  2. . Hey greasemonkey, Again, not trying to anger anyone, and I'll say that I'm not an expert on this, but I own a set of these (pictured above) that look identical (-the clips) that are 13"x5" and are stamped OPEL just as Mike has described. I'm attaching two more pictures I found on ebay a few years ago...these were marketed as OPEL GT wheels and look very similar to your wheels. I don't remember what size these were listed as. Just trying to provide info I have. Thanks--Ben
  3. . Hello, I'm not here to ruin anyone's day, but I believe these are OPEL wheels that were sometimes used on GTs with a chrome centercap snapped onto the 4 clips that are seen riveted to the wheels in the various pictures. The same wheels were also used on older kadett rallye without the clip on center cap as shown in this picture:
  4. B/C it started out as a POS junker and was modded out "exactly" how the owner wanted it, and this is fine if you never want to sell it.....this car makes me want to puke. (my opinion)
  5. In My 68 I found a 1969 penny under the carpet stuck to the tar board. It was shiny and new on the underside....I put it back and it is still there. I also found an old address label from the original owner Roger Peters from Laguna Niguel, CA (Anyone know him?, I believe he passed in the late 1990s) -Ben
  6. . 02Monster Mike has these Flag mirrors for sale at a reasonable $70 in his new add in the for sale section: .
  7. I just got new ones on my 71 1600 and since they were only $55 each (dual line, not the ones for you, sorry) I painted them black with caliper paint to keep them from rusting too bad, the color was not that important to me. I think canary yellow would look ab-fab on your car. -=Ben
  8. my 1/71 build date US spec 1600 has front reflectors.
  9. I did this conversion and my rear wheels will not fit without at least a 5MM spacer and even then, the drums are basically touching the inner wheel. (plus, you need longer wheels studs. too) Take it from me, only do this if you have plans to run at least a 5"x13" wheel. Ben
  10. head over to radio shack and get a packet of gold spade terminal bridge connectors (pictured below) and just share the hot from the driver side brakelight and also share the ground lug too. Attach the 2 wires along your rear wiring harness loom and over to wherever you want to mout the light. Hooking it in like this avoids drilling for an extra ground, etc.
  11. 40 micro LED light bar, impressively bright, just not enough. I was behind a hot rod today that had LED brakelights that flashed for the first 4-5 seconds then went all red...I'd love to do something like this.
  12. I think what you are smelling is the natual decomp associated with the sweet byproducts of an Oberlander Draft Horse combined with rodent dung. Can you have this odor in your 2002--yes, yes you can. Ben
  13. . I was able to pick up some Yoko Avid Tourings this spring and I really like them for everyday driving. Check your local Yokohama retailer or www.tires.com - $69 each. For an economical choice, you can get Kumho Power Star 758s for $47 each. Tirerack has 3 choices listed right now: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compare1.jsp?width=185%2F&ratio=70&diameter=13

  15. You can always buy a new tank at the dealer and not mess with trying to save a rusty item. It might cost you $500....but you don't have the mess and downtime. peace. -Ben
  16. Those pesky Germans are famous for strange taillight modifications, clear, smoked, etc. I believe these are simply repros. Funny thing is, the early roundies in the US had red dot turnsignals and the Eurospec had yellow (if I'm incorrect, correct me) The same was true for my 1969 VW beetle...at the time, the Eurospec lenses had yellow turn signals and the US were white with yellow bulbs. My, how times have changed!
  17. . Opel Kadett Rallye (date stamp 12/67, Lemmerz) 13" x 5" E30 Center Caps, Alloy Lugs, Yoko Avid Tourings
  18. Your local town or municipality should have a no cost tox-drop program where you can take old chemicals for disposal. Gasoline has many wonderful properties....a seasoning for ground water it aint. Good Luck! -Ben
  19. Don't want to nay say, but I'll say nay...once these babies are mounted over your silver housings, they will darken and you will see the bulbs. They are pimp though, no doubt. --Ben
  20. Yes...I was in no way suggesting that you commit insurance fraud. IF, you were rear ended at any speed your body would have suffered some type of impact, belt to shoulder, arms to wheel, head/neck to headrest (if you have them, I didn't in my 68) -- if any of this activity that clearly was not your fault has any impact on your short term or long term health, loss of work, etc. Do the right thing and go get checked out by a doctor. If you have any bills associated with a doctor visit, prescriptions for pain relievers, etc...this will and should be covered by the insurance company. --Ben
