  1. I have one here part # 64-21-1-353-368 small end (input heater valve) ID = 17mm large end (connects to block) ID = 20mm
  2. I bought that set up plates at one of the Brisbane swap & shows many years ago. Not sure if that plate number is already taken by somebody else or not. I don't think I would ever put them on one of my cars. If someone finds out that the plate isn't already taken and wants to buy them, I would happily sell them... cheap ?
  3. These have been collecting dust in my garage for years. I always thought that Bimmer sounded weird even though I was told the history behind it. two-thousand-twos is what I call em
  4. Looks like it was used on a lot of the cars throughout the 80's
  5. I just ordered one of these for a 242 4-speed I'm rebuilding. Might fit the 240, who knows... 21-11-0-670-050
  6. Having what I call the "regular" tapered style lug nuts like BMW used on their alloy wheels is a big plus to me. I have a set of Ronal Kleeblatt wheels that I love except that they take the shank style lug nuts (which I think are a PITA). But, that's just my opinion ? Thanks for all the great info as usual John
  7. I love the look of the Cosmic mk1. What type of lug nuts do they use? The tapered type or a shank style lug nut. Anyone know?
  8. I guess the only way to see them is by removing one of the side grills and then trying to take a picture from behind? Do you use 4 of them, one on each corner?
  9. any pics of them installed? Would like to see where they go. I know that my 73 doesn't have them anymore. My paint in those protected areas could be f'd up already though... ? On further looking at the part, does this allow the grill to snap in place while you secure the top and bottom bolts? Making sure that it's square? Then you throw them away ?
  10. If the fan motor still has the black plastic dust cover covering the the top bushing it can be a challenge to get oil in there. The cover does unsnap from the motor, but they can be fragile after years of heat. Here's a picture of that dust cover to give you an idea. Like Simeon said, there's definitely some past threads on this topic and interesting solutions other folks came up with. If you pull the box, you can unclip the fan motor from it's cage and clean it really well and lube it up easily. I had one motor that I thought was completely seized up. A little TLC and it's been working fine for a long time. Good luck
  11. You can probably use something like Wurth HHS-2000 spray grease to get a lubricant in there. It's great stuff. Sprays as a liquid and then hardens into a grease. Great for the 2002 door hinges.
  12. Judging by the 'Capitola' license frame and the KPIG sticker, that car probably spent some time in the Santa Cruz area where I live. KPIG is one of our local radio stations 107 Oink 5 (107.5 FM)
  13. I just noticed in the pics that the shortened shift platform on this 5-speed conversion doesn't have any kind of brace on it. Most conversions provide some kind of bracing to stabilize the platform. Maybe you removed the brace to gain access? It's got Toby's preferred older style shift rod ? Which must have been shortened for the 5-speed? I originally thought I was looking at a 4-speed...

  15. @02Anders Lovely view and those wheels look awesome.
  16. I always tighten the oil filters by hand. But have a hard time getting them loose by hand. I must be over tightening them I guess. But as conkitchen says "what do I know" ?
  17. Off topic, but if you always use the same type of oil filter... And I do use the plastic baggy tip, works great ?
  18. Stock #7333 for the BP6ES. Yes BP5ES is hotter than BP6ES. Opposite with Bosch W8DC hotter than W7DC...
  19. Wow, didn't know that there were two types from NGK. Here's what the box from mine look like (Stock #7832 for BP5ES): Used a vice-grips to unscrew the cap.
  20. The NGK plugs usually come pre-gapped, or pretty close. I bought some sets of old Bosch W8DC plugs from a guy in Australia and the plugs have ends that are crimped and a PITA to unscrew. The NGK ones are easy.
  21. I scored this NOS tii throttle body off ebay from a guy in Serbia. Had been sitting on the shelf in his repair shop for years. I paid $600 which was kind of expensive, but I was happy to find it.
  22. Fred looks great. Reminds me of the old HO scale slot cars
  23. Yes, the plugs don't screw in all the way. I believe that is because they are tapered plugs. The new ones that I got from BMW are the same way. They only screw in part way and then become a tight fit.
