  1. All this talk about insurance down below got me thinking about my Hagerty policy and my agreed value. I’m not expert, but I think it means that if someone steals it, or I crash it beyond repair, they will pay out the agreed value to me. What if someone else hits me and the other company does not want to pay out full value—does Hagarty take over? As time (and hopefully value) moves on, I’ve thought about having an independent appraisal done to make sure my agreed upon value for my policy is accurate and, in the event I ever need it—I have a comprehensive report on the condition and value. The local specialist in my area charges $250 for a full onsite 14 page report with pictures--in triplicate. Has anyone done this BEFORE an accident? Were you surprised or disappointed in the findings? Ben
  2. Mi Casa is your Casa....F1 2007 or anytime!! Thanks for the kind words--indeed, I gave up my E36 below for the rights to my 2002 ownership. The trade off was a high mileage 92 Honda Accord as a daily driver.....I miss the 328i, but I forget all about it when I'm driving my 02! Ben
  3. Yes, I've never been sunburned before on my shins like I was on the return trip home to Indiana from V@V. I'm trying to coordinate my availability that weekend for your OH drive--I hope to make it! Ben
  4. On Friday night, I finally finished my upgrade project to one of Curt’s “high efficiency” 3 row core radiators. The actual radiator replacement was a snap. Along with the upgrade, I decided to order each and every new hose and clamps for the entire cooling system, including the heater. I also installed a new larger fan blade and alternator bushings, as the engine side bushings had turned to liquid tar over time. Since I have an early car with the smaller 15MM heater piping and a later style 2 barrel intake manifold, the circumference 2 of my hoses was too small. Fortunately, some NOS hoses from a local 2002er came in handy and I’m back in good shape, complete with the famous “blue raspberry” BMW coolant. So far so good—the plumbing system rehabilitation was a nice feel good project without a lot of problems—Thanks again to Curt for building a fine radiator! Ben
  5. Makes perfect sense--but how did I end up w/ (what I think) are 16" blades? Is the "made in England" stamp any clue? The 15" inserts I purchased are about 1/2 inch too short.... I'd be fine w/ 13s--anyone have a set for sale?
  6. I think I have 16” wiper units installed and I can’t seem to find appropriate refill inserts. I purchased a new set of 15” blade refills from BMW (PN 61611352734) but they are too short and I do not have spines to install them. Believe it or not, the previous owner has superglued the blade inserts to the individual tabs of the blade which is stamped “made in England”. This works, but I’d rather find the right setup. Does anyone have a used set of 15” Silver Wipers possibly with Arms they would like sell? Thanks, Ben

  8. Perhaps you should make several copies of the CD and sell them to your closest friends on the board for $1 apiece and then, perhaps only then--might we uncrack the code, together. This will probably get Bavautos attention pretty fast. Ben
  9. Find a car in good shape, learn it, make it safe and reliable to operate and then decide over time what you want to burn your money on. You may quickly find that your flare fund goes to unforeseen additional expenses when completing every project. Good luck and please share with us what you find! Ben
  10. I think you get a minus -2 seconds for "dukes of hazard" style maneuvers.
  11. Howdy Gents and Ladies— I ordered every single coolant and heater hose for my Curt I. radiator upgrade project, however I mis-ordered the intake to water pump hose. I have a box of NOS parts, and I found what I believe is the correct hose, but I don’t know the exact age. The manufacturer is VORWERK and it shows part number 1153 1263 327 which does not show up on real oem. The NOS hose is still soft—should I use it? Thanks! Ben
  12. Blunt, It must be maddening when you are better at customer service than the “professionals” are.
  13. If you like changing light bulbs all the time, this option may be right for you.
  14. My 68 gets hot and it makes me nervous. I have a 70 c thermostat and I'm getting ready to install my new Curt I. radiator. Long freeway trips make my car run near the red too--people tell me to just keep driving, but I don't think it is safe to run so hot even with the heat on full blast. My radiator is unproven, so I'm replacing it. If I still run hot, then I'll know for sure. I do miss the mid way point "always safe" idiot gauge of my old E36.
  15. ...In the event that an extremely high coefficient of drag would create enough lift to shear off the hood bracket bolts. I rented a Daewoo Leganza once, it had the same thing, I swear.
  16. I need to eventually get my Weber 32/36 rebuilt and I have a single Solex that I’d like to tidy up for possible future use. Does anyone on this board actually enjoy and find themselves to be good a rebuilding carbs? Anyone have a favorite carb shop that does mail order work? I probably should just do it myself, but I had bad luck with a lawnmower carb rebuild once and I’m no longer confident in my abilities. Thanks for any tips or encouragement, Ben
