  1. too bad you're on the east coast. Otherwise if in California, I'd give you a descent set of of the E30 Bottle Cap wheels for local pick up.
  2. I remember once about 20 years ago I was driving back home to Santa Cruz on HW 1 from surfing along the Big Sur coast south of Monterey. On the side of the road was a pristine 507 parked on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere without any top on it. I pulled over and checked it out for about 10 minutes before heading back on my way. It was pretty early in the day and there wasn't anyone in sight near that beautiful car. It always blew me away that it was just sitting out there...
  3. I flushed mine out with water, drained it as best I could. Then let bake in the hot sun for about a week during the day, then back in the garage each night. Then taped up the inlet and outlet pipes with that blue painter's type tape. Stored it in the cardboard box that my new radiator came shipped in.
  4. Me, I've just been piddlin' around painting lug nuts. Thought I'd see how black looks. I kinda like it. Still waiting on Tyres...
  5. Those look great Steve. What are the widths and offsets on those bad boys? They look awesome. Which car will you put them on? Enquiring minds want to know ?
  6. I've only got a Blaupunkt radio (with Bluetooth module plugged in) with two speakers and no extra AMP, so I can sit and listen to tunes for 2 hours without any issues even when charging the iPhone (if listening through Bluetooth, rarely, mostly radio). I've got a really good high AMP alternator and a fairly new Interstate battery too. But, the jumper cables are always in the trunk just in case... ?
  7. On my tii's I like to have the radio connected to non-switched power because of the Electric fuel pump turning ON when switched power is turned ON. I know I risk leaving the radio on by mistake and thus draining the battery, but often I like to listen to the radio when the car is parked and turned off. If it wasn't a tii, I'd go with switched power though.
  8. Good idea. I could probably ovalize some of the mounting holes and possibly get the tank to not rub against the exhaust. The opening of the trunk floor where the tank fits doesn't seem to allow for a lot of movement right or left though, it's a pretty tight fit. If not, break out the Big f'in hammer. I repainted my original tank and it's back in there and working great, so I probably won't revisit this for years to come if ever. Someone might get a really good deal (cheap) on a new tii gas tank at the Brisbane marina swap & show meet next year, we'll see ? As far as paint goes. Krylon K09203007 'Rust Tough' Semi-Flat Black Rust Preventive Enamel - is a perfect match for the paint on the tank, ha ha! That's what I repainted my old tank in and also sprayed over the rub marks on the new tank. It matched perfectly.
  9. Every e9 owner's or wanna be e9 owner's wet dream. Every time I see a pic of a nice e9 I think. Why did I sell my e9, why why why? Frick! That car is drop dead beautiful. and the carbon fiber looks perfection. You guys are killing it ? I know from experience that the e9 hood weighs a ton (I replaced the hood on my previously owned car) and the best thing you can do is reduce weight in the nose of the car. Simply awesome guys... Glad to see that the owner retained the original chrome front bumper. Many remove the bumper to reduce weight up front, but the bumper is so beautiful IMO.
  10. Did you include a ground wire on the alternator itself? They usually have a little nut on one of the bolts on the alternator housing that you attach a ground wire back to the alternator mount where it bolts to the engine block or anywhere that's a solid ground. That's because the alternator metal body isn't grounded very well because of the rubber bushings in the mount insulating it from the block. Something like the brown wire in the pic. I stole this pic from another thread on this forum... From our good buddy Paul W (RIP) EDIT: Sorry, I reread the entire thread and see that the ground wire was already covered. Sorry folks...
  11. You did a fantastic job JC! I'm probably in the minority when it comes to the 13" wheel likers on this forum. If you still have those wheels, I would suggest that you hold onto them and keep them with the car. They are becoming very hard to find these days as most people ditched them a long time ago and now regret it. You might change your mind some day in the future. I only wish my cars looked as nice as yours. Again great work! It's cool to see the younger folks having an appreciation for these wonderful cars. A labor of love indeed. Cheers, John
  12. Now put those stock 13" steel wheels back on it ? Just kidding kinda, because I'm partial to the original steelies... Car looks great!
  13. Boy, that would have been convenient. When I pulled my tank out after the rubbing, draining the gas out of it was a pain in the butt. ?
  14. When I installed the tii tank I purchased from W&N, the filler neck also didn't line up exactly, but it wasn't as far off as the one in your pictures. I was able to hook it up without any modifications to the neck. The only issue I had was with the rubbing of my stock tii Eberspacher exhaust against the front left corner of the tank. All of the bolt holes for mounting it lined up correctly. Also not sure if these tanks were made by MVP or not. This is the only marking on the tank that I bought.
  15. Looks to be a 380mm Petri Steering Wheel == Perfect width for a 2002 IMO ?
  16. I don't think the hubs in this package are actual BMW made Turbo hubs. I think they're repro hubs, so they might not have the same effect as if using the actual BMW parts. Not sure. I guess I'll find out once I try to install them on my 73tii. I've got an extra set of tii hubs kicking around somewhere so should be able to compare the hubs against the tii ones even before I attempt an install.
  17. I just ordered a set. W&N also had a today only 5% off coupon that I applied which essentially paid for the shipping. The grand total shipped to California was around $1017 US Dollars. I've been looking at that package for a long time. Thanks for the heads up and confirmation that it fits the stock 13" alloys and fender clearance with 185's, John
  18. I used a little flat blade screw driver under the round part of the clip to carefully pry it off.
  19. The SEM Trim paint is pretty close to a semi-gloss black (maybe slightly flatter). It's creates a good tough flexible finish. It stands up to the elements well. When I refinished my stock tii gas tank I went with Krylon semi-gloss black. It matched the original finish perfectly. I even spot sprayed it on some exhaust rub marks on a new W&N gas tank and you couldn't tell the difference where the spot spray was compared with the original finish. I think the brake booster is about the same finish as a gas tank. I vote semi-gloss.
  20. Even repainted the lug nuts to get rid of the chrome bling... What a nut job I am eh? ? Scuffed them really good with 180 sandpaper before wiping them down and hitting them with self etching primer. Then the same wheel paint I used on the wheels. Then bake in sun for days...
  21. Finally scored some proper Ronal hub caps for my refinished Ronal Kleeblatt wheels. They fit perfectly and are very snug when snapped into place. Patiently waiting for the 185/70 13 Pirelli CN36s to be back in stock.
  22. I've wondered whether that Turbo vented rotor setup from W&N would clear stock 13" (13x5) wheels or not? I think the stock Turbo wheels were 13x5.5 and I don't remember their offset.
  23. I agree. What process did you use to polish them out so nicely? Car looks great!
  24. Bulbous front turn signals rule I tell you, they rule... ? Safety first ⚠️ Bulbous flares like the pic above also rule. At least on that car ?
  25. I also have one of the Silicon Garage radiators on my 74tii that I purchased from Curt (RIP) shortly before he turned the business over to somebody else. Like you say quality product. It's still going strong. Yearly coolant changes help a lot with keeping the stock radiators alive...
