  1. The idler arms bushings were a little harder. Again, I gleaned some sage advise from the FAQ. My advise: (1) separate the inner bearing from the outer blue plastic shell. (2) shave/taper that blue plastic shell edge so that it fits within the opening. Make sure the opening is clean and lubed. Drive those tapered bushings in with a rubber mallet. (3) Pull the inner bearing in using threaded rod, washers, bolts,
  2. Thankfully I was able to glean a lot of information from the FAQ. Here's how I installed the new front subframe bushings. It was easy once I collected the parts. Ace Hardware is my friend 😄 And use lots of silicone based lube that doesn't destroy the rubber bushing
  3. Spring time is subframe rebuild time it seems. I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel 🙂

  10. I miss him too. He might have been abrasive to some folks, but he made and sold some killer stainless trim fasteners. 🙂 I still have a couple... Does this post make me the thread highjack off topic king !!! 😆 I hope conkitchen decides to come back. We're all in this together. The 2002 karmic calamity 😃
  11. This happened on my '74tii (The Thrasher). Living up to her name 🙂 Is this a common breakage point? I think/know a subframe rebuild is in order...
  12. I know this isn't always an option, but for this very reason I almost only sell parts at one of the local BMW events like the Swap & Show at Brisbane. That way the buyer can hold the part in their hands and either buy or reject. It also helps with no shipping and packing on Heavy items. That way there's no question...
  13. I believe that's where one of the under dash panels connects to.
  14. When I rebuilt my heater box a few years ago that original aluminum piece was loose in the bottom of the heater box. I put a dab of epoxy to keep it in place. Like others have said, a piece of aluminum can should work fine. Good luck, John
  15. The Eberspacher tii ones have an oval canister and are beefy and last a really long time. Different than the standard round canister side exit type. Blunt will know what's currently available if you want to go the stock route.
  16. Yes, the stock tii front brakes do use solid rotors. You are probably using tii struts, early e21 "big bearing" hubs, e21 vented rotors and the 5 series calipers. The 5 series calipers are like the tii calipers with a bigger spacer to support the vented rotors. That is, if you're using tii struts.

  19. It's a great antenna (Harada PM-13). Metal base, stainless mast and gets a really good signal for those of us who still use those "Radio Things" 🙂 It looks good too. I think a lot of dealers in California installed these back in the day. I've used the standard round-based type Hirschmann, Bosch, etc. and this one picks up stations better where I live. And it doesn't cramp the window seal too closely like the round base does. My $.02 Made out of metal instead of plastic like the newer ones 🤕
  20. Both of my cars are sporting the Harada PM-13. It's what was on both of them when I bought them. I was able to find some NOS ones on ebay back in 2018. They might have gone the way of the dinosaur by now...
