If you look closely, you can see the spark box kit with a blue coil aaaand a resistor

But, it ain't just any blue coil.  It's a special one designed for that Transistorized Ignition system.  Just happens to be painted blue in color, but different than the common Bosch Blue coil with the built in resistor.  Hence, the added external ballast...

----Cats: yes, by all means, if you have a built-in population of feral cats, put them to use in keeping rodent populations under control. But, you should endeavor to have all such cats spayed and neutered if possible. There is a vast overpopulation of "feral" cats, which results in the killing of many, many birds and it affects the local food chains---the cats do not reproduce at quite the rate of the rodents they prey upon, but it is still quite rapid.

Amen to that.  Our 3 "Ranch Cats" are all spayed or neutered.  It was quite the ordeal trapping them and taking em' in to have it done.  But it's done now and they still hunt...

  3. Since I'm onsite, I use old-school traps and sometime have to resort to using a glue trap.  As gross as it might be, I prefer a confirmed kill...  We also have lots of "ranch cats AKA feral cats" that keep most of the rodents under control.  I try to not use any poison that might adversely affect my friends the hawks and owls...  If they get near my car, glue trap...  Peanut in the middle...  Works every time...

  4. I'm a big fan of Pertronix...  simple and has worked for me for many years...

Old devices are cool to understand.  I think the Judson is looking to solve the age old problem of burnt points similar to other early CD units (Delta Mark, etc.)  Paging @Mike Self  😊

  5. For these I've always paid for the OEM ones from BMW.  I think the last ones I got were made by Lemforder.  But they cost around $150 per upper strut mount (BMW Part #31331110195 which is over 3 times the cost of some of the aftermarket ones.

  6. I remember when I used to pay to have my car serviced in the mid 80's that I'd get gas filters with the Purolator sticker on them.  Then eventually they switched to Mahle gas filters.  Used to get Purolator red oil filters and tii air filters too.  I'd love to see a picture of the original spark plug wires with the diagnostic plug attached to the valve cover and the extra wire going to spark plug wire #1.  I took those off my '74 tii a loing time ago, but still have them in a box some where.  Also would be interested in seeing what the original '74tii vacuum hose looks like that comes from the plenum over to that '74tii specific air regulator unit that attaches to the air box.

  7. Installed the Holy Grail Labs fuse box in my '74tii.  Easy installation and works as it should.

There's a little toggle switch so you can turn OFF the LEDs so they don't drain the battery.  Pretty cool.

Battery Hooked up but car not started:

Here's what it would look like if the low beams are ON and Fuse #9 (left side low beam) is blown or missing.

Car turned OFF, LED toggle switch turned OFF.  Cover on, All Good...

  8. I love that "Brake Failure" button on the '73s.  I smile every time I see mine and push the button to test that the light still works.  And the all black gauges are the coolest 🙂

  9. Received the fuse box for my '74tii from Holy Grail Labs.  Easy install and works great!

After checking out the LEDs, I toggled the little dip switch so that the LEDs don't stay ON.

    Pretty cool...

Many of the cars I find have had these front ‘tow hooks’ broken off over the years. Initially mounted for the purpose of holding the car in transport from Germany to the decks of the ‘RoRo’ships used to bring them here, they were often used incorrectly to tow these cars. They...
