  1. Gordon is right. Also, check out the seller over the phone. Find out if anyone will vouch for his/her integrity. You will need lots of photos before you go to all that trouble for an '02 that could be a mess. I have done pretty well buying used cars -- if I am not comfortable with the seller in any way, I don't buy the car. If you feel like you're being pressured, b.s.'d, buttered-up, whatever, get out! If it's too good to be true, well you know the rest.
  2. Larry: Congrats on selling your excellent 320i. I did not realize you'd found it a new home. I hope the new owner is a bimmer-nut.
  3. Veronica (my 16 y.o.) has a friend who received a 1987 Porsche 944 S as her starter car. Her pal doesn't have her license yet. I asked her: "is it stick or auto?" She didn't know. In fact, she knew very little about the car. It looks badass in black paint, VGC too. well, well, well. "when I was a kid, we had it tough....." (the beginning of a Monty Python routine)
  4. This ad is insulting. "Serious inquiries"...umm...hmmm. Every idiot on Craigslist says that, don't they? It's a knock-out there and it's a knock out here. Try a friendlier tone without the bull-hockey; that is my 02 cents, pal.
  5. I would like to order a set please! j DOT denker AT sbcglobal DOT net THX.
  6. Hi Cliff: We were in Carmel recently during the car-crazy week leading into the Pebble Beach Concours. I probably bumped into you at one of the events! Good luck with that beautiful survivor you nabbed. I'll have to meet up with you next time we are in Calif. (we were staying near 3rd & Torres in Carmel, btw....)
  7. A dark colored, big-bumpered '02 near Kings Island. To be more precise, it was where I-71 & Western Row Rd. meet near KI. It was today (8-31) early in the afternoon. Anyone here? I waved at you from my E30.
  8. Most E30's I've seen have defunct a/c. Mine is working again, but it cost a few $. An E30 would be great for your daughter, even w/out the airbags - they're built like tanks.
  9. I am reminded of the Dylan song: "It's All Over Now Baby Blue." But, it's not all over, is it? Your elder son & his '02 will be happy & you can still see them. Now, repeat the '02 cycle with your younger son. The circle of life.....
  10. Tell Friedrich that Dieter welcomes him to Ohio & to the cult of Sahara '02's!
  11. #10 Currently own. ('02) #26 I owned an '81 Rabbit S from early '83 until late '89. #46 My son has a beater '93 Camry which used to be my mother's. #77 We bought an '01 Taurus wagon new. It was destroyed in a wreck last summer. (had 175K mi. at the time) I bought Mary another '01 Taurus wagon off of CL. She is very happy with it!
  12. Craig (nesky45): I sent you a text today. Not sure if you got it. Great to meet you & Kathy at the Legends of the Autobahn last Fri. I skipped the local BMWCCA meeting last night. Feared that it would have been a letdown after the auto overload last week.
  13. Say 'hi' to Joseph for me! I am leary of buying from classic car shops. I suspect shortcuts & Frankenbimmer results. Take an expert or 2 with you to check it out. They will want top dollar, so be ready for that.
  14. Name a few cities so that they can meet up with you. You will have a very good time in Calif. Enjoy! I just got back from Calif. We flew into San Jose, stayed in Aptos for 2 nights & then we spent 6 nights in Carmel. I met lots of west coast '02 owners/FAQ'ers as I sampled the many car events leading into the Pebble Beach Concours.
  15. Great pictures, MOJOJOY. I just got back to Ohio a couple hours ago. I saw all those sights and more thanks to Joseph letting me tag along. That Inka touring racer is super-fine. BTW: it was good to meet you guys.
  16. Hi George. I wanted you to know that I thought of you. Today at the Legends of the Autobahn event, I was talking about my home being a weigh-station for '02'ers passing through Ohio. (& the good times!) Good luck with your event. (posted from Carmel)
  17. Tom: I will have my black Maximillian hat on & probably my "True Friends of Alex Von Falkenhausen" shirt. (dark blue) Eager to meet you and as many vintage bimmer types as possible. Too many exotics to count today! They started at Monterey, then drove to Big Sur, came back to Carmel, & then they went to Pebble Beach. Simply amazing what I have been seeing here. I had a nice picnic along the shore with my family and Mary's aunt at Point Lobos State Park today. Life is good.
  18. Hope to meet you HBChris and Ben. Looking forward to more auto-craziness. I am going to walk down to Carmel (Ocean Drive area) to see the cars pass by. BTW: I am staying just off of 3rd. (a few blocks up from Bruno's Mkt.) Ben: we'd stopped at the Carmel library yesterday. I parked our borrowed 2000 BMW 528i near that M-B Gullwing. Parking was scarce at the time. I liked the orange cones around the 300SL!! Eager to meet up with you Steve & Joseph....
  19. Today we went to Salinas to see the Steinbeck Museum. Saw lots of Porsches & also saw an Alfa Guilieta - very nice. In Carmel today, I saw another Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, this time in black. (parked on the street, no less)
  20. Totally agree with the KUDOS. Steve, I saw your doppelganger yesterday at the car show here in Carmel. Do you have a long-haired brother out here!?
  21. WOW! That was fun! Ferraris, Jags, Porsches, Lambos, Isettas, Mercedes, Alfas, and so on.... What a great time yestserday. I saw Wayne Carini of "Chasing Classic Cars" taping a segment. I briefly met Carl Nelson. I talked to many owners and was mistaken for an owner a number of times! I was giving the judges my 'wisdom' on the 2 Isettas on display... (I'm not the biggest expert, but enthusiastic) Wow again! I am planning on heading to the Legends of the Autobahn show on Friday and also the Concours d'LeMons on Saturday. I hope to meet up with the following FAQ'ers this week: Steve Padrick, Steve Kupper, and Michael Dubois. FAQ'ers are WUNDEBAR. Right? BTW: Spotted an Anthracite gray squaretail in Carmel yesterday, possibly sporting Alpina wheels. Anybody here own it?
  22. You aren't York, are you? If so, "here we go again!"
  23. -- if you come out of the grocery store & find a young guy hanging out the window of his gf's car, taking pictures of your '02 as they creep past. -- if you get effusive compliments from a man driving a M-B AMG very close to yours so that he can get a better look at your '02.
