  1. I had my early alloy wheels refinished and I have them at the shop to mount the Avid T4s and the technician called me to say that the standard rubber valve stems do not seem to fit the wheel. Has anyone else experienced this? The standard valve stem has a indent in it about the thickness of the wheel, but it won't seat properly with the extra thickness of the alloy--technician is concerned about the stem blowing out. Based on pictures from when I got the car, it had rubber valve stems in it previously. Are metal bolt on stems a better choice? Thanks! Ben
  2. I was about to chime in, I'm deducting 25,000 Euros for the botched power antenna job. PUKE!
  3. Take a pencil, stick it down in the slit in your carpet next to the brake pedal, upon removal if it is wet...you have found your missing brake fluid. Take out your carpet, soak up the fluid with rags in the pedal box and then use something like brake parts cleaner to spray down in there and try to clean everything up. Perfect time to replace the pedal box foam too. Oh yeah, also replace the leaking bits. -Ben
  4. I took mine completely off, put it in a vice, cut off the unneeded smog pump attachment bits, filed the edge flat and smooth and then sanded for a nice finish. I put it back on and wolla. This is the free approach. Ben
  5. No worries...I did it too. At the time, I asked that the FAQ be updated to reflect that the E21 upgrade REQUIRED at least 13" x 5" -- but I don't think this ever happened. Unfortunately, I completed the upgrade then test fitted the 4.5" wheels. I'm running a 5 Mil spacer and the drums just barely clear the wheels. Put em on without spacers and the wheels come off with the drums still attached. Highly recommend longer studs, as the nuts just clear the last thread with the 5 mil. spacer. I had over 500 dollars wrapped up in blasting 5 steelies and having them painted Polaris by a body shop. Oh, and then I got rear ended. Oh well.

  8. . 090 Polaris Neu I have one set done like this and they are fantastic. I have another set done in a Mercedes argent silver color and they also look great. I don't know the color code, but try to get the gloss dulled down with whatever you shoot. -Ben

  11. Results may vary -- and not every situation is the same. Bavarian Autosport is a good company that supports our hobby when possible. I myself have been the recipient of a gift certificate that they donated as a prize for our local BMW CCA chapter holiday party. Decent prices, no sales tax and free shipping on larger orders. Give them a chance to make it right, please. --Ben
  12. . I was recently quoted $200 plus shipping to convert my ill 1600 clock to a quartz movement. I've not sent it off yet--does anyone have a 1600 clock they would want to sell? 17. The last time I purchased this from the dealer (Silber) They were sold individually and were just straight pieces and were trim to fit. Yes, they are about $6-7 a pop and no, I'm not sure anything else will fit and look good in the long run. Someone told me they used to sell this stuff by the meter....not anymore it appears. --Ben
  18. . I'm not sure you will find any 15" steelies? For the money, you can't go wrong with these 1982 Euro E30 316 wheels, STEEL RIM SILBER 5JX14 ET:35 36111125684 No painting required! STEEL RIM SCHWARZ 51/2JX14 ET:35 36111178826 is available too, but more expensive and you need to paint them silver.
  19. Not sure if ya'll realized but these are reproductions. I have a set of authentic blue binders and would sell them to an interested Faqer. Ben

  21. In my honest opinion...your front is fine, you need to raise the back a little bit to balance it out... Do you want a decent driving experience with good road mannerisms or a cool car to look at? Tough decision. --Ben
