  1. If you are installing them on a 2002, run them thru the dishwasher with some detergent and "glass magic" powder, use Wurth CleanSolve or some type of solvent on the areas to be painted and then mask everything but the bars you want black, then prime with a good self etching primer (Wurth for example) then shoot several coats of SEM brand "Trim Black" rattlecan paint. Your grilles will look faaabulous. If you want the easy route...just buy a new set of stick on slats from the dealer or Blunt here on the FAQ.... The procedure described above is correct for 68-69ish 2002s. Cheers, Ben
  2. I'd consider that....The hubcaps are really nice, I got them from MarsMann earlier this year. I sent you an email about the bumper condition. Lets chat. Ben
  3. . . . Looking for NOS sheetmetal for a Roundie: • Passenger side rear quarter panel • Rear tail panel • Trunk floor • Decklid (good clean used OK) • Gas tank • Rear bumper with short ends (early) Midwest or Mid Atlantic States Preferred, I would consider freight for the right items. Mobiletradition at gmail -- or email me through the FAQ button above Help save a Roundie, Thank you, Ben
  4. . . . Wife says: "take that down, now" I think Santa would be proud. --Ben
  5. I'm registered!! Who knows what I might bring, my crashed 2002? a new 2 me 2002 or ?? Oh the possibilities! I can't wait! Ben
  6. Here's something for the fall '09 sorrow and disappointment collection:
  7. I'm looking for a good black driver's seat for a 72 (or any roundie w/ headrests) I'll consider both front seats if someone has a decent pair. Thank you, Ben
  8. New ones are now $414 each. 2 years ago I paid $225 for a set of brand new old stock ones here on the FAQ. For my early 2002, I subsequently and painstakingly taped them off and shot them with Wurth self etching primer and several coats of SEM trim black. They look fantastic, the paintwork applied by me was defiantly more careful than Hans back in old Bavaria. Ben
  9. It didn't help me, unfortunately.
  10. Speaking from extreme experience here, if you have completed the 320i rear drum upgrade, the stock 4 1/2 x 13" wheel will not fit over the drums without an aggressive spacer of 5MM or larger. Keep this in mind for cars with this setup. Ben

  12. So, you are 187 cars away from mine (born May 17, 1968) so your car is probably a few weeks older. BMW mobile tradition will email you the stats...search the site for the email addy for the guy who does it. Your car should look like the one pictured below. (note the beltline trim) Ben
  13. Please report back your VIN number and do tell us if you have the all important embossed hood trim and dogdish hubcaps and trim rings. You should also have a non-ribbed dash parcel tray and all white sun-visors. Please take and post lots of pictures.... Ben
  14. I posted a question in my response to a similar topic below, but I didn't get any responses, so I thought I start a new post: MikeinNC wrote: Thanks to Randy Anderson (74 Tii) from Oklahoma for the tip on the powder Tiger Dry Lac, Anodized Silver, Satin Finish Nice finish and not too silvery if you know what I mean Now I need to replace those ugly lug nuts I just visited a local powder coater and looked thru the book 'o' colors and could not find anything that I liked. The manager stated that they could order any brand I needed. Aside from the Tiger Dry listed above, what brands, formulations and sheen have others used with success on Alloy and Steel wheels? BTW, this info would be helpful for the FAQ -- Factory wheel paint codes for Polaris and best practices for powder coating if folks want to go that route.

  17. http://iversonautomotive.com/aluminum.htm I have a piece there right now waiting for an evaluation. Ben
  18. I believe this is the correct part...it is a fancy rubber gasket that slides on the bottom of the aircleaner and provides a tight seal down to the 2bbl carb. I looked for one a few years ago for my 32/36 conversion and was unsuccessful--looks like I was barking up the wrong model tree. Ben
  19. although the mag says this ad ran in 1968....the front reflectors and the headrests are the givaways.
  20. I was planning on it---then we became with child and delivered last week--so no for 2008. If the USGP is not back in 2009, then yes--I plan to attend Canada next year and drive from Indianapolis. If you would, please make notes of your journey, especially budget minded suggestions. I was planning to camp and take the metro to save money for beer and gas, etc. Have lots of fun. Ben
  21. I plucked this baby out of SoCal in 2005. They are still out there. Ben
