  1. I'll have your emergency Fuel Pump ready should the need artificially arise. Maybe Blunt takes a pass on spitting fuel this year? I have delicate enamel--perhaps someone else can step up? -Ben
  2. Leaving Friday AM so you can enjoy my anodized mug in your rear view mirror for 6 hours?
  3. Hi Pat...with Hagerty...I'm not sure you will need any supporting documentation other than your required photos. I'd ask to have in insured for what you think you have in it and then some. Call them and ask for a quote. They were able to insure my 1600 for my recommended agreed upon value without any questions. If you want to go the appraiser route--I googled and found this company here in Indianapolis: http://www.vintageautoappraisers.com/contactus.html -=Ben
  4. My 68 2002 did the same thing...I shot it with some Wd-40 and got it unstuck and then just got a new one from the dealer. I think the same brake switch is used for cars up through E30s -- mine had one in stock. Look at your brake booster on the back...it looks like a regular plunger switch with a wire sticking out of it. Get this fixed quick--don't want to melt your rear lenses. Ben
  5. Best of engine luck Jim - I'm sure we will be rocking and rolling come May 29. Ben
  6. it might be interesting to see what they have going on down there...I'd snap it up but I don't need the extra skid of crap and I don't have a tii !! Feel free to contact them and check it out and report back! Ben
  7. My 68 2002 was in an near identical collision. I have a new quarter, trunk floor, tail panel, etc but I've not started the expensive part of the project--the bodyshop. I'd like to stay in touch with you to see how your project is coming along and ask about the billed labor hours so I have some idea how much my car will cost to rebuild. mobiletradition at gmail Thanks! -Ben

  9. My original caps split after installing new struts and mounts. I installed a backup set and now one of them has split. I already have a set of new gray caps in reserve but I prefer the look of black. Anyone have a set in nice condition? I'd be interested in several sets from multiple sellers. Thanks. mobiletradition at gmail
  10. Here is a picture of my 68 2002 and the 40 Micro Led High Mount Brake Light that looked really nice but didn't do a very good job at warding off douchebaggery. Your individual results may vary, I hope.
  11. http://www.autohausaz.com -- less than $25 a pop for rotors, $21 for PBR-Repco Deluxe pads, free shipping and no tax. Hard to beat.
  12. Someone was selling one here a few months ago. If i remember correct for a pretty decent price, too. Yes, I spoke to Richard, the seller in the UK....it is now sold to a local buyer. I admit to wanting to get it and then hire a company in China to duplicate it for domestic consumption via my new cottage industry....but, I shrugged and then went back to work at my KnitKnots job. Ben
  13. we should totally test this out....quick...I need 10 volunteers to send me $100. I'll let you know what happens.
  14. Yes, but even when you are back in Radiator Springs making out with Sally Carrera at the Cozy Cone, you'll know deep down that she is really Bonnie Hunt.
  15. SEM brand TRIM BLACK works great on the early cars. Some Sherwin-Williams stores carry it...call around.
  16. Have you figured out what do do for the mechanical clutch control? This might be a showstopper, more than the output issue.
  17. Count Me In Mike -- Bob Evan's 8AM? I should have Indy02/Pat in tow this year in his newly completed tii. Ben
  18. In my 1600, I went from a 4.10 to a 3.90 and now down to a 3.64...all open. I was not as concerned with speed and acceleration as I was not turning 4,400 RPM at 70 MPH. The 3.90 dropped the clicks down to about 4,200 and the 3.64 has me down closer to 4,000 (ish) I would have stayed with the 3.90 but it had a bad bearing that I only discovered after it was installed. The 3.64 that I got from one of our own FAQers is doing just fine. If your car is happy and healthy with the 1600 engine...just drive it man!
  19. Hi-Would you send me your asking price on the alloy wheels too? Thanks, mobiletradition at gmail
  20. I really think 15"s are too much on a roundie, but I'm a sissy. For a narrow 14" option, why not buy a new set of these early Euro E30 wheels: STEEL RIM SILBER 5JX14 ET:35 P/N: 36 11 1 125 684 Check out these old posts: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,325418/highlight,36111125684/ http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,279542/highlight,36111125684/ I also have a newly restored and trued, professionally refinished set of early 13" tii wheels that are ready to go...I might sell them for the right price. These look very slick with the dog dish hubcaps.
  21. I just special ordered these output shaft seals from the dealer in December but I ended up using a different differential for my 1600--If you want to replace your seals, let me save you the trouble, no tax, no drive time to the dealer, etc...I'll send both of them to you for $40 shipped. You, or anyone else can email me through the forum for more info. BMW PN 33 12 1 202 126 Thanks! -Ben
