  1. Thanks. I haven't gotten around adjusting the front yet. Right now it's at maximum ride height. I've got an airdam to install still. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I just wanted to share some quick shots of my project. I've been working on this car off and on for about 4 years. This January I finally got serious and began prepping it for paint. The car was originally Chamonix. When I acquired it in 2009 it was painted Baikal. Then in 2012 I got in a fender bender and smashed the nose panel and right fender. Thats when I decided to go with some pig cheeks. I replaced the nose with a OEM nose panel from my local dealer, and the pieced the flares from Mana Motorsports and Ireland Engineering. My intention was to create a period correct looking street/race car. I always liked the look of the old racers with riveted rear flares, so I copied that look for my project. Plus it was less work! Haha. But really, I dig the look. I did all the body work myself, and with the help of a friend I painted the car Bristol. To give it an Alpina look I used plastidip to paint the topside of the car. Still have to cut and polish it. In addition to all the bodywork I installed IE front sway bars (already had the rears), IE front coilover, IE stage 2 springs with Billie sports, IE strut tower bar, Racetep rear brace, IE front brake kit, and IE rear 250mm drum kit. I also rebuilt the shifter, and replaced the guibo, CSB, door and window seals with parts sourced from Blunt. Of course, there's always more on the to do. Currently my list includes: upgrading to an 318i 80 amp alternator, electric fan, WN radiator, and new door cards. The FAQ has been truly been the most important tool in my tool box for the past 6 years. I had to show my support with the FAQ grille badge. If you don't have one I suggest you grab one. It helps support the site, and looks f'in' cool! Well, enough talk, enjoy the pics! A couple of old photos at various stages.
  3. *repost from "What did you do to your 2002 today" thread. Used some plastidip to give the car an Alpina look. After I changed my brake booster hose and valve, added the angled UNI filters I got on sale at Amazon, and replaced my valve cover with this non-ribbed one (sorry ladies.) 4. I'm almost certain they custom built those flares. I would ask around the Japanese Nostalgia website for clues. The flares look similar to the ones I've seen on old Datsuns, Toyotas, and so on. Also, there is a BMW 2002 Thailand page on Facebook. That guy has very similar flares on one of his 02s. Try sending him a msg. His name is Ram Masing. https://www.facebook.com/ram.masing/posts/887788914642718 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks for the input Steve. As of now I'm just happy to have them in my collection. I guess only time will bring the answers I'm searching for. Haha. Thanks for organizing all this information also. Really makes me appreciate these wheels even more. Regards, Jason Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Well I received the Alpinas yesterday. Like I said before, I believe these to be the same wheels that were referred to as 13x6 on page one. Came off of a Malaga roundie in Florida, but I believe this car came from the MidAtlantic region. I don't have proof of this but I remember following the car in threads throughout the years. The Alpina wheels always stood out to me. Anyhow, they are not 13X6. Bummer! They are all stamped 13X5 1/2. Some are stamped on the face and the race. Some only the race, but possibly there are stamps underneath the paint. And the "13X6" Alpina from page one for reference. I'm not sure what I will do with them. They would look funny on my pig cheeked 1600. Or will they? I would like to get them widened to 13x8 so I could use them, but I'd also feel a little guilty for altering them. Suggestions? 7. I have a 350mm Prototipo and 13x8 wheels. I don't find steering difficult, albeit I don't parallel park often. If I had a choice I'd rather have a 360-380mm Prototipo, but those are hard to find and out of my price range. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Rebuilt the shift linkage with a kit I ordered from Blunt. In the 6 years I've owned this car it has never felt this good moving into gears. After that I installed the driveshaft and drove the car around the block. Big difference in how the car feels now. I also finished installing the drivers side rear quarter window with new BMW seals. Little harder than the passenger side. Only because I have a fixed back OMP seat and it's hard getting to the backseats. Once that was finished I moved onto the door gasket from URO. What a PIA! The passenger side I had used a BMW door seal which went really smoothly. Only took about an hour. This URO seal took me 3! I had to cut it where the top meets the B-pillar in order to use it. It's like it was meant for the right side but was clearly stamped with an "L." I plan on replacing it with an OEM door seal when I get the chance. No nice pictures to show but here's a shot of the car after I finished everything last night. And a pic from a few weeks ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Alpina wheels have 20 spokes, OZs have 19. Also OZs have a large diameter center (the satin black area.) I believe Ronal made the original Alpina wheels. