  1. Another option is 1Z Einszett Silver followed by Wurth clear. Don't know how the 1Z product compares in "brightness" to the others. I'm going to be spraying that combo soon if the weather ever cooperates... I have used Krylon dull aluminum followed by Krylon clear in the past and the clear has seemed to yellow over time.
  2. I had Palo Alto Speedometer convert the clock in my '73 tii to a quartz movement back in the early 90's. It's hasn't skipped a beat and has been dead accurate ever since. They also fixed the VDO clock in my '74 3.0 csi which already had a quartz movement. http://www.paspeedo.com/
  3. I mounted Scheel Model 400's to the stock sliders by drilling extra holes to match the Scheel pattern into the custom Recaro Brackets that Dave Varco (Aardvark) sells. They sit at the correct height for me. If you know someone who wants to sell their set of Scheel sliders, I could use them for a set of Scheels installed into a 3.0 csi. Thanks, John
  4. These guys (GrimmSpeed Wheel Paint) claim to be a close match to the BBS Gold color: http://www.grimmspeed.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=144
  5. Check with World Upholstery: http://www.worlduph.com/
  6. And this too: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,357375/highlight,legends+tire/ Federal 595 205/60 13 info...
  7. You can download the BMW 2002tii Fuel Injection System Manual here: http://2002tii.org/kb/59 Lots of useful information there.
  8. I know that the front bleed screws on tii calipers are M7 x 1.0 thread. Not sure if the're the same on regular 2002 calipers. I'm pretty sure that the bleed screws on the rear wheel cylinders are different M6 x 1.0 thread. The stock tii bleed screws are BMW part #34 11 1 103 232 I just ordered a bunch of them and they are the original Ate made ones and came with new "mushroom" caps. I have always used Ate DOT 4 brake fluid. I prefer their "Typ 200" fluid which is the same as the "Super Blue" but Amber colored. John
  9. You should read this FAQ, It's an interesting read: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/content/view/69/32/ It explains why the blue coil is actually a down-grade from the original coil that requires the external ballast resistor (or the resistor wire used on the 1974 and later cars). Basically, you loose the boost function of the coil (during starting) if you set up the blue coil properly. Blue coils work fine as long as you bypass the ballast circuit correctly. On some cars, like tiis, you might want that boost (extra spark) when starting. Best to leave it as BMW designed it. I've found that all of my original "Black" coils are the same as the "Red" ones sold today. My black ones have stickers on them saying that they require the 1.8 Ohm ballast resistor. I guess some 2002's came with Black coils that required a different 0.9 resistor, so check what you've got. Your resistor should be marked on it's metal base with either a 1,8 or a 0,9.
  10. Buy a gallon of denatured alcohol from the local hardware store for cleaning up brake fluid. It works great for clean-up. I learned that from reading the label on the Motive pressure bleader on how to clean it. EDIT 08-03-2011: Don't get the Craftsman flare nut wrenches, they suck. Invest in top-notch ($$) flare nut wrenches (Snap-on, Hazet, etc.)
  11. If you're looking for the yellow zinc coated nuts and bolts, BelMetric is a good source. I like McMaster Carr also, but BelMetric for the Yellow zinc stuff. http://www.belmetric.com/
  12. My brother used to have a Datsun 240Z that had wheels that looked like those. I remember them being popular back in the day with the Z crowd. Not sure what they're called though.
  13. No ET18 is the standard offset for E21 (320i) wheels. Not the ideal offset for a 2002.
  14. A while back I installed an old Blaupunkt mono radio in my '73 and to this day, I still miss that little cargo space in front of the shifter. The radio looks cool, sounds OK, but I still miss that space. Just another opinion and we know what those are worth :-)
  15. Great job on the video! Also love the skateboard. Will mount new trucks and wheels on it soon. No wall hangers here! John
  16. Based on the part # 1 368 769, looks to be a speaker fader control from an E30. You could use that with a mono radio to fade between two speakers.
  17. Edward, Somewhere on this site was a post from a guy showing pictures of how he cut an access hole to get to the back side of the bracket to repair it. I tried to find the post, but gave up after a while. Search and ye shall find. Good luck, John
  18. Man Frenchee, that sucks. My horn hasn't worked on my daily driver for over a year. Time to buy that new carbon pin and install it pronto. Hope everything works out for the best. John
  19. Sounds like lack of good grounding on the temp/fuel gauge portion of the cluster. Unless someone has gone into the cluster before and added the additional grounding, it won't be there. Here's how I did mine, or use the search: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/p,826499/highlight,/#826499 John
  20. Hi Ray, Payment sent for pick-up of one Black/Orange in Brisbane. Thanks, John
  21. Another tip is to use a cable like the one shown in the link below: http://www.cyberguys.com/product-details/?productid=42718 That way you tap into the line level audio outputs directly from the 30-pin port of the ipod instead of through the ear-phone output.
  22. Call Kingsbourne and ask them to sell you a loom tube (I think they use one from their Audi wire set). They have them. They will also sell you a wire set for the 02 in a loom tube, but you have to call and ask for it. Their standard 02 wire set doesn't come with the tube. John
