  1. Lucky guy; you're in the right place to find a very well-preserved roundie! In the Midwest, we have to travel far and wide to find one that isn't eaten up with rust. (Athens, AL is where mine previously 'lived') Good luck w/your search.
  2. Mike Self and I will be heading out of Dayton on Thurs. morning. We plan to go see the Pea Ridge Civil War battle site on our way. We're not sure of our ETA in Eureka Springs. We'll be in my '02 together - it'll be very handy to have an expert in the copilot's seat. I promise to keep Dieter on the roadways this time. (see 'Spring time Madness' thread....)
  3. Tanner: I did not mean to be harsh w/you -- GLWS. You are a good sport to take all this advice w/out getting testy!
  4. The Inka touring will be treated extra special by its new owner, Mr. W. I'll go visit it for you, OK?
  5. Why can so few people post a decent CL ad? Typical: they list 25 things wrong with it and then post it for a mid to top end KBB price! Huh?? Or this picture is not the actual car, but one that's just like it. Really?? Or it's a great car, I just don't have the time to fix it. Busy enough to diligently neglect your car over so many months, that is. How about the slick hicks who say that their beater BMW sports a V6?? They get wood mentioning the fictional V6.... Rant over (for now).
  6. FYI: Siennabraun is one of the 'unloved' colors used on squaretail '02's. You could get a premium for Inka, Colorado, or Taiga perhaps. Any shock tower rust is a huge negative. ($$ repairs) Burning through coolant -- this sounds very bad to me. ($$$) You must disclose this defect. The e-brake needs to be fixed, in fact, the brakes, shocks, bushings, tie rod ends, etc. all need to be in very good condition to keep this from being a death-ride. Trashed out seats are a major turn-off. Buy some decent used ones, install them and improve your odds of selling this '02. Better yet, fix the coolant problem NOW. Cheap '02's are cheap for a reason: they need loads of $ put into them. Mine was semi-cheap back in 2003, but I have spent a lot since that time to get it nearly the way that I want it. I wouldn't profit any by selling it now, but it is a much better car than it was back then, that's for certain.
  7. No, I had no time to clean off the mud! I had to take Veronica to the Father-Daughter Dance at the High School last night. Tight schedule and all. The car got compliments last night from a M-B afficianado. I don't think that the mud showed up very well in the darkness and rain of last night! I won't be following Jason so closely in the future. I need to be further back in the pack. His navigator, Bryce Gipson, saw the very sharp left turn on the GPS device and called it out to Jason, just in time. (for them)
  8. What can I say?? I missed the very sharp left turn just after the crest of the hill. Damage report: scratch to the hood and the hood front trim, lots of mud, lots of embarassment, lots of laughs. Guys -- definitely keep this on the QT, OK? Under the radar, black ops, top secret. (Mary never looks at the FAQ, thankfully)
  9. I don't have your email. (mine is j DOT denker AT sbcglobal DOT net)
  10. That's too bad for you, but great for the new owner. Is he by any chance a big-time collector of vintage street & racing BMW's? I won't name him but I think I might know who.....
  11. WOW. Freeeekin' impressive! Congrats to Jason, John B., Scott, BLUNT, IE, Hohman Plating.... & my apologies if I have left anyone out....
  12. It was certainly loud when I drove it the one time. Kind of a greasy fahrt! Wish I could have dropped by a few days ago. Our time was limited. We went to N.O. to eat too much and to shop too much. No breakdowns on the return home. (yay)
  13. I like this one, it's an exact clone of my dad's '72 Golf. I learned to drive using his nearly-new '02. No restoration was needed back then. He said his was totalled pretty quickly by the next owner...
  14. I don't think I can go wrong with the $2500 '87 325e coupe I picked up in October. A friend of mine recently bought an '84 528e (5-speed) for $2800. A great deal and a very nice looking car too. (Mine lived most of its life in Calif. and my buddy's E28 is from GA. And remember, as Neil says: "Rust never sleeps.")
  15. I've got one too, if you need it.
  16. I'd give it up free, give you a beer, and help you get it on the trailer. "Bless you!" is what you'd hear out of me as you pulled away with this gem.
  17. You are correct, Rob! You just made Mike Self's day!! He is in Florida now, avoiding the cold, sleet, and rain of Ohio. When I drove him to the airport Thurs. am, it was his first '02 ride/drive since early December. I drive mine when the salt has been washed away. (and it HAS with all the rain we've had lately) I didn't get to use it much last year due to a number of things, but this year it is going places!
  18. I've been driving mine every day since the salt got washed away by the rain. If you come to Kettering you will see me out & about. Hoping to bump into you when we are both 02'ing.
  19. Congrats! That '02 of yours is looking super. You have done an amazing job. We are going to be down there soon visiting my brother in Baton Rouge. (end of March) Maybe I can take a peek at it when we head to N.O.
  20. Best idea of all: PPI by an '02 professional (if the car is a shiny turd, that will become evident very quickly) (BTW: if this '02 is at Select Classics --- RUN!!!!!) -- THAT'S A RELIEF, KNOWING IT'S NOT FROM SELECT CLASSICS!!
  21. Sorry about that -- there will be other '02's. You're meant to find one that's even better. At least that's how I'd look at it. Good luck.
  22. Hmmm, my thoughts as well; that driver's seat looks scary. You could get it repaired/restuffed/reupholstered OR you could spring for some nice E21 Recaros. Your A$$ will be hurting in that seat, trust me! Re. brake light on: probably low on brake fluid
