  1. OOOPS! Sorry I posted this twice, but I suffer from CRS!
  2. My dad finally found this photo for me. The first post-WWII road race in the U.S. in September of 1948. BMW 328 on 4th St., just after coming through Milliken's Corner at the bottom of the long downhill and setting up to turn right down Franklin St. towards the Start/Finish line. It was the winning car at the 1940 Mille Miglia and was painted green for the 1948 WGGP, driven by Paul Ceresole of Concord, Mass. and did not finish the race (according to my dad).
  3. It was fun to watch and that is one thing I always forget about when people are bidding. It was fun to live vicariously through you when you were bidding! Nice try & good luck on the next one!
  4. Radio, I was watching and hoping that someone would come up with a big price jump to scare others off. But nice try though!
  5. I think the buyer got a pretty good deal. If I had the $ to be bidding that high, I certainly would have gone higher. Just my opinion.
  6. Anders, that is exactly how I feel about my 1600. That was the first car I ever bought. It has been rebuilt twice and most of the sheet metal from the bottom to about halfway up the car has been replaced. After 36 years of ownership, it is still the vehicle that I value most, and always will for the same reasons you have expressed. There is not much left on it that is original, that's I why I feel your old 1600 is so special, and in my opinion, worth every bit as much as a tii. Looking through those pictures takes me back to when I was 18 when I bought the 1600 and how original and unmolested the car was (other than the rust) and all of the changes that were made to it over the years. It will be very interesting to see the action on it tomorrow at the end of the auction.
  7. Anders, I totally agree with your assessment of BAT, used to watch it all the time but has seemed to have lost some its charm over the past year or so, at least in my opinion. Your 1600 is the standard that the rest of us hope to reach!
  8. I think so! But I am a 1600 fan/owner myself & feel they are as collectible as 2002's. Even more so because there were far fewer made and imported to the US. I would really like to know how many are actually left and still on the road. It will be very interesting to see where this ends up and I will be watching with great interest. Thanks for posting. I don't watch BAT that often and would not have seen it come up.
  9. Always nice to see the 1600 get some attention! Thanks for posting!
  10. How about a Calzone? No change accepted! Or maybe a ricotta garlic pie? Sorry, had to resurrect this thread again!
  11. Yes they do, my kids and wife 20+ years ago... Then my son 20 years later... VID_20170429_144804548.mp4 VID_20170429_144804548.mp4
  12. That's Rockford with Richie Brockleman, who drove an old, beat up 65 Mustang. In one of the episodes, Rockford drives a '70's Can-Am car. Also one of my favorite shows.
  13. That is great! (But you're driving on the wrong side of the road!)
  14. I could have used this as well! I was just using the Pinto because it was so ugly. Just as bad as this Vega wagon with the simulated wood grain paneling the the vinyl seats that would burn your skin off in the summertime.
  15. "I think there are very few seventies cars that aren't loved to be seen on the roads in 2020" Are you sure about that?
  16. The golden retriever (Lola) in... the golden retriever(1600)! Always get smiles and thumbs up...for both of them! And yes, whenever someone approaches me about the 1600, they always say they had one or knew someone who did. I even had a guy follow me for about 15 miles and when I stopped for gas, he pulled in behind be because he wanted to take pictures of it to prove to his buddies he actually saw a 1600!
  17. This car started out as a 1600ti and was raced by Autosport by Jiri from vestal NY. I believe it raced in the under 2 liter category in Trans Am and later in life in SCCA GT classes. I do also believe it used a 2 liter motor during its life. Someone had it at the vintage races at the Glen in 2017 (I think). Someone told me whoever had just bought it was going to try and restore it. Have not seen it or heard about it since then.
  18. https://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/pts/d/phoenix-1974-bmw-2002-plus-lots-of/7260323024.html My son live in NE Arizona so I peruse CL every now and again looking for parts he may need for his e36 M3 track car. Stumbled across this and thought someone in the area may be interested. Shell looks pretty shot but might be worth it for the parts?
  19. Congratulations Mike, hopefully we can see you and Ludwig sometime next year when he turns 50!
  20. I thought I was alone with this disorder! I wonder how many of us are actually out there!
  21. Sorry, I couldn't resist! My son took this on his move from New York to Arizona. On the highway somewhere in Missouri. Uranus Fudge Factory, what more could you ask for from Uranus: Fudge AND a gun range! All in one place!
  22. Bid to $1,957,507...Reserve Not Met...Wow!
  23. This is what they look like. Not great but worked for me for 20+ years.
  24. I have a set of 13x5, proper offset if you are looking for some. They would need to be sandblasted and painted as they are a little rough. I was getting ready to take them to the scrap yard, but if anyone is interested, they are yours, no charge. Would much rather see them used than melted down!
