  1. My '02 used to "live" in your area before moving to Athens, AL and then northward to Ohio with me. Thanks to your general lack of snow & salt, the body stayed intact over the decades!
  2. Sorry. Follow your dream, York. Get the one YOU want. BTW: Larry, the owner of the above-mentioned 320i, is on the FAQ. (Schwarz75 is his handle) He has had this E21 listed in the Roundel classifieds also. (if anyone else wants a very sorted-out 320i... )
  3. Looks like it needs a master welder to rescue it. Any takers??
  4. Also: not being snarky, but you could save yourself a lot of trouble. Just contact Larry Wilson in the Indianapolis area and buy his Chamonix 320i. It is excellent. I drove/rode with him to & from Mid America '02 Fest last April in his E21. Only one caveat: he removed the a/c, but I believe that he has the a/c parts tucked away. Honest, fair, reliable -- and he did most of his own wrenching on this car and on his other BMW's. He is much more technically oriented than me; he can fully explain why this is such a fine example of the 320i.
  5. That tii is really going places. ( in separate boxes all across the nation )
  6. No. I have found a glovebox through R3Vlimited site. Thanks.
  7. For my '87 325e. Lemme know if you have a decent one. Thanks!!
  8. Sorry Supermax, but with just one post, we don't even know you. You will need to supply a lot more info. starting with a price. You will have to entice the potential buyer quite a bit more, in other words. Trying to help you out here.
  9. You're right, Jim! I was reading it and thinking: "what an issue!" They should all be that great. The story on Lothar's 328 was fascinating. He must have hundreds of excellent stories to tell. I'd love to see his bimmer collection one day.
  10. Fitting analogies. AND the enablers will give you a beer and free advice while tire-kicking on the parking lot at Vintage or Mid-America '02 Fest! They will even dig up the spare part you desperately need to get going again! Project creep - definitely. Budget creep - definitely.
  11. You're getting good advice! Like Mike, I have an E30 as an everyday driver. Most '02's you uncover in Ohio will be one baby step away from the shredder. I found mine in N. Alabama. (yeah, the shocks & brakes were toast, but I was a nooob) You can bolt on new parts, but RUST is quite costly and oft-times fatal to '02's. Dieter was not rusty, so he came north to play with his Ohio/MW pals. Happier times now that he has a devoted owner willing to INVEST in him. The one you are considering: no real love given to it since sometime in 1985 or was it '86??? RUN!!
  12. It may seem a poor comparison, but when I bought my '02, the p.o. shipped it personally, driving his F350 w/flatbed trailer. (from Athens, AL to Dayton, OH) $400. "Deal!" I said to him. No damages, right to my driveway as he'd promised.
  13. $9500 sounds like a lot. Not being negative -- I love this one -- GLWS of the car! It would take a lot of $$ to make my E30 tip-top. Loving mine in its imperfect state though.... It handled very well on Sunday's (Mike Pugh-led) drive to Floyd, VA. Mike teased me for being '02-less that day. Jealous guy methinks!
  14. Paging Ben Younce, Sam Adams, Karl Hendrickson, & Meg Vanderliest -- who own early 1600-2's..... They will know the unique features of the early ones. I've driven Karl's and it is great fun - they are definitely lighter than my '75 2002.
  15. I got to meet Klaus on Friday night when we went to dinner at Willow's Bistro. I'm an admirer of his work in Bimmer magazine.
  16. I noticed the Euro 320i 4-door and pointed it out to Mike Self. I don't have his uncanny knowledge of 2002's, but I can be helpful at times!
  17. Hey, Paul. Don't forget the man-purses we got at the registration table on Friday! We'll have fun with those.
  18. Oh! That's a relief. You can't get rid of the Riviera car. Good luck!
  19. Thanks for the pictures, Bill. I found myself in 3 of them -- wow. Thanks to Scott, Patty, THE02GROUP, the sponsors, the host hotel, etc., etc. Thanks to our SUPER-HYPER server on Sat. night at the Foothills Brewery, you were unforgettable! Great to see my bimmer friends and to make a bunch of new ones. I was so pleased that Mary came with me. There were plenty of folks saying: "where's Alec?". He is at Ohio Univ. and he's in LOVE. Maybe one day my bimmer buddy will make another gtg. A great time was had by all. Don and Wayne, you two were cracking me up. Thanks for the lively conversations all weekend! My RGB friends: jeeez, I rarely had any idea where you were. I can see that y'all had fun. No worries. Let's all go to Vintage again, eh???
  20. Good to meet you Paul. The F-Bomb was a major attraction. Mike Self told me I did not meet you and that I was mistaken. I said, "no, you and I were talking to him right next to his car...." The Self-Meister ----- seldom wrong! Now he believes me.
  21. Are you replacing the $700 Riviera cross-country McGuyvered wonder??? Hmmmm. Tell us more. Wish you were at Vintage. You've gotta do it.
  22. Also see: Rivertown Gearbusters on Facebook. Loads of Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus, N. KY, Akron, Indianapolis (& more) owners on this site.
  23. Hi; I am in Kettering, a suburb of Dayton. Roundel columnist Mike Self lives in Beavercreek -- another Dayton burb. There are quite a few '02 owners in this area. What brings you to Dayton? Is it the air base? We'd be happy to welcome you. We also get together with owners from Columbus, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and N. Kentucky. EDIT: I read that you sell wine for a living. Anyhow -- tell us more, please.
  24. What is your VIN? Yours is exactly like mine was when I bought it in 2003, including the E21 turbine wheels. My VIN is 2365006.
