  1. This was my very first co-pilot Stuka! She passed away in '03 at 12 years old. She preferred to ride in my '73 Bavaria that I had at the time.
  2. So sorry to hear about Luna's passing. It's great that you have those beautiful pictures of her in your '02! Those are some of the best memories I have of my 2 pups who have passed away (Stuka and Rikka), tooling around in the 1600, windows down, sunroof open. Picture is of Rikka(driving) and one of my current co-pilots (Renner) as a pup. Godspeed Luna!
  3. Alex, My 1600 has been rebuilt twice! (Thanks to all the salt used in upstate NY). It has new fenders, rockers, rear wheel arch overlays, drivers side floor in back seat area. Base coat clear coat using the original Granada paint code. I took the guards off the front bumpers because at the time I thought it looked a little cleaner without them. As David says, give it a good shine by hand first, you may be surprised how well it shines up. Good Luck! Joe
  4. My VIN is 1570472, Thinking mine must be an early 1970 model. Congrats again & cant wait to see more pics. This really takes me back as this is almost identical to my car when I bought it! This is what it looks like now after 32 years of ownership. Still my favorite car to drive!
  5. Alex, Sweet! Love the car. I have a Granada Red 1970 1600 with manufacture date of November 1969. Definitely Granada Red. When I bought mine at 18 years old in 1985, the paint looked almost the same, a little more faded than yours. You are going to have a blast with that car. And yes, smog pump was on my car as well when I purchased it (single barrel solex). Keep us posted and post some pictures of the interior when you get a chance!
  6. Looks like a good platform! Welcome & Good Luck!
  7. bigcoupe.com for the E24 6 series. Great Information for the old 6 series!
  8. Very Nice! Love those 1600's! Mine will hit 50 in 2019! Congrats on a beautiful looking example.
  9. So sorry to hear about Skye. My GSD Rikka (The one in my avatar) passed over 3 years ago and I still really have not gotten over it. It does become harder the older you get. She loved to just sit in the 1600!. Would jump through the open window & sit in it for hours. The only way I could get her out was to take her for a ride first! Sydney- Love the Aussie Guard Dog!
  10. I thought the same thing when I first saw the picture. My German Shepherd is the same way and Lola (the Golden Retriever) is learning how to guard our house from him!
  11. Same Here! (But I like German Shepherds as well)
  12. Andersson, Same here, 1985, mix tapes, cruising in my 1600 from home to college: Autobahn by Kraftwerk was on there! great music to take a long drive with. I sometimes try to get away with it while traveling with my wife. (Usually doesn't go over well)
  13. I have that Steering Wheel in my 1600. It was not the original. The original was the big plastic Bus Wheel and I hated it. I found the smaller one in a '68 2002 that was in a junkyard, switched it over 30 years ago and have had no desire to change it. It is a great wheel! Enjoy
  14. That's where the turn signal is SUPPOSED to be! I still get mixed up at turns sometimes and end up turning my wipers on instead of the turn signal! Enjoy!
  15. I am lucky enough to have a local station that carries Sunoco non ethanol 91 octane. Have been using additives for the past 5 years or so with the ethanol but since I have access to non ethanol 91, no problems (Knock on wood!)
  16. I had the exact same thing happen to me about 25 years ago but on the drivers side of the car. Not texting but driver behind me not paying attention at a stop sign. It was during the vintage weekend at the Glen so I had to drive around the whole weekend with a buckled quarter and rear panel. It was not too difficult to fix. Got an estimate and the person who did it paid in full, no insurance involved (I got lucky in that respect). Good luck & keep us posted on the fix. From another fellow 1600 owner!
  17. Yeah, I know its a little early to put it away. The place I keep it has to have the cars put in first and then the rest of the unit is filled with rather large boats & RV's that cant fit along the sides of the building. But I do get a great break on the price. I will drive the 633 until the first snow, I would have put that away but it has sat for the past 6 years & I plan on working on it in my garage over the winter to fix all of the little things that pop up with a car that has sat for that long. I have an e39 I use as my winter car & it works great with snow tires (and heated seats, steering wheel) Its hard to give them up! Hope everyone can enjoy theirs for a while longer and for those in the south, thanks for reminding me winter is not a problem! Cheers! Joe
  18. Just had to put the 1600 away for the winter. It always bums me out because I am driving my favorite car through the valley, leaves are starting to change, windows down, sunroof open. I love that car & hate to put it away so soon, but I have a great space at a great price (about $25 bucks per month for heated garage with concrete floor!) so I guess its worth it. I guess I'll just have to drive the 633 I just picked up last month. Nice problem to have I guess. Here are a few pics of the 1600 right before I put it away and of the 633 I picked up.
  19. For a 1600 owner, that is the Holy Grail! Congratulations on a great find and please keep us updated on your progress.
  20. Sorry I missed those that were there! I have been attending since it started in the early 90's. The festival on the original course on Friday nights is always a blast! My son did the Glenkana in his Mini and had a great time. If you didn't see the 1600, that was because I had the 68 Mustang out for the weekend. Hope to see some of you next year and I will pay more attention to the posts! I completely missed Harv's original post. Hopefully I will be able to bring the 633Csi I just picked up next year!
  21. Aftermarket cruise, The turn signal stalk is not original and has the cruise on it. Will get a new main relay as I whacked the old one and no start. Battery is about 7 years old, held a good charge and cranks really fast but will change soon. Thanks again
  22. Mysterious yellow box and what I think is the main relay next to what I think is the ecu in the glove box.
  23. Thanks for all of the suggestions & I am getting used to the differences between this and the 1600. I have been searching for, finding, and trying to clean the contacts on the different relays. Still no luck. One thing I did find under the dash was a big yellow box that that an adjustment for sensitivity. I am wondering if that is a anti-theft device and has possibly shut the car off. Will send a pic of that shortly. If I have no luck over the weekend I will be headed to my mechanic to see if he can help. I'm just trying to do it on my own first. Thanks again.
