  1. I have one similar to this....Mine does not have the bellows, (just a solid plastic collar.) the inside reveals a vintage VW/AUDI casting. On mine, the grip is hard foam simulated to look like stiched leather. Someone thought that this might be a modded Sciroco item. Anyway, it is a nice comfortable wheel. Ben
  2. . I developed my own kit using a 40 micro LED red light bar that I purchased from a motorcycle shop, I attached it just below the rear window seal on My 68. I purchased some really nice bridge terminals from Radio Shack and ran the two thin wires down the backside of the C-Pillar, into the trunk area and along the rear wiring harness loom. I tapped into the positive on the driver side taillight using the dual bridge terminals and hit the main ground lug/wire right on the taillight housing. The whole thing works great, no holes were drilled, wires cut, etc. The only bad part was I got rear-ended while sitting at a red light with my foot on the break pedal! In my opinion, it can't hurt to add more lights to the rear of your cars...but extra brake lights won't keep stupid people from hitting you. cheers! Ben
  3. . I'm looking for one or two early 5"x13" steel wheels from a '72 or a '73 tii to make a complete a set of 4. I'd prefer clean/restorable condition, light surface rust is OK. Please email thru the forum or mobiletradition at gmail dot com THANKS!
  4. Fitting a new set of grilles to a 2002 takes time and patience. I've done it and discovered that a fair amount of tweaking was necessary to "mold" the parts to the car. Based on what I can see in the pictures, you may need to put a slight bend in each slat to match the angle of the neighboring slats. These babies are stamped from aluminum--it would be hard to expect them to have the correct angles or shape for every application.......ever go swimsuit shopping with a woman? (by the way, my grilles did not seem to be the of same "quality" as the dingy original ones I was replacing, but they sure are shiny!) Mr. Blunt is a fair and reasonable person...I'm sure others will agree.
  5. . For the BMW owner who has everything, yet wants just a little more: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-300-300-CHADWICK-BMW-GOLF-CART_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ270356224271QQsspagenameZRSSQ3aBQ3aSRCHQ3aUSQ3a101#ebayphotohosting [/b]
  6. I met Lothar a few years ago at the Hoosier BMW car corral for the F1 race in Indianapolis. He gave me some really nice glass beer mugs and a shot glass. A very fine Gentleman. -=Ben
  7. THANK YOU THANK YOU !! The Blue Smurf Gods of 2002 Motoring are Shining Down Upon You! Ben
  8. Do you seriously have a use for this part? I'm trying to put a 68 2002 back on the road that was devastatingly rear ended in October. I can use all the help I can get. Thanks, Ben
  9. If these are for a roundie, I'll take them. Email Sent...Thank you.
  10. they had 8 left and I got 5. 3 left! came the next day, free shipping too.
  11. My '68 has dual (note?) Hella horns already, I think they are quite loud. Do later cars only have a single horn? Ben
  12. Once I heard they were on closeout, I ordered up 5 to use on my newly refinished Opel Kadett Rallye wheels....then the car got crashed, and so on. Someday. Ben
  13. Dunno-I sent a check for some small defroster vents that was sadly never cashed...I also collected condolences from the FAQ and mailed them to his widow. His PO box was in Capitola -- not sure where the parts ended up. Ben
  14. Observations: --Look at how far forward they mounted the side mirror! --Ringless dog dish hupcaps with thin trim rings (same caps later painted polaris on the flat surface and used with slotted aluminum trim rings on early 68 2002s) ? --old style rear view mirror mount --embossed beltline trim with black "inserts/accents"
  15. .. Careful Mike....my car made it to it's 40th birthday and was nearly murdered by a Chrysler. So a warm happy birthday to Wolfgang, and watch your back!
  16. Larry and I are around....but.....the new terminal is about 1/2 drive from our side of town. Harv...where are you staying? Near the old terminal, downtown? Inside a baggage trolley? Ben
  17. Larry (Schwartz75) and Ben (Eastsidebimmer) are north/and more north, but ?? are you carless too? Ben
  18. I wired the money, he overnighted the title, I hired the transport, he made the car available for pickup, car made it here with no problems. In Indiana, I took the title and the handwritten bill of sale to our BMV, a clerk checked the Vin Plate against the title, registered the car in my name and the new IN title arrived by mail. Fairly painless....except for wiring money and hoping you get a car in return! Ben
  19. . ..Just set it and forget it...the only change that may increase the value of this spectacular machine is a 5 speed conversion. Painting this car would be a total buzzkill for just about all of us! Keep it original! Ben
  20. . I feel your pain....I ended up OK with the insurance adjuster on my smack, very hard to believe knowing what everyone goes through. Try to get them to "respect" the value listed in the NADA classic valuation guide, it might help. Keep the faith. Ben
  21. I spotted this on fleabay....(not mine) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-2002-OEM-NOS-Nose-Panel-for-74-76-2002_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem290285690625QQitemZ290285690625QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  22. . ahhh, the hoses that run to and fro the heater core? Are they running thru the firewall?
  23. Thanks for the lead Skip---hey, do you still have that 68 red motor up on the parts shelf? I think I might need it still. Ben
