  1. Has anyone (besides me) hassled a seller for taking pictures of their black car with a black interior on a moonless night? They get so ANGRY when you point out the stupidity of taking the pictures at night. hehehe.
  2. It does sound like the whiners are winning here. I grew up near airbases, the new interstates that were being built, new housing developments being constructed, etc. I was proud of those planes and helicopters; I was not worried about the noise. The not-quite-finished interstates led to incredible drag races that could be heard for miles. Definitely OK w/me! Mustangs, Camaros, Vettes, Chargers, GTO's -- bring it on... The housing developments were noisy, but what a cool playground for a 10-year-old kid. Loved it! My mom still gets upset hearing how my friends and I played in/around the houses under construction. I remember things being noisy as I grew up. Usually it meant that things were getting accomplished. The whiners need to construct a gated community for themselves and zip it.
  3. Agree with Jason -- missed opportunities to have fun with your 2002.... RGB: you know, Jason, BJ, Todd, ME, Charlie, Jake, Scott, Karl, Ben, Stacey, John, etc. , etc.
  4. It just BEGS to be LOWERED. That E21 is up on stilts! Nice color. I have never seen one with a Madeira paintjob. GLWS!
  5. I am shopping for my wife's next dd. We had borrowed an E39 when we visited her aunt in Carmel, Calif. So, now she likes them very much. Strong preference for these colors: blue, gray, green Do not want the Sport Package or a 5-speed transmission. Flexible on mileage and price, but let's keep it below 150K miles.
  6. When you use the FAQ search function, type in: BMW 2002 VIN. There you will see a table of VIN's and production dates, etc.
  7. Or perhaps at Mecklenburg Gardens near the University of Cincinnati? Both offer up German food... or maybe we could meet up at the Amber Rose restaurant in Dayton....? We need another excuse for a gtg.
  8. Collinster: I was not crazy for the "CARS Act" ('Consumer Assistance to Recycle & Save Act') of 2009 either. It originally passed in the House 298 to 119 and was later passed by the Senate. (bipartisan) The original plan allocated $1 billion in total, with the program ending when the funds ran out. An extra $2 billion was allocated with the support/encouragement of the Obama administration. The idea did not originate with the President, but he was definitely a backer of the plan. I doubt that it did much good. Attrition does the job over time with the vast majority of vehicles. (except 2002's, cool Alfas, Shelby Cobras, etc.)
  9. Dtepe: if you are looking for a stock '74 - '76 steering wheel, I have one. It is in very good condition. How about $40 + shipping?
  10. There must be a way to get the CODE from Blaupunkt... Anyone? I will not be able to attend Vintage in 2013, due to a wedding. I could have a local friend bring it back to me from Vintage.
  11. Great story, guys! Hey, I wonder if that radio is available? Does it work? Do you think it is stereo or mono? I might want it if you'd part with it.... Thanks.
  12. Price: HIGH! ($6000!!) Logic: POOR. Car does start. (hasn't been started since 1995) Bill Clinton was in the White House in '95. My college student son was 4 y.o. the last time this gem was started?? Meth is hard on the brain cells, I'd say....
  13. I can't make it, but I sure enjoyed the RGB Fall Ridge Runner drive and gtg last weekend! I'd like to do both events.
  14. I met Mrs. Booher. He would not come out & talk to me. Jason tried to make a deal with him for his stash of '02 parts -- crazy price/crazy old man. It is Booher. I am not going to mess with him.
  15. Jason: that sounds like Mr. Booher. Remember I tipped you off that he had an Atlantik squaretail and a garage full of parts with a roundie buried somewhere under the debris.... I recall that it was 'no deal' when you offered to buy some of his stash. Mr. Booher lives just off of Wilmington Pike; he seems like an odd one to me.
  16. Dave: It's looking like 10 to 12 so far. I just heard from Tom up in Tipp City. We will rendezvous near Dayton and head down together tomorrow. He's done a lot of work on his '02's suspension. Mine can boast of a new water pump; also got rid of an oil leak earlier this year. (which had me burning oil again - arrggh) See you very soon!
  17. I don't know much about such boats, but Timmer: have you ever gone to Vintage at Saratoga? I am thinking of going to it in 2013. I'd probably be driving right past you en route.
  18. Over-the-Rhine? Price Hill? I can't tell where that is for sure. Were these cars forgotten? Did the owner die? More details! I can't wait to see them, btw.
  19. Brent: I'd like to nab it. Email me: j DOT denker AT sbcglobal DOT net Do you prefer PayPal? Thanks!!
  20. Were you speaking to me, Jason?? You weren't keen on the bus wheel on mine, were you?
  21. Sorry, Ray. I have had some very close calls, the most recent being last Sunday on the way to the Dayton Concours d'Elegance. I still have damage to my hood from a Suburban driver who decided that, no, he didn't want to pull onto the main road after all, and backed into me without looking. 2002's are tough, not too much damage actually. Good luck!
  22. George Thielen told me that it belong's to Adam Wilcutt's wife, Melissa. When I was in the Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop that Adam runs, he did mention that, but I must have lost track of this factoid. I had never seen it out and about before, that's for sure.
