  1. I've run into the same issue on my two tiis. Both have beefier (Dinan) anti-sway bars. I unbolt one side of the bar to get the alternator out. It's still a PITA though...
  2. There's a .PDF with a review of various classic Porsche tires on the Longstone site. The Pirelli CN36 came out on top, with the Vredestein Sprint Classic a close 2nd. Here's the link: http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/classic-porsche-tyres
  3. Longstone was such a pleasure to deal with ($135 per tire shipped free). I wonder what the wear rating on these tires are? Couldn't find any wear rating data on the tires or on the web. After driving on them for a couple of weekend drives I assume that they are fairly soft. We'll see. I absolutely love driving on em! I spent more $'s on the tires for my '95 Suburban, so these seem relatively cheap. Cheers, John
  4. When I redid the seats on my '73, I lightly scuffed the existing paint with very fine wet or dry sand paper, wiped it down with thinner, and then painted over that existing splatter paint with SEM semi flat black trim paint. Tried my best not to sand down the splatter too much before painting over the top of it.
  5. Took a drive up in the Santa Cruz mountains. Tires are sticky and responsive. These replaced the previous Yokohama AVID T4s that were on the car and were 14 years old (NOT SAFE). Amazingly good tread for how old they were. Those Yokohama tires were great tires while they still made them in 185/70 13. Glad to have some SAFE tires back on the car.
  6. I had to scan this for Paul... It's amazing the stuff we hang onto over the years
  7. Not bad for 44 year old wheels...
  8. No shortage of Mexican food up here in Watsonville. D'la Colema market is my daily morning stop http://dlacolmenacatering.com/ Due to high colesterol, I had to switch from 'Chorizo & Potato' to 'Cactus & Egg' breakfast burritos Their parking is limited, so no BMW meet could be had there...
  9. Well, I "held my taters" and the other two tires arrived through FedEx today. Turns out they got misplaced at the airport (SJC) when they landed the same day as the other two. Can't wait to get them installed and drive on them. Fresh too. All of mine were produced in the 3rd week of 2017 *(0317)*
  10. Here's a link to a thread where I list the sizes and where you can buy the O-rings for the heater valve. Looks like you have one of the heater valve rebuild kits that Blunt sells. They work great. I had one of the all brass valves seize up on me, so now I'm partial to the valves rebuilt using the kit. They have a really smooth open/close action after the rebuild and I like the stainless steel threaded rod that will never strip out. Good luck, John
  11. Two of mine arrived yesterday. Now I'm stressing on where the other two are...

  14. Longstone also has the Michelin XDX in 185/70VR13 @ ~$174 ea http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/185-70vr13-michelin-xdx.html
  15. I just ordered a set from Longstone. Free shipping and no tax = $540 for a set of 4. Will go on my '73tii. John
  16. Hey Steve, were you holding a treat to get your bulldog in that picture? Those tires and the dog look great! John
  17. I remember them being a pain to get in too. I used some soapy water and a bamboo skewer stick (like for Kabobs) to poke the tip into the hole and then twist them in. Good luck, John
  18. That is amazing work conkitchen. Thanks for the link to the blog, John
  19. Can anyone who has these tires post a picture of them on their car? I'm thinking of buying a set. Thanks, John
  20. Great pictures. Bummed I had to work last weekend and missed it. What's the story on that light tan "cardboard" engine? Thanks, John
