  1. Your best bet is to check with DoubleO2 Salvage in Hayward. I've bought a couple of nice doors from them. John
  2. Do your self a favor and buy a set of these stainless steel T-bolts made by fellow FAQ'er RIMSPOKE. They are the best for connecting the front part of the trim ahead of the clips: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-2002-2002tii-STAINLESS-ROCKER-MOULDING-FASTENERS-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4aab1a2032QQitemZ320698196018QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

  4. How are your door brakes? When I took off my door panels the 1st time, the remnants of the broken door brakes were inside the lower part of the door. Make sure you clean out the lower inner door area so that the drain holes aren't clogged.

  6. I'd like to reserve one of the black & orange too. Any chance that you'll do some in Inka?? Very cool! Thanks, John
  7. InkaSteve, Love that 1st picture. :-) John
  8. Here's some similar Gotti wheels (but with gold centers) listed in the For Sale section a while back: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/p,826201/highlight,/#826201
  9. I'll be driving over from Santa Cruz. Should be at Hobee's around 7:30 am. See you guys there. Thanks, John
  10. Hi Brian, I'm going to try to meet up with you guys. I'll be heading over the hill from Santa Cruz. Will try to be there around 7:30 so that I can grab breakfast. Thanks, John
  11. Just curious. What is the advantage of the upside down style of shocks? Is it just for the original coolness factor, or is there some other purpose? Thanks, John
  12. This site is cool too: http://www.histowheels.com/
  13. Yes, you can swap the gauges from a wood grain surround into the black surround. But you can't go the other way (gauges from a black surround into the wood grain surround) because of the little Brake Failure button on the fuel/temp gauges from the black surround. Likewise, you'll have an empty hole where the button is supposed to be if you swap the wood grain gauges into the older all-black surround. One way to rectify that is to unscrew and swap the face plates on the fuel/temp gauges so that you can have a newer style cross-hair face plate on the older fuel/temp gauge that has the little button for testing the brake warning light.
  14. Check this FAQ, That's where I learned how http://www.bmw2002faq.com/content/view/94/32/ "10. Now move to the passenger's side front. Bleed in the same manner in the sequence of Upper, Inner and Outer (UIO)"
  15. Lots of glass shops carry Pilkington brand glass which is the same OEM that makes windshields for BMW now. The only difference is that it won't have the BMW logo on the glass and will cost a lot less. The last green one I bought was Pilkington and was 'Hecho En Mexico'. Looks and fits perfectly as long as you use a BMW seal. Just say no to URO!
  16. Here's a photo of how I added extra grounding to my temp-fuel gauges.
  17. That looks great. I have one of the Motive pressure bleeders and love it. One tip that I gleaned from the FAQ on brake bleeding was to NOT fill the bleeder with brake fluid and instead just use it for pressure. It takes longer because you have to keep filling up the brake fluid reservoir as you go, but it sure makes clean-up a lot easier when you're all through. --John

  19. I've been running one of those Wallouth & Nesch speedos in my '74 with a 3.91 LSD and I know that it reads correctly. I drive by one of those digital signs that reads out your MPH on the way to work. If you've ever messed around with your speedometer you'll know. It's easy to switch out the rear case. It's probably easier to slap on a new face plate (that fits over the needle) to essentially correct the read-out of a W=1,29 speedo to W= 1,39 than to really recalibrate the thing. Assembly-line engineering at it's best
  20. I have a couple of new 1,393 speedos that I purchased from Wallouth & Nesch a while back. Both of them are dated 7/76 and don't have that overlay. What's the build date stamped on the back of the case of your speedo? Curt may have been on to something. Those speedos with the overlay might just be a rare piece of BMW history. ;-) PS, Can anyone explain what the little white dots on the face of the speedo mean?
  21. +1 on the leaking rear window. You might also get some of that same leakage dripping into the trunk through the holes that are under the parcel shelf. --John
  22. If it's from a Bavaria or an E9, chances are the horn contact on the back of the wheel is a ring and not the carbon pin that a 2002 expects. It will fit, but might be a hassle to get the horn to work. What's the back look like? --John
  23. +1 I've purchased a couple of sets of his custom Recaro brackets. Great product and great service.
  24. If the flasher relay checks out OK, you might want to make sure that your instrument cluster is properly grounded. My Blinker light in the instrument cluster used to not always flash correctly until I ran an extra ground wire to the cluster.
