  1. Sweet Cosmics! I've also been on the hunt for a few years and I have a set of 6"x13" and a three 5.5"x13" (I'm looking for a few singles of this size to complete a set if anyone has any extras.) Good news on the center cap issue for this version; GB Car Parts out of AZ stocks reproductions for $14.99 each including the retaining ring. They are flatter than the originals, but look great. http://www.gbcarparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=500-A6 Please take pictures of the restoration process! -=Ben
  2. My first and only ticket came at the wheel of my 68 2002 as I was driving over to IMS for the 2007 US Grand Prix. A motorcycle cop was hiding in the shadow of an overpass and just stepping out into the light and pointing at people to pull over....(IMHO, the crappiest way to get pulled over) They say I was going 73 in a 55 - I said-- "that's too bad, my speedo must be really off because I thought I was doing more like 80" -=B
  3. Not sure, but for $50 Bucks....you can own a small slice of 1529630: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Bmw-1600-1967-2-dr-Title-2002-TT-RARE-/350424741603
  4. I've used DAS and a privateer from USHIP.COM -- the full scale commercial mover has some advantages, including GPS tracking, the little rigs can sometimes get it to you faster, but check the insurance and the DOT status on the driving team. Wayne Carini on Chasing Classic Cars seems to use a firm called Precious Metal for the episodes where they go to Amelia Island. Try some google searching on SnowBird auto transportation. You are likely going to get a better deal on a empty rig headed north this time of year. Good Luck. Ben
  5. I found a pic of the GT version in my archives: Same wheel, +clips
  6. Dieter, beautiful Opel, I love it! Question for you, it has been my understanding that the GT used the Rallye wheel but by then they riveted on extra clips to hold the large plastic center cap that surrounds the lugnuts--can you confirm this?
  7. The first 12/67 set I had was indeed chrome down below the layers of paint. This second set I have looks like they were black and then finished silver on the outside only, just like the BMW wheels of the era (same manufacturer) I plan to blast the new set and see what lurks below. The caps I use on these wheels are the Euro E30 316, and are held on by the lugnuts. PN 36 13 1 127 230 -- The ones used in this catalog shot seem narrower and fit in from behind (like the early alloys) or press fit.
  8. Mike, these are actually the mid-level sexy 68-69 Opel Rallye wheels. I have a 12/67 set I use on my cars and a new 2/69 set on hand for a rainy day, made by Lemmerz. -=Ben
  9. I'll take the 2000 emblem, and possibly a few other items - how do I reach you to arrange payment? Ben
  10. I don't drive my cars to work anymore - Friday October 17, 2008:
  11. NM/NA: 1971 BMW 2002 salvage - $400 (Sacramento) http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/2088263656.html Date: 2010-11-30, 4:46PM PST Reply to: sale-sdz2h-2088263656@craigslist.org I got rear ended and the other driver's insurance deemed the car a total loss. Can provide the insurance assessment to interested buyers. Downside: tail lights pushed in, trunk compressed, trunk hatch will not close, no interior paneling. Upside: Runs well, original wheels, Recaro seats. Email if interested.
  12. I use this little gem from Harbor Freight. With my 20% off coupon it was about $35 - Drill one extra hole and you can install it like this and all sides are open for work, including the clutch:
  13. Oh, I installed shocks with "coil-over" helper springs to get the back up that far...it was really dragging back in the day.
  14. Hi Joe, The GT shown in the link uses fundamentally the same wheel, except that it has I believe 4 clips riveted in to accept the center cap (just like the one on the picture above) The thing that is most interesting about the Rallye wheels I have is that they were chrome.
  15. Hilarious...I got my Falcon when I was 12! Only took 22 years to get it roadworthy and then I sold it to fund my 2002 restoration. I did enjoy driving it to the Falcon Nationals this past summer where it won the Diamond in the Rough award.
  16. I'm glad you like my car--it is certainly a very interesting color in different light. Similar to your chinos...some are tan, some are very tan, some look white but they are all "tan" more or less. The Lemmerz 5x13 wheels are 12/67 Opel Kadett Rallye with E30 steel wheel centercaps. PS, My dad has a 50 Ford Tudor and I had a 62 Falcon Futura from 1988-2010, similar to your Comet. cheers. Ben
  17. I say stick with Nevada. Nevada is a full bodied color of tan with intense aromas of ginger, mocha, oak and multigrain bread that turn to honey, roasted almonds and graphite on the palate.
  18. NM/NA http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/cto/2070284991.html 1971 BMW 2002-needs engine - $1200 (I15/52) Date: 2010-11-19, 9:46PM PST Reply to: sale-6xecr-2070284991@craigslist.org This car just came out of a 20 year indoor storage. Replaced with NEW tires, calipers, brake lines, bearings, carb rebuild, thermostat. Drove it around for about 2 months, then a valve spring broke, broke the head and a piston... Pulled the engine OUT and now just not interested in the repair anymore. I have lots of pics... Will not negotiate unless you are here looking at the car....Perfect interior and very tiny rust spot on body. Email if serious...........
