  1. Thanks! I will be out there in the middle of May and I plan on stopping by to introduce myself and my daughter and chat about some old BMW'S!
  2. My daughter is moving to San Diego next month and I am hoping to use La Jolla to service and maintain her e70.
  3. Nice post Mike! Also a proud 1600 owner and I was born just 38 days after the introduction of the new 1600-2. As a bonus,a few shots of what she looks like today.
  4. Nice Mike! Hope you, your wife, and Wolfgang are enjoying the beautiful Florida weather. It was -6 here in The Glen and wishing we were somewhere warm and driving the 1600!
  5. My wall art, a rendering of my 1600, back in 1988, by my brother, who is a pretty good artist!
  6. Ha ha ha! There is a reason why I did not post close up pictures of those wheels! They are truly junkyard wheels. I had to sand, grind and polish for ages just to get them to pass the 50 mph test.
  7. E30 basketweaves with a small (5mm I think) spacer, no problems. Found all 5 in a local junkyard and paid 20 bucks for each!
  8. From the tool kit, this is a 1982 633csi.
  9. My son at WGI over the past weekend: and if you have a little more time, some in car video. 20220807_131322.mp4
  10. Some of the BMW's I have seen at the festival over the years:
  11. The Glen vintage weekend is usually the weekend after Labor Day. This year it is from September 8 through the 11th. The Grand prix festival in the village takes place on Friday September 9th. There are activities all day long that include car displays and paced laps of the original 6.6 mile course. This years featured marque is the Ford Mustang, so most likely, my 1600 will not be there because I will have the mustang out for the festivities. By searching Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival 2022 on google, you will find the home page. It started in 1993 and I have been to or participated in every one. It is a lot of fun!
  12. My dad just sent me this, Watkins Glen 1949 GP, BMW 328 MM driven by Tony Pompeo. Crossing the S/F in front of the Schuyler County Courthouse. Most, if not all, of the buildings on the left are gone or part of the State Park parking lot. Would love to see one of those at the 75th anniversary next year!
  13. As you can see, it can be done on a 1600 that originally came with a clock. Notice the little black knob in the center of the tachometer glass? I found the tachometer in a 2002 that my friend was parting out way back in the mid 80's and I much prefer the tach to the clock. If i am not mistaken, i didn't have to wire it up, it was plug and play!
  14. ?oh my, I'm glad I didnt just finish my dinner... maybe 3 or 4 more bott.. Oops...glasses of bourbon will make it blurry enough to not make me sick...
  15. Nice! Must be a great feeling to have it back with you after all these years! Congrats and good luck with the restoration!
  16. Ha ha ha! This is what I use to dip my pretzels in (food grade, of course) before baking them!
  17. My wife found that on etsy along with a nice one for her 633csi.
  18. My wife found this original brochure for the 1600 a few years back. It's in great condition and is pretty interesting (at least for us 1600 aficionados!)
  19. Looks very nice Steve! Thanks for all you do!
  20. Thanks Les, that's why you and Steve both have crowns and I only have a star!
  21. Wow, thanks for the info Steve! I must have missed it the first time around.
