Agree the Market does impact car prices and the Market has been carp so far this year.
I think Market impact, Covid fatigue and lack of confidence in the Country direction all play a part.
Also agree with how many people want a 50k or 75k 2002 ? Maybe were at that point don't know.
I bought mine to drive and enjoy and plan on keeping forever.
BAT is mostly entertainment for me.

My paper gaskets are on dry is this the norm ?

I like the guy eating the sandwich at the very beginning. Cars going other way.
No one had a hemet on I don't think.
Hold my beer.

My DCOE 40's run just the paper gaskets. The car came that way and I don't know any better.
Webers have alway ran pretty good with very few problems for a couple of years.

Never seen anyone use the soft mounts in person. They do look problematic to me though.
I use just the paper gaskets on my 40 DCOE and know nothing about the Bakelite spacers.
They look interesting to me. Anyone use them and where does one find them at.

Congrats on B-day and congrats on owning it for so long.

I finished changing my tie rods and center link on my 73. Getting that center link out was NOOOOT easy! Torch, rotary hammer, various attempts with Autozone pullers... none were up to the task. If I was a character in Dante's Inferno, my hellish and personalized punishment would be taking off tie rod centers off of 2002s for all eternity. I found a puller tool on Amazon that finally worked for me. After the spring thaw I'll go for the alignment. I did my best to measure old vs new tie rod end threading, but I still think the short trip to the shop will be "interesting", I'm a little afraid of it to be honest.
Oh, yeah I also got some shiny new lug nuts and center caps, so those went on the front as the car was jacked up.
If you'r concerned about being off a bunch you can do a string alignment on it. Their really easy to do and pretty accurate.

Might try a WTB ad in the classifieds just to see if you can find a solid used one.
Would try to repair but agree that one side looks borderline in pic.

Was watching some youtube stuff couple days back. Someone was driving a 2002 for the first time and just fell in love with it.
Commented the car was so simple yet so brilliant , you get road noise but not to much.
I thought yeah he gets it alright. The cars are so simple but such a joy to drive.

Off topic, yeah not like threads have wandered off before. Also he is the OP of this thread.
Do we need another Ireland Eng. fcked up again thread. They seem to be pretty good at that lately.
Heck I bitched just about a total clusterfck order that they couldn't put together.
That said if they sold me a crap engine I would do a separate thread on it.
They make it hard to support their business .

Do you still have the resonator ? I thought about Ansa for my 02. Any guess what the O.D. is.
Who did you get it from if you don't mind.

Love the Teflon Tape idea.

I've replaced these parts and there is a clear grommet. The grommet held things in place to install the knob.
It's pretty straight forward install , just need a soft touch and a little patience.
All the parts are still available .

FCPEuro carries a couple. I can't speak for the quality of the part but they do offer a lifetime warranty .

Looks to be a nice car. The way some of the rust is painted over is concerning.

The headlight cover of plexiglas appears to cover the whole grill ?
I wouldn't think that's a good thing .
