  1. Does BMW USA own www.bmwonline.com ? The sad part is--if I really wanted this stuff, and remembered to go to the dealer to get it, I'd need to order it, wait and then come back. I suppose I'd have a better chance of adding an M5 to my order if I came back 2 times. this is the same reason my local dealer gives free coffee and a carwash on Saturday mornings--with the hope you will want to trade while you are there. Don't get me wrong--nice looking site! Ben
  2. Is something missing? -- Since this is not a e-commerce site and part numbers are not listed, how will consumers purchase these items, aside from remembering and asking for them by name at the dealer parts counter? I like the idea- Ben
  3. Anthony, I'm about to have my steelies repainted after having them blasted--I just can't find too many body shops who want the work. Can you share the secret your shop used to get the right dull "look?" --About how much did you pay to have them painted? Thanks! Ben
  4. They tell me the E46 was widely considered the performance benchmark of its class. The record year for the E46 was 2002, when 561,249 vehicles were sold worldwide.

  6. since last year. It looks great, works great, doesn't leak and best of all, it carries a tiny Silicon Garage sticker which signals to the world that, as far as radiators are concerned---you've arrived. Mine works so well, I need to move back up to a warmer thermostat. This info below from Curt is almost a year old, so the prices may have changed: sigarage@aol.com .......A rebuilt 2002 radiator with three-row core is $375 outright or $325 with an exchange. I usually have these in stock and can ship within one day. The exchange can come before or after purchase, and it can be any rebuildable stock 2002 all-metal radiator. If your present radiator has cosmetically good tanks and side brackets and you want to keep them, you can send me that one for rebuilding. That would cost $325 and take about one week plus shipping times. FedEx Ground shipping is usually $30 or less; send me a ZIP code for a quote.
  7. ....my 68 doesn't have a radio, but I really wanted to listen to the Indy 500 on the way home from V @ V last year, so I used a portable XM unit, plugged in the the lighter socket, found some metal hiding under the padding on the dash for the antenna and used headphones for the drive home. Worked very well.
  8. I know we have relay install FAQ, any bucket modifications needed? Ben
  9. I took GNT KILR (Giant Killer) to the BMV with a list of possibles and the woman announced loud enough for the whole branch to hear : "Killer -- Sir, are you serious, there is no way this would be approved" Everyone turned and gasped like I had some type of suitcase nuke. I had 68 BMW02, but I didn't re-reserve it by the deadline, so it falls out of the system until we change plate designs--I had to pick somehting else. Starting in April, I will be INDY BMW and in 2008 Indiana passed a law saying we can use plates from the model year of the car, so I'll probably switch to that. Good Luck
  10. Yeah, don't go east-----too much salt right now. Nice car--where did you find it?
  11. If you get stranded along I-70 in Indiana, there are a few of us around in central IN to help. I'd replace fuel lines from the firewall to the carb and replace the filter. Buy oil, coolant and you might want to think about AAA before you leave. Good Luck--looks nice! Ben
  12. I've been thinking about the 2007 Rolex Vintage Festival -- has anyone formed a list of 2002ers that might attend and possible camping locations? I've never been before, and probably could only swing it if there were accommodation economies of scale. Showers are a plus but not required. Any NorthEasters or others in the bunch have thoughts or ideas? Thanks! Ben
  13. My 68 2002 has red centers and I think Mike Self told me his 69 was would have had them, but they were replaced for some reason. As dumb as this sounds, I believe the red center taillights are US spec and the amber was Euro Spec. I had a 69 VW beetle that had Eurospec orange taillights/turn signals and the original all red ones in the parts box. Quite the opposite to todays "Altezza" Euro disasters that are all the rage. Even BMW stopped using rear amber signals in the past 6-7 years.
  14. If you plan to sell parts, please take some pics and let me know what you might have. Mike's right--us poor early guys have slim pickens when it comes to wacko early parts. email----> mobiletradition at gmail com Thanks! Ben
  15. I used them a few years ago to get some headlight bezels for my Jeep Comanche, Most of this stuff is built overseas....so the price is right, shipping was high if I remember correctly. http://www.carpartswholesale.com/cpw_store/index.php Also try--http://www.rustrepair.com/ I've not used these guys,
  16. It did have a black coil when I got it but I've swapped on a used blue. I can't tell any difference. I don't know the part number but it was in a bosch box and someone wrote, "use w/ out resistor" on the outside of the box. Having an early car can be a real adventure sometimes! Ben
