  1. too bad they didn't paint the whole car gray and keep the chrome trim. I like the gray.
  2. Another thing that has been debated quite a bit on other forums (like E9Coupe.com) is how the center gets painted. Do you stop the black paint right at the edge (like on the CoupeKing wheels), or do you extend the circle beyond the edge like in the attached picture. I guess it's all a matter of personal preference. I've seen it done nicely both ways. But I've also seen the extend beyond the edge method done poorly where it really looks bad in my opinion. I'm leaning toward stopping the black paint at the edge on my wheels and using a paint color like the attached pic.
  3. CoupeKing sells some really nice reproduction Alpina wheels for the E9 coupe. The pictures of the wheels on Peter's website can serve as a good reference for what the correct center color on the wheels should be. I have a set of real Alpina 7x16 & 8x16 staggered alloys that I need to have refinished and a couple of the wheels have the original paint. CoupeKing's wheels look correct. The center color has a tiny bit of metal flake in it. Probably pretty hard to find an exact match. http://www.coupeking.com/?post_type=parts&p=4897
  4. You might want to check that your instrument cluster is properly grounded and that the electrical connections are all clean and tight and good. I've added extra ground wires on the clusters on both of my cars to correct issues with gauge readings bouncing and the turn signal indicator lights on the cluster not always working correctly. Otherwise the new turn signal relay is part#61311364984. Good luck, John EDIT: I think that some folks have successfully opened up the relay and cleaned the contacts within it that are sticking.
  5. I use Prestone coolant too. I'm not THAT anal, just about some things
  6. I cringe when I see people using those U.S. style hose clamps with the slots in them. They bite into the hose and don't work very well IMO. I always go with Gemi style hose clamps. Preferably BMW ones, but that's just me... BelMetric is your freind: https://www.belmetric.com/metric-clamps-norma-hose-clamps-c-15_145.html
  7. On the E9 forum I described how I added a low voltage starter relay on my '73 tii. Here's the link: http://www.e9coupe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16071
  8. What he said BTW, the company that I work for 'Granite Construction' is one of the selected builders of the new Tappan Zee Bridge. Hope it's a successful project. http://www.tappanzeeconstructors.com/
  9. My 13x6 ET 28 Kleeblatts are dated 76. I had to do what Jim said to get the stock center caps from my steel wheels to stay put. I lost one of them early on then added some RTV and lip bending to hold them in place.
  10. I wish the Sumitomo HTR T4 tires were still available in 185/70 13. I'm running them on my '74tii and really like them. I went to order another set recently and couldn't get them. Jim, it looks like you've got a set of Ronal Kleeblatt (cloverleaf) wheels? I'm running my HTR T4's on Ronal Kleeblatt wheels. I love those wheels (except the shank style lug nuts). What size are your Ronal wheels Jim? Mine are 13x6 ET 28 which fit the 2002 perfectly. They even fit when using 205/60 13 tires without rubbing. Thanks, John
  11. Looks like my daily driver "Thrasher" is supposed to look. Except mine doesn't have a sunroof. Nice looking specimen from the outside pics. 75K or 175K? The world will never know I wonder if it has a snorkel
  12. It's the smaller 6mm thread size that is significant. See where it says M6 vs. M7 in the attached pictures from Ate? Unless you like trying to cross-thread the wrong size screw into a smaller hole
  13. I have in my records that the 1600 takes yet another different sized bleeder valve for the front. 7mm threads, but slightly longer:
  14. Remember that the front and the back 2002 bleeder valves are different... front 7mm threads, back 6mm threads. Also, you can get those speed bleeders in stainless steel too. I've tried them and I prefer to use my Motive pressure bleeder and the stock Ate bleeder valves (BMW part#34 11 1 103 232 (these are for the front calipers))
  15. Yes, it takes two bushings that are made of plastic/nylon type material. Part #35314640116
  16. You can probably find the correct sized O-rings here: http://www.theoringstore.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=368 Good luck, John
  17. I went home for lunch yesterday and when I was getting into my car to return back to work, FedEx showed up with a BIG box of parts. Popped the box into the trunk of my tii and drove back to work. Lucked out... this time John
  18. Keith Kreeger did an excellent reference of tii hoses: http://www.my2002tii.com/spring_2005/tiihoses.htm I'm also going back to it as a reference. EDIT, I see Carl beat me to it. Sorry, John
  19. Does this look like his car?? Probably NOT!! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/early-bmw-cars-2002-bavaria-etc/766034-another-cali-barn-find.html?utm_source=pelican_bmwnewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20140312
  20. Last time I rebuilt the linkage on my '73 I used Mobile 1 synthetic grease. Also have used TriFlow drip oil to lube the throttle body shaft.
  21. You should be able to measure the inner diameter of the hole too. That way you'll know what you need.
  22. One of the best tools I ever bought was this cheap pair of metric calipers. http://www.harborfreight.com/6-inch-utility-caliper-7914.html I use it all the time to measure bolts so that I know what size they are. Once you get your old one out, you can measure the threaded part to see what size it is.
  23. Rainy day, dream away... smaller flat washers with bigger holes to make the pan heads screws recess more: Larger flat washers on the back side:
