00 plus shipping. The conversion does not alter the appearance of the clock and provides you with a superior product. 1 year warranty. App. 1 week turnaround time. We do accept Visa, M/C, UPS COD CASH, or Pay Pal Our shipping address: North Hollywood Speedometer 6111 Lankershim Blvd. North Hollywood, CA 91606 Ph: 818-761-5136 Regards, Hartmut Behrens info@nhspeedometer.com
  8. Hi Mike, I'm with you on the colder air/stock setup - my 68 came with the conversion complete and it has worked well--BUT--I went crazy and installed an 02again header on the recent engine swap, and now the lower intake port on my summer/winter box is obsolete and looks unfinished. So that got me thinking, chop and mod an extra plastic summer/winter box or swap on a K&N style?
  9. I was returning from a weekend roadtrip and stopped at an antique mall in western Indiana to look for mantiques/garage art and found a booth selling old car dealer scripts, emblems, license plates, etc. I wonder what happened to this poor eurospec 5/75 1602 [3980161] and how his vinplate and grillebadge ended up amongst doilies and hummels? I got both items for $5.
  10. Been using a modded 2 barrel aircleaner with adapter but have been thinking about the other styles, what are my options? There are several POS choices out there for ~$20, but I seem to remember seeing a redline cast aluminum one at some point that looks sturdier. What about the availability of ITG baseplates and filters? Did some searching and it only returns results from 2009 and older. Thank you, Ben

  16. I'm not an expert, but if you have a meter stick and a car with a shroud, you can check it first. I ran a tropical fan and a 71 degree thermostat to battle a heating problem, it didn't help that much, so I got a Silicon Garage radiator. At that point, the gauge didn't go much beyond the blue so I installed the smaller fan and it seemed to be a better fit. I didn't use a shroud with either setup.
  17. Get a fan shroud from a later 02, a Silicon Garage Radiator, larger "tropical fan", WaterWetter, and a 71 degree thermostat. You'll never have heat, but should stay cool in the desert. Good luck. -Ben Call this guy for the stock three row core treatment: Mark Preisendorf Silicon Garage 02 SiliconGarage02@gmail.com 510-507-2002
  18. looks like the wife is giving the husband the cold shoulder again. She probably has a headache.
  19. Raine---that's the manifold I sold and wished I had back! Hope it worked OK for your car. The major difference is the lack of smog pipes on the exit flange side and lack of straw like pipes in each inlet port. The tii didn't use this stuff, although I've heard that the 74tii manifold did have some sort of bung added. Look for one as pictured above. Ben
