  1. Good old Krylon dull aluminum and Krylon Crystal clear. I've used the same combo on a set of 2002 steel wheels and they have held up great for years. I think it was Mike Self who recommended that paint many years ago on the FAQ. Thanks, John
  2. The only reason the wheels aren't on my car right now is because I need to refinish them again. When I bought the wheels, I had them bead blasted and then hit them with metal etching primer and 1Z brand silver wheel paint. Then I clear coated them using Wurth brand clear coat. The clear coat prematurely yellowed after about a year and they look like crap now. It really pissed me off. I won't use that clear coat ever again.
  3. I have a set of 13x6 Ronal Kleeblatt wheels. They are model number KBA 40020 13x6 H2 ET 28 (dated 1976) which is a perfect offset for a 2002. I ran them with 185/70 R13 tires without any issues. I bought them from Daniel and Jan and I think they ran them with 205/60's on their car. Can't answer your question about whether they will fit with bigger brakes. I had them on a stock tii with the stock tii brakes. The only thing I dislike about these wheels is that they use the shank style lug nuts.
  4. Just an FYI, the '74 3.0 csi that I used to own had a little plastic yellow tag on the resistor wire that was labelled 0.9 ohm.
  5. The square taillight 2002tiis have a resistor wire that's twice as long as the ones used on "regular" square taillight 2002s and has 1.8 ohms of resistance. The longer the resister wire, the more resistance... The original black coils used on "regular" 2002s specify to use a resistor with 0.9 ohms resistance. Not to be confused with the original black coils used on 2002tiis that specified to use a 1.8 ohm resistor. Hope that makes sense...
  6. I'd be in for two of these. Thanks Paul, John
  7. WRONG I just verified that both my 73tii & 74tii have the bolt-in fuel pickup and long filler tube. It must have been the 3.0 csi that I used to own that had the twist-in pickup.
  8. I know that my 73tii has the twist-in type of fuel pickup and my 74tii has the bolt-in kind.
  9. Now that's a great reason for me to keep my set of bottle caps. Love your clean engine bay and trunk. Nice work
  10. My 74tii came with the standard 4-spoke fake leather/foam grip wheel. It doesn't have a hard plastic grip. I believe it to be original, but can't be entirely sure since I'm not the original owner.
  11. nice score on the wheels. That vintage Continental tire is cool too. I'd keep it as a spare just because it's old and cool looking
  12. Love seeing the mad scientist at work. Keep it up Pat!
  13. I like the Wurth rubber glue. Works great for the rubber door seals too. https://www.wurthusa.com/Chemical-Product/Adhesive-and-Bonding/Glues/Rubber-Molding/c/14020403
  14. Any place that sells OEM BMW parts will have them. For example: https://www.blunttech.com/shop/W0133-1628626-OES
  15. For those wanting to refinish their late black wiper arms. SEM Trim Black works great for the re-paint.
  16. The late style steel wheels moto the best. Especially when never refinished like Carls ?
  17. The contact cement probably burned up after the first day of driving the car. It was just to keep the donut oriented correctly while I tightened up the clamp.
  18. When I purchased my first BMW (a 1974 2002tii) back in 1986, it had these "weird" 6Jx13 minilite magnesium wheels on it. I didn't like the look of those "weird" wheels, so the first thing I did was trade them to a friend for his set of the stock steel wheels. What a dummy I was ? It had the magnesium lug nuts too...
  19. When I replaced the stock exhaust with a new OEM one, I was doing the job myself without a helper to hold things for me. I ended up using contact cement on the donut and glued it into the bell-mouths on either side and it held the donut in place long enough for me to get the clamp tightened without the donut moving around. It sealed really well.
  20. Yes, would like to find a nice set for my "square taillight car". My '74tii ☺️ Some day, Some day The ones made by Mahle seem to fetch a higher price than the FPS ones for some reason. The FPS ones have the 36111114231 part number like Dionk's, not sure about the Mahles.
  21. Should be 5Jx13 ET:28 Period correct for the square taillight cars. (<< I mean 2002s, not E21s or E30s)
  22. In the interest of not spreading misinformation, I deleted my post ? Many users of the 123 ignition have successfully used the 123 and the Red coil without the ballast resistor.
  23. I'd be partying too if I had that lift. Envious ?
  24. Les, Pulling and rebuilding the heater box is one of the 'rites of passage' in 2002 ownership ? Seriously, it isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It's a very satisfying fix once it's all back together and you've got a strong blowing HOT heater in the car. I use my '74 as my surfing vehicle here in Northern Cali, so a good heater is a must for thawing out after a morning surf session. That car gets exposed to all of the bad things (salt, sand, saltwater) and keeps on ticking. Good luck, John
