  1. I picked up a set of Mahle 13 inch late-style alloy wheels. (soupdish) A certain friend and fellow '02'er helped me out! YAY. I am not sure if I need special lugnuts for the Mahles. Will standard lugnuts from the 13 inch steelies work on them? TIA.
  2. Interesting, but it looks like it would have ended up in the lemons category. --- It would have become a villain car in Cars 2.
  3. Maybe next MidAmerica we can watch the movie and name off car models Great idea; I'll see you next April....
  4. In the film, there are 2 definite '02's, excluding the Pope. There's one Sahara and one Schwarz; both are roundies. At least, I think so. Darn, I'll have to go see it again, right guys??
  5. I couldn't help but think: "who's doing who a favor here?" If you bought that '02, not running, with bad paint, and MANY other issues not yet discovered, YOU would be doing the seller a HUGE favor. $2000 (or more) is crazy money for a large paper weight. (or yard ornament?) I am not sure where you are, but that is NOT the best one you will turn up in your search. Happy Hunting to you!
  6. That's too bad. My dad once had a SAAB 900S turbo 4-door. Way ahead of its time in the early 80's. I was happy to drive it when I visited my parents, then living in Belgium. He also had a '79 Porsche 911 then. I preferred the SAAB.
  7. Acccck! He'll reject it! Not Chamonix w/Blue interior. Must have a/c! FAIL! OMG......
  8. Did they actually net $11,000 or is this a scam of a sale? I am not convinced that it's worth anywhere near that much.
  9. I don't know of this car/owner. Hmmm. They definitely spent some $$ on it. With all the local BMWCCA events I've gone to, you'd think I'd have met the owner. Perhaps they have little or nothing to do with the local 'CCA.
  10. The US version E21 really suffered in the looks dept. due to the massive bumpers. That looks soooo nice with Euro bumpers! Of course, who am I to speak, with diving boards on my '02?? Oh well!
  11. york: thanks for the laughs, ha ha Maybe we'll catch what your line of thinking is now.... or maybe not! eurotrash (Jason) is a very cool dude. Listen to him, he'll have some great ideas for you! Good luck w/your search.
  12. My '02 used to "live" in your area before moving to Athens, AL and then northward to Ohio with me. Thanks to your general lack of snow & salt, the body stayed intact over the decades!
  13. Sorry. Follow your dream, York. Get the one YOU want. BTW: Larry, the owner of the above-mentioned 320i, is on the FAQ. (Schwarz75 is his handle) He has had this E21 listed in the Roundel classifieds also. (if anyone else wants a very sorted-out 320i... )
  14. Looks like it needs a master welder to rescue it. Any takers??
  15. Also: not being snarky, but you could save yourself a lot of trouble. Just contact Larry Wilson in the Indianapolis area and buy his Chamonix 320i. It is excellent. I drove/rode with him to & from Mid America '02 Fest last April in his E21. Only one caveat: he removed the a/c, but I believe that he has the a/c parts tucked away. Honest, fair, reliable -- and he did most of his own wrenching on this car and on his other BMW's. He is much more technically oriented than me; he can fully explain why this is such a fine example of the 320i.
  16. That tii is really going places. ( in separate boxes all across the nation )
  17. No. I have found a glovebox through R3Vlimited site. Thanks.
  18. For my '87 325e. Lemme know if you have a decent one. Thanks!!
  19. Sorry Supermax, but with just one post, we don't even know you. You will need to supply a lot more info. starting with a price. You will have to entice the potential buyer quite a bit more, in other words. Trying to help you out here.
  20. You're right, Jim! I was reading it and thinking: "what an issue!" They should all be that great. The story on Lothar's 328 was fascinating. He must have hundreds of excellent stories to tell. I'd love to see his bimmer collection one day.
  21. Fitting analogies. AND the enablers will give you a beer and free advice while tire-kicking on the parking lot at Vintage or Mid-America '02 Fest! They will even dig up the spare part you desperately need to get going again! Project creep - definitely. Budget creep - definitely.
  22. You're getting good advice! Like Mike, I have an E30 as an everyday driver. Most '02's you uncover in Ohio will be one baby step away from the shredder. I found mine in N. Alabama. (yeah, the shocks & brakes were toast, but I was a nooob) You can bolt on new parts, but RUST is quite costly and oft-times fatal to '02's. Dieter was not rusty, so he came north to play with his Ohio/MW pals. Happier times now that he has a devoted owner willing to INVEST in him. The one you are considering: no real love given to it since sometime in 1985 or was it '86??? RUN!!
  23. It may seem a poor comparison, but when I bought my '02, the p.o. shipped it personally, driving his F350 w/flatbed trailer. (from Athens, AL to Dayton, OH) $400. "Deal!" I said to him. No damages, right to my driveway as he'd promised.
  24. $9500 sounds like a lot. Not being negative -- I love this one -- GLWS of the car! It would take a lot of $$ to make my E30 tip-top. Loving mine in its imperfect state though.... It handled very well on Sunday's (Mike Pugh-led) drive to Floyd, VA. Mike teased me for being '02-less that day. Jealous guy methinks!
