    kbmb02 ...years ago I had the same problem in changing out the giubo myself, being a carpenter and not a mechanic I did what was easier all the bolts facing one direction, After a drink from the local 2002 fountain of knowledge Terry Sayther he pointed out that a the giubo flexs under load and that the rubber can work/rub against the nut and loosen it over time...I'm still not a mechanic but I have friends that are...

    one thing to remember is the bolts have to be installed facing in the right direction with the head of the bolt on the metal sleeve that is embedded in the rubber ( as shown in the picture above) if the bolt is reversed with the nut in that location it will work loose...Barney

    fastricky.... I used the standard bracket with the two ears that stick out the side, cut those off and used it with my bumper mounted (euro lights)...

    yes Jim I'm very happy with the car, I've put over three thousand miles on it since purchase... I've been sorting out some of the finer details, finished up the install of new seats and a five speed a couple of months ago...in January I'm going to start disassembly to repaint it Inka...I picked another project car for a 2019 project after I retire...

    41 years ago at 20 years old when I purchased my 74 2002 and drove it from Austin to my dads house in Galveston to show it off...he came out of the house walked around my little car and ask me how much I had paid for it...when I told him he looked me like I was crazy and said I had no respect for money...in some ways these two bidders have the same affliction...we all have our own taste in how we like our 2002s I've seen 2002s that I liked twice as much sell for half as much...in Dec. my oldest son Kane is moving back to Austin and taking possession of that same 74 I think I kept it so long just to show my dad that it was worth the investment/price...Barney

    the 73 front brackets (2.5 mph impact bumpers) have a Y shape mounts those change to the earlier L shaped brackets that can slide farther back into body and the rear loop shaped brackets change out for the L shaped brackets that allow the rear bumper to be about a 1/2" from body...there should only be two holes behind the rear tires that are exposed after this is done...

    the seats look great, the car looks great... the only critique I would have is the back seat needs to be redone with a pattern that matches the front...the fronts have a horizontal pattern and the rear have a vertical...

    Dread...more than anything else I dread working on the heater box...there is really no easy way to get in to access it when you are a big guy like me...I now pull the seat...

    back in the office today, what a great time/event....thanks to Bo & Barb and all the folks that had a part in making it happen...Victoria and I rolled up 1945 miles on our trip from Austin / Eureka Springs / Memphis / Austin...I'm sure it's been over 20 years since we have put that kind of mileage on the 2002 in one trip...only lost one wiper ( on for over four hours straight ) and a E clip on the shifter in Hot Springs on the trip to Eureka Springs ( repaired in five minutes with the use of a lift at a small shop )....the rest of the trip was trouble free....already looking forward to next year. Eureka Springs is such a cool little town...