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. From your description the wheels are the same exact size and offset. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Well I just bought a set of 13X6 Alpina wheels. They are being shipped to VA from FL without tires. So I will be able to check the race for any markings. For some reason I believe these to be the same wheels owned by MartyR mentioned on page one of this thread. I say this because I vaguely remember a story of a Malaga 02 passing hands and ending up in FL. This car had Alpina wheels. The younger gent I bought them from replaced them with BBS RS wheels. He has since sold that car and put the Alpina wheels up for grabs. I don't have great pictures yet but will update once I have them in my garage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Wow! That is very cool! Do you know who will be in the passenger seat? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. I consider this pretty rare. NOS Hella Rallye 192. The box is why I like these so much. On eBay now but why out of my price range. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Got around to removing my old center bearing last night. The night prior I slimmed my 24mm box wrench on a table grinder. I shaved enough to where I could easily slip the box end onto the drive shaft nut. I picked up a piece of angle bar from Lowes to use as a brace for when I loosen/tighten the nut. I used the transmission flange to mark where to drill my holes and then attached the shaft to it using some M8 bolts I had laying around. Once the drive shaft was secured to the angle bar I laid it in the drive way and rolled my 4Runner over the angle bar for some added weight. I ended up having to cut the open end of my 24mm wrench so I could get my breaker bar on, but after that loosening the nut was cake. I made sure to mark the spines with a paint marker before disassembling the drive shaft. After that I used my hub puller to remove the old center bearing. When installing the new CSB I used some lithium grease to help facilitate getting it back on. Lined up my marks I made with the paint marker and tightened everything back up. Hopefully tonight I can get everything back on the car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Price:: 40 Location: : Virginia Beach Hello all, I'm selling this repair panel. Some idiot (me) thought it would be a good piece to practice inserting nutserts into. But if your welding these onto your car anyways this should be an easy plug. Sells for $73-75 from the dealer. You pay actual shipping and 3% PayPal fee. Msg me if interested. Left rear side panel PN 41351885105 Would do trade or partial trades for the following: Old style oil filler cap, set of vintage roundels, scale models of pig cheeked cars.
  21. Love the ATS Classics. Wish I still had mine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Well, I finished upgrading my front (Volvo) and rear (250mm drums) brakes. What a pain in the ass that was, one seized bolt after another. Literally took me two weeks to finish; however, now I noticed a leak at my brake master cylinder. I'm not looking forward to changing this out. Mostly because I hate bleeding brakes. Once I had my brakes sorted out, I got working on my driveshaft. The center bearing was toast. Everything was going very smoothly. Removed the bolts from the guibo/output flange no problem, removed three of the bolts from the differential flange no problem...bolt number four, problem. I figured I'd use the techniques I learned from removing seized bolts while working on my brakes. PB Blaster, heat, flare nut wrench. Nothing worked and I rounded off the nut...so I just cut it off. Got to replace em anyways. Told ya it was toast. I'll tackle taking apart the drive shaft after I rebuild my shifter. In the meantime I'll soak it with PB Blaster everyday until I'm ready.
  23. Just wanted to add pictures of my PHH 40's for posterity. (9525) My ports are plugged. 34 Choke tubes Is this a date stamp? (B.1.69) The 2nd carb has #'s that are not in a date format. (B.0.25) Close up. (140)
  24. Don't think these wheels are period correct for a 68 1600ti. You will want the Alpina steelies made by Borrani, Lemmerz, or CMR. Sorry forget which specific brand. Someone will chime in I'm sure. Now show us pics of the TI!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
