  11. Hi all, I have a line on an older factory rebuilt engine and I'm trying to verify the provenance before finalizing the deal. Is anyone familiar with the older style markings on the factory rebuilt units? I think the newer crate engines from BMW come with bar codes and DOT-R stickers...this one is maybe from the mid-1990s? I've also heard of factory rebuilt units being stamped with XXXXXXX over the engine numbers. Anything look out of sorts in these pics? Thanks for any extra info you can provide This is what I know: E12 Head with 87 casting date Block is stamped with the following letters/numbers where the VIN would normally be: 21 170ZA 10 0

  14. Owner : Don Year/Model : 1965 BMW 3200CS Coupe (VIN # : 76528) About this restoration : We built this car some time ago (after rescuing her from a junk yard) and she has won first place in every Concours she has been entered in. This example is probably the finest in the world and is very rare as only 603 were made. This beautiful piece of BMW history is for sale and was last seen at the 2004 BMW Oktoberfest in Pasadena, California. Call Don for details.

  21. Can you take and post some detailed pictures? In the rust ravaged Midwest and east coast, this car would bring more money than in your fair state where these cars are more common. I've not seen it, but if the car is rock solid and original I'd say that this would be a good buy at about half that amount. Rare colors and factory accessories would help drive the value. Keep in mind, to make it right, you will need to spend a fair amount on things like brakes, suspension, etc on top of the other interior problems you mentioned. I've spent the last year refreshing my time capsule of a 1600 and have easily spent as much as I did on the purchase price of the car on driveline maintenance and suspension repairs to bring it back to life. Post some pics! Ben
  22. This looks to be a 6 Volt clock - I believe this particular clock would be appropriate for a 1967 1600 - The 12V clocks like this were used in all 1600s and 2002 Automatics through the changeover to the newer style gauge clusters, I believe in 72. (My early 71 1600 has a 12V silver dollar style clock) - After this, the 2002 automatics continued to have a black dial clock, although it was of a different variety--the click click is not as lively. Many folks have swapped out the clocks for a Tach, as the clocks are a bit fussy when they do run. -Ben
  23. Glad to see Emily has a good home---I thought on it for long time when she was up for sale, just couldn't scrape up the spend. Hope you are having fun! Ben
