  1. Yes, that relay is what switches between the two power sources (when starting vs. engine running). Hopefully you didn't remove or switch any of the wires going to it. Volt meter is the best way to check things. I've seen fuses that appear to be good. Then you check for voltage across them and see that they are burnt. One piece of advice I can give for the future is always take good pictures of things before you take them apart. I try to take tons of pictures beforehand so that I can remember exactly how things are supposed to go back together. I do that because I'm by no means an expert. Having a wiring diagram for your car is also a good thing. Volt meters are cheap. Good luck, John
  2. I don't know. It looks like it's set up correctly to me now. Time to hook up a volt meter and try to figure out if you're getting 12v at the positive connection on the coil when trying to start and then I'm not sure where to go from there. You might check your fuses to make sure you didn't pop one when you had it hooked up incorrectly before. I can't remember which fuse number controls power to the green wire with the right angle spade connector. Anyone remember?
  3. Later cars might be wired differently. I don't know anything except the two 2002s that I own '73tii & 74tii. Good luck, John
  4. The spade connector with two green & red wires going into it should be on the + side of the coil. See my picture above with the numbers for an explanation. Hope this helps, John
  5. This should explain it for you. #1 (solid green wire with right angle spade) is hot when the engine is running. (stepped down voltage after the resistor). #2 is hot when the engine is being started (full voltage from battery for extra boost when starting) #3 positive wire to Pertronix. #4 negative wire to Pertronix. #5 (solid black wire) to negative terminal on coil. Green arrow is the current flow when the engine is running. Red arrow is the current flow when the engine is being started.
  6. Hi Nomad, Mine is using a Pertronix (same idea as a HotSpark) and you can see in the photo that the Red wire with the Red push on connector is connected before the resistor, so it gets the full 12 volts. The stepped down voltage is what comes out of the other side of the resistor and connects to the coil (Red and Green wire). When using a resistor wire, you do need to either run an additional wire from the fuse box, or splice in an additional wire right where the resistance wire begins, not where it ends at the coil. I had to do that on my '74 2002tii that has a resistance wire. Good luck, John
  7. Phantom, Looks like you have a '72. What was the old coil setup on your car? Was it running before you changed things? John
  8. Here's the pics of what I was talking about with the epoxy putty to hold the caps on. Also a picture of one of my wheels. I need to refinish them again because the Wurth clear coat yellowed after a little over a year. Pissed me off that I need to redo them again so soon. Maybe powercoat next time. Cheers, John
  9. Hi Jim, I have a similar set of Ronal Kleeblatts and I used the same type of BMW caps on mine. My wheels weren't powder coated (just blasted and painted). The caps fit well, but I ended up loosing a couple over time. I eventually took a little dab of that epoxy putty that you mix together like clay and pressed a little bit on the hub cap and inner rim to hold the caps in place better. Never lost another cap after that. The epoxy can then later be easily removed if you want to take off one of the caps. I will try to take a picture to show you what I'm talking about. John
  10. Example of a black topped one. No 'Made in Germany' label. Probably Brazil.
  11. I wonder how many different colors Bosch had for the plastic top on the red coils that were actually red? I would call this one NOS (new old stock). Red with a gray plastic top. Made in Germany. I've seen tan tops, brown tops, black tops, but never gray. How about the box?

  13. Hi guys, No, I would rather not deal with trying to ship the tii brake calipers. They are too heavy and would end up costing you more than if you ordered them from your local Kragen/O'Reilly parts place. They are tii specific parts, so wouldn't work on a regular 2002 unless the car has been upgraded with tii struts. Thanks, John
  14. Thanks for the information Anders. I guess I'll find out how the paint looks beneath the rubber bases on my flag mirrors when the new trap mirrors arrive. Good thing I'm used to learning through the school of hard knocks John
  15. Hi Colorado_M, No, I won't separate the BMW horn button from the steering wheel with solid hub. I will ship you the black Momo horn button. Sent you a PM. Thanks, John
  16. Bump, added more items. Early E21 hubs for vented rotor upgrade using tii struts. E30 M3 Skate Deck from Elefant Supply Co.
  17. Thanks for the confirmation John. I'll probably end up doing the same. I switch the front kidney grill on my coupe from the all silver to the chrome and black when the mood strikes. I'm weird like that. Thanks, John
  18. I'm really looking forward to the show this weekend. Bummed that I won't be driving my orange tii, but need to unload some more For Sale items so will be driving the Chevy Suburban parts hauler. That shirt design looks great. See you guys there, John Congrats to the parents of the new Graduates!
  19. Wow, sorry to see this Daniel. Glad that you are OK. Yes, my 11 year old daughter is already talking about what type of car she wants. She insists that she is going to get a Yellow Mini Cooper. I say, "Start saving your money now..." John
