  1. I hear ya. At these prices I've been thinking about putting my '73 on the block Then I could get my coupe painted
  2. $23,275 Not that I think it's really worth that much...
  3. Hello myFirst1600, what color is your interior? I'm not very knowledgeable about the 1600. Are the rear cards the same as a 2002? I've got a pair of dark blue (navy) 2002 rear door cards that are in good shape I would be willing to sell ($75 for the pair). I live close to the Aptos area too. Aptos High class of '80 John
  4. I too have had great results using the Krylon Dull Aluminum combined with the Krylon Clear. I would not recommend using the Wurth clear wheel paint as a clear coat. I painted some Ronal wheels and clear coated them using the Wurth clear wheel paint. The clear coat yellowed after only about a year. I now need to redo the paint on the wheels because of the yellowed out clear coat. On the other hand, I painted my stock steel wheels with Krylon Dull aluminum and Krylon clear many years ago and it has never yellowed. Just my $.02, John
  5. Think of it this way... for $2300 your car got to snuggle with a Ferrari for a couple of nights. Bargain
  6. I know it's a little late now, but I believe that JayMic in the UK stills sells a reproduction of that tii return pipe. Part #02C0.1095 on their site (£60.65). I bought one last year from them. John

  8. Cheers to you cda951. I'm hoisting one up in honor of this post. My 74tii has a snorkle and I know all of the history behind it. Rear ended someone back in the 80's in the rain on HW1 in Santa Cruz going about 10 MPH in stop and go traffic. Still drive it daily and love it!! I think having that imperfection has actually allowed me to enjoy the car the way it was meant to be enjoyed... Drive the crap out of it That's not to say that folks with pristine cars don't drive the crap out of them too, At least I hope they do.
  9. Very sad news indeed. Bowie last week and now Glenn Frey. Two of my favorites. R.I.P.
  10. Bluetooth Apple version? That is exciting. Looking forward to hearing how it works for you.
  11. That is an awesome reflection picture COOP. I like the way you got a little slice of those Michelins in there. Sweet.
  12. Does the 318i alternator bracket fit the tii? 2002#2 has a '74tii. I know that the tii alternator mounts differently than the regular 2002s .. No?
  13. I too have been using a couple of BNR high output alternators for a number of years without any issues. I'm weird and removed the internal regulators on mine and replaced them with other brush units so that I could keep using the external regulator and still get the higher AMP output. But, like I say, I'm weird. External regulators work very well IMO.
  14. Bosch W7DC are basically equivalent to NGK BP6ES as far as the heat range goes. No internal resistor on either plug. Bosch W8DC are basically equivalent to NGK BP5ES as far as the heat range goes. No internal resistor on either plug. So, they work in 2002s and I seem to remember that W7DC was standard for the tii because of it being a cooler plug than the W8DC. Cooler plug was used on the higher compression tii engines. Keepers for sure.
  15. I just remembered another thing that you may or may not have done already. Since you're going to be using the stock resistance wire, you'll want to splice in another wire before your resistance wire starts and run it to the positive side of your Pertronix unit. The + side on the Pertronix should be hooked up ahead of the resistance wire. I believe that the resistance wire starts about half way between the coil and the fuse box on a '76. Others have posted photos of that here, but I don't have time to search for them now. Hope that helps, John
  16. Here's a Bosch 00010 coil on e-bay that's actually black: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-BOSCH-AUDI-BMW-MERCEDES-PORSCHE-VW-BLACK-IGNITION-COIL-00-010-0-221-119-021-/201402126449?hash=item2ee4809071:g:d2UAAOSwu4BVw14Y&vxp=mtr
  17. It can be confusing because people refer to the coils by their historical colors. The newly produced Bosch coils can appear quite different in color depending upon when it was produced. The 00013 "red" coil I think is silver with red sticker now. The 00010 "black" coil is silver with green sticker now. The 00012 "blue" coil is silver with blue sticker now. The 00013 needs a 1.8 ohm external resistor (either ceramic or wire). The 00010 needs a 0.9 ohm external resistor (either ceramic or wire). The 00012 has enough internal resistance and doesn't need an external resistor.
  18. Nice tii. Everyone knows that Inka is the best What type of wheels are on that bad boy?
  19. I ordered one earlier this year from BMW for my '74 3.0csi and it was silver with green sticker (Made in Brazil). I eventually purchased a NOS one (Made in Germany) on e-bay that is black. P.S. anyone listening in. Don't order your coil from BMW thinking that the black coil might actually be black. You'll end up getting the same Bosch coil (silver colored) that you can get from excellent vendors like Blunt except you'll pay about double for it. ... AMHIK
  20. Trying to measure a small resistance value can be kind of hard. Unless you have a really good meter like a Fluke (which are $$'s). If your '76 has the stock resistance wire, it should be 0.9 ohm and therefore work with the 00010 coil. If you take off the old coil and list the numbers stamped into the bottom of it here, we can probably confirm that it's one of the black coils that work with the 0.9 ohm resistance wire. Hope this helps, John
  21. 02s are the ultimate surf machines IMO. A little bit of salt water never hurt anything ... unless you really care about rust I agree that Skateboard is lame
  22. I believe that they switched to the blacked out wiper arms and blades on the square tailed cars '74 and up. At least in the US they did.
  23. Just for the record, I drove my '74 tii in the rain today. Glad we're finally getting some of the wet stuff here in the Monterey Bay area today
