My 1973 tii has that same antenna as in HB Chris 's photo.

I've heard that the Harada PM21D works pretty good, but haven't tried one. I think they're still available if you search around in internet land.

For that price you would think that he would at least list the VIN# so that one could validate that it falls within the correct range for a valid CSL bat. Seems fishy to me and I live in Santa Cruz ;-)

With the face plate installed...

I also ordered one of the Parker Performance shaft style radio mounts. It will fit a Blaupunkt Frankfurt style radio, but the cut-out is a little bit too big so requires the use of a face plate. Here's what that one ended up looking like.

I've had this radio sitting around for a couple of years and finally took it apart and cleaned it up. It really just needed new bulbs installed. Then I installed it in my 2002 console using one of the single DIN radio mounts available from Mark Parker (www.parkerperformance.com). I'm really happy with the results.

My special bolt (BMW calls it a pin) also broke when I removed the cable from the valve. I ordered a new one from Max. Part #64114674219

Here's a picture of the heater valve in the Open (Heat ON) position.

I think I have one of those harness type dog seat belts that you can have. I'll try to find it in the garage. I'm just over in Watsonville.

Definitely check out the FAQ write-up on this. I just pulled and rebuilt the heater box on my 1974 and couldn't have done it without the instructions from the FAQ. My (newer style) heater valve started to leak, so I decided to bite the bullet and pull the entire box for rebuild. Glad I did because the seal around the top of the heater box was toast and water was leaking into the car next to the firewall and seeping down under the carpets. While I was at it, I had the heater core pressure checked and rodded out. One of the most worthwhile rehab projects I've done on my car in a long time. Good luck,

Thanks for all of the info. Both my 1973tii and my 1974tii have the newer flag style mirrors. I might switch the 1973 over to the trap mirrors at some point. Do the trap mirrors use the same mouting hardware as the newer style ones? Thanks,

OK, Did the search...

Not sure, but sounds like any 2002 from 1971 on should have the trapezoidal mirrors and what I call the 'later style' mirrors were never original on any year of 2002? Weird, almost all of the square-eye 74's - 76's that I've seen here in California had the square style mirrors.

Opinions?

I know I should do a search...

Does anyone know when the switch was made between the older trapazoid style mirrors to the newer square style? What type mirrors would be correct for a 1973 2002tii made in July of 73? Thanks,

I've noticed that the heater valve on my 1974 tii has started to leak. I've purchased a new valve, but was wondering whether the valve can be replaced without having to remove the entire heater box? I've looked at the leaking valve from the passenger side, but it doesn't look too easy to get to the bolt securing the valve to the mounting bracket nor easy to get to the bolt securing the lever to the valve. I'd just like to know whether it's possible before I make an attempt at removing it. Thanks, --John
