  1. I had this early tii air box kicking around and decided to have it powder coated. I couldn't be happier with the results. If you're in the Santa Cruz area and need something powder coated, I highly recommend Powder Coat It. Jeremy and his crew do really excellent work. (831) 435-9558
  2. I actually love the look of that car. I bet it handles like a slot car ? Sorry if that was lost in translation ☺️ My silly sense of humor or lack there of... Whoever owns that car, I hope no offense taken. I love it!
  3. I'm sorry, that's just wrong! Just kidding ?
  4. Just for a little perspective regarding pricing. I just paid over $1000 for a newly rebuilt 4-speed. All of these parts are going the way of the dinosaur. And the dollar isn't exactly gaining in value either... All in fun ?
  5. The Thrasher got a new gas tank from Walloth Nesch for Father's Day. No more severely dented tank.
  6. 2nd in line if Spyder doesn't take them. PM sent. Thanks, John
  7. Don't be shy. Post up the pictures. My car is rusty too. I just got my '74tii back on the road after about 2 1/2 years of sitting. Glad you are able to drive it a little now. Cheers, John
  8. Livin' Large Steve. Ferry, where? what??
  9. That is really good news. If you don't mind, I'm sure many of us in the USA would love to see pictures of the engine bay on your car and also what year it is and possibly the VIN. We're always interested in seeing the European versions of the 2002tii. Glad you got it running. Good luck, John
  10. If you do end up having to change your coil, you need to make sure that the resistor matches the coil that you're using. The "so called" red coil requires a 1.8 ohm resistor. The "so called" black coil requires a 0.9 ohm resistor. And the "so called" blue coil doesn't require an external resistor. So, if you switch to a blue, you need to bypass the resistor. I say "so called" because these Bosch coils have changed colors over the years and are now silver with a sticker on them that says what type of resistor matches the coil if it needs one at all. Both of my tii's came stock from the factory with black colored coils that were labelled as needing a 1.8 ohm ballast resistor. So some folks would say they were the "red" type coils even though they were painted black. Confusing hey?
  11. Man, I wish I had those center caps and the Ronal lugs. Very nice.
  12. If the steering box pitman arm is still available, I'll take it. PM sent. Thanks, John
  13. I've always had good experiences ordering stuff from Ireland Engineering. Was happy to see that they have reproduced the little lock plates for the clutch slave cylinder on the 2002 4-speed transmission (this part has been NLA from BMW for years). I'm setting up a newly rebuilt 4-speed tranny for my 73tii and this piece I ordered from IE arrived today along with some other parts.
  14. Every Sunday my wife and I visit our favorite Taco truck in Watsonville. There's no shortage of trucks to choose from (probably at least 10 sprinkled throughout town). Normally my wife insists on driving us in her Honda. Today, I said "no way, I'll drive". So as we're heading down Freedom Blvd (the main drag in town), my wife turns to me and says "I feel poor when I'm driving in this car". It cracked me up. I say "people love this car, I love this car". So we hit Tacos Los Jacona for their awesome Michoacan style tacos and I get at least three people coming up and commenting on my car. Brought such a smile to my face ? PS, I knew ray_ was into Pizzas, didn't know he was branching out into the taco biz... ☺️
  15. I thought Thursday was hot. I headed down the coast yesterday and it was in the mid 90's. Beautiful as always...
  16. The good old Yakima Racks still work. Baking hot here today. Time for a little paddle... with the "Breaking Bad" style RV in the background ☺️
  17. You at least used to be able to get new bleeder screws with the rubber caps from BMW (Don't now if they're still available or not). Here's an old thread I had to search for where I show a picture and give the BMW part # and the various sizes, etc. Hope it helps... Edit: I searched on Blunt's website and they show them. I know that the 34111103232 part fit the front calipers on my tii's. That's all I know. Not sure about other models. The ones from BMW looked much shorter than the Dorman aftermarket ones shown on the left and they came with the rubber "Mushroom" caps when I got them in 2014.
  18. "At this rate I'll have to think of a new name for the The Thrasher..." I was thinking maybe "Pura chinga!" ? Like SydneyTii said: "I'll stop now" John
  19. It's like Christmas in June! Took advantage of the W&N 20 Euros off deal and ordered some stuff for the Thrasher. New OEM late style door panels in Marine Blue. They don't offer repros on the late panels so had to go with OEM ($$). Also a roll of their foil type door liner stuff. And... Look what the kind folks from W&N included for "free". A nice parts book in a binder and they even included a sticker and a little note pad. Aww! ? Freinds, I'm afraid that I'm beginning to slip down that slippery slope that we all know too well. At this rate I'll have to figure out a new name for The Thrasher...
  20. I forked out the dough for the OEM black early panels from W&N a while ago. The OEM panels don't come with the upper chrome trim pieces or the clamps for them. I reused the ones from my original panels which were still in good enough shape. They sell new of those upper chrome pieces, but they'll cost you. It looks like the repros might include those pieces.
  21. Just an FYI that SEM Trim Black works very well if you need to refinish the blacked out wiper arms used on the later cars. I think I'm going to try removing the rubber from a pair of those silver NAPA classic blades and try blacking them out using SEM. My 74tii is wearing black plastic blades and the arms could use a respray. Wind deflector on driver's side wiper arm only.
  22. You know. Come to think of it. Mine are probably 15" on my 73tii. I'll have to measure them the next time I'm with the car. The ones I have were sold through NAPA, but probably made by Trico and rebranded because they look just like those. I've got a bunch of them new in boxes (probably like 10 pairs). I think I bought a case of them way back when. Steve, I'll dig them out and I can give you a pair if you'd like. Let me know. I'll PM you. John
  23. Thank you very much for that information quant. I have the Hawk high performance street pads on my 73tii and I find that even the Hawk HPS pads squeal a little too much for my driving taste/style. So this is good to know.
  24. Those baby's are like gold Steve. I used to have some Bosch wipers of similar vintage that fit the 3.0 csi. They were longer (maybe 14 - 15") but didn't have the bayonet connection. I think I gave the wipers to Terry Conners when I sold him my 3.0 csi. I use 13" wipers on my 73tii and they look similar to those and work great. I think you can get the replacement rubber for those 13 inchers from NAPA.
  25. How do the Pagid vs Porterfield's compare for us mere mortals who just drive on the street and don't do any track days? I'm just interested in that kind of daily driving pads for the old guy who doesn't really push things too much anymore. Would appreciate recommendations for the old guy. I still Skateboard at 60 yo (that's why my back is tweaked) and I've heard the skater kids refer to me as "That Gray Guy" ?
