  1. Re. the Andy & Andi name similarity --- We know a married couple who are both named Robin. I am sure they suffer due to the jokesters at any gtg they attend. Do the 'funny guys' bug you about the Andy/Andi thing??
  2. Vintage is a very friendly, fun event. It is not the Pebble Beach Concours. That doesn't mean we don't like shiny, nearly perfect '02's. However, it isn't terribly important to strive for perfection. Mine spends too much time in the garage --- so, a wonderful opportunity to caravan to Vintage has me eager to drive. You can trailer yours, but think of the fun you'll have DRIVING your '02. You probably don't get to do that enough. Caravan to Vintage, you won't regret it.
  3. Don: how crazy is your weather down there? We have had snow & ice continuously since early December here. We used to have winters that were so mild that we'd hope for more than one snowfall all winter. The local schools have used up the alloted snow days. Maybe I'll see you in Eureka Springs??
  4. I believe in having two sets of rims and two sets of tires, both mounted. I have used Blizzak tires in the winter and have had good luck w/them. In this region we had gotten used to having very wimpy winters for a number of years, but now we have snow on the ground for months on end. When I was a kid, we lived in Alexandria, LA for 5 yrs. We got one dusting of snow in the 5 yrs. there. I suppose they get much more in a 5 yr. span these days.
  5. YaaY! You'll be driving Wolfgang at 99 yrs. of age. By then, you will have to explain to everyone what on earth it is!
  6. The bright red 1960 700 is super! It would cause a sensation at Vintage.
  7. Still haven't seen one of these up close. I've seen so many other rare BMW's, but the 700 eludes me.
  8. I like GOLF. I used to get around in dad's '72 Golf w/black interior, when I wasn't borrowing my sister's '73 Pinto.
  9. Mike Self found one sitting (endlessly) on a driveway not far from his house. It's a fjord squaretail, but rust never sleeps here in the rustbelt. We talked to the owner. Mike told him he'd try to find some one who was eager to tackle a BIG project. It's all there, but neglect is costly here in Ohio. I'd say it will be cheep, cheep, cheep! There is also a '75 automatic here in Kettering that sits neglected on the driveway. Supposedly, the garage has another '02 plus reems of parts, but the eccentric owner won't talk to me. I spoke to his wife and she wants to be rid of all the '02 stuff.... Maybe Mike can work his magic on this dufus.
  10. Interested in the bottlecaps. Just started an acct. on that web page - can't post to it yet.
  11. Definitely time capsules. I don't remember either ad, but I sure remember the cars and the TV stars.
  12. Good Luck, Konrad! It will be less & less Frankenstein as you give it some attention. Keep us posted.
  13. Coincidentally, this happened to me a few months ago. I had to take the driver's door lock-set to the locksmith so that he could make me a new key. The broken pieces of the original key were also twisted, so it was not possible to make a key from the broken key. They keys that he made me work very well.
  14. 1st dibs on driver's seat horsehair cushion Question: is it for a 74-76 2002? Also, it's one piece -- the cushion you put your butt on, right?? THANKS. If it fits a 74-76 seat, I want it.
  15. I got messages on Facebook re. all this crud. WHY? Because a friend of mine has a similar car to one that is part of this molehill. I'm thinking: "Wow, crazy stuff!" I can't decide if it indicates OCD or bipolar disorder. Possibly both?
  16. After dealing with countless dipsticks driving SUV's, microcars are absolutely refreshing. The overcompensating issues just aren't there with a micro!
  17. I'm thinking that this swell guy marked it up x10 from what he paid grandma.
  18. There are a lot of repainted '02's with either Verona or Verona-ish paint on top. (over Sahara usually) In this region, Sahara & Malaga duke it out for the #1 spot. I would say that Chamonix is next, followed by Verona or Agave... Golf, Inka, & Colorado, are pretty rare here. Oddly, Fjord is rare here also. We do have a Turkis roundie close by.
  19. I can't say it any better than the rest have so far; but I am sorry that this has happened. Good luck in setting things right.
  20. Jim, I suspect yours cost a few $$ more than mine, but I got a lot of bang for my used-car buck. I bought an '87 325 eta off of CL in October. The p.o. is an aircraft mechanic, so he used his skills and his very high stds. to thoroughly refurbish the E30. His loss was my gain! It was in Indianapolis, so no expensive shipping was required. Anyhow, enjoy your new toy. There are lots of us on the FAQ with at least one '02 and one E30. (i.e. a large subgroup) The people you meet through the FAQ are 99.5% excellent people, so you should have no worries. BTW: What is MSP?? JIM D.
  21. I'm thinking that Sam Adams owns the Chamonix '75. He's a super guy - his other '02's are excellent, though I've not seen this one.
