  1. Just redid my engine to chassis main negative ground. I have a trunk mount  battery.

Fired it up to take it for a test drive, the engine idled better when cold and my gas gauge went from less than a quarter tank to a half with a very solid needle.   Could be wishful thinking but felt like it ran better.I can't believe how well everything worked with all my average at best grounds.  I need to go through and check every ground. Thanks to this thread. ?

This was the old ground mounting point.

  2. I had the privilege to know Tom Hattem back in the 80's and 90's.  I worked with Tom on a small Sports Car team for five years or so and had the honor to see him get married. He was a great person, smart and a helluva mechanic and a genuine good guy.

    RIP

You will NOT be disappointed ... the whole 'thai post' tracking thing is a bit whacky ... but just trust in it ...

mine are amazing (two post up!) ... if you need drawings for low-profile adapters ... LMK ... i have them ...

Thanks, I might have to take you up on the offer.  Pretty  excited, he said he was going to stop making them after  the first of the year.

  4. From just those few pictures appears to be quite a bit of rust. The paint job could be a little suspect also with the runs and pealing.

I think its cool and very nice that your trying to help someone out, but I bet its not worth nowhere near what the  owner thinks.

Hopefully it wont be an exercise in frustration.  Good luck with it.

  5. My Kirkland December 2013 battery is getting tired as of late. Debating to make my own rear shock tower brace and battery tray.

My set up takes up way to much trunk space I think.   I do like the idea of under the rear seat. I have speakers there now, but that could change.  Oh these rabbit holes.

I upgraded to an electronic flasher, a while back. I was running led bulbs on the rear, and everything worked fine, now with the new led bluntech kits, the rear signals only work when the flash unit touches a magnet, I tried a new flasher and the same results.

That is truly strange. Do the hazard flashers work correctly ?

You may want to think about whether the odor is coming from exhaust fumes, which after entering the trunk smell very similar to gas fumes. Check your trunk (boot) gasket for integrity.

For sure its fuel I can go to the garage in the morning and pop the trunk and smell it. Thanks though

If you still have the cloth covered hose connecting the tank's outlet pipe to the plastic fuel line, remove, throw in neighbor's pool (don't lose the plastic ferrule on the tank nipple) and replace with some US style rubber fuel hose.  That now 40+ year old cloth covered hose cracks under the cloth, and will seep gas--enough to smell but not enough to see.

First thing I replaced,  all the fuel lines have been updated. Thanks Mike

I thought about a smoke test, with a really really long hose to check it with. ?

It's not leaking any fuel but smells bad enough that you don't want to put luggage or anything nice in the trunk.
