  1. What does anyone have for suggestions on treating these edges? I've got the rust leveled and out, but the metal is discolored. Should I POR them, wire brush, sand down to nothing? I'd like to spray epoxy on them soon to keep the rest sealed.
  2. Stripped the trunk lid surface the rest of the way today. It is very straight with a little surface rust under the trim. The hood isn't in as good shape. Has some bondo on the nose, I'm trying to get under it to push it out, or just find a new hood. I spent a few hours taking out a pair of dents back by the rear window. My wife started disassembling the seats to make new covers.
  3. Ken, Thanks, I'll have to take you up on that offer!
  4. Our 75 2002 project could really used a new pass side door shell as ours has a bit of rot in the skin and a crease from being hit. Anyone have a nice one? I'm in Charlotte NC Thanks,
  5. Okay, got my project blog started.... http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/t,320019/
  6. This is our first 2002, a 75 Auto we got local here in Charlotte. My wife wanted something with character, an auto tranny, a cd player and ac. This has 2 out of 4 to start. Initial craigslist photo... She runs and drives, has a bit of a tranny leak, but we have another tranny lined up from another list member already (THANKS!!) Trailered her home in the rain and started cleaning up last week. Started stripping paint and found beautiful steel. Hood is straight but has some rust on the nose. Roof is the same. Will be stripped.
  7. Did more stripping last night. There is a pretty naked lady under there. I'll try to get a blog started today. Hood has some previous filler work. Pass side had a dent I pushed out from the back.
  8. I'd do a 5 speed in a heartbeat, but its the wifes car and she wants an Auto. Gotta keep her happy. I'll try to start a blog, but I keep pictures here. http://s184.photobucket.com/albums/x311/jhelgesen/2002/
  9. Sounds great, we'll try to make it!
  10. Hi, new to the list here, wanted to share our project. My wife wanted something with an automatic and lots of character, so after looking at a few, we found her a project with a darn solid body and the requested auto tranny. CD radio and AC are on the list too Started stripping paint Sunday, as there are issues with bubbling under the second coat of paint. Trying chemical stripper to start. There is very pretty factory metal down there.... Interior is a bit worn, but we can work with it. Glad to be here.
