  1. All of us in the Dayton area noticed that listing! Good luck! We have a bunch of '02 owners around here, btw. Where do you live? Is this your first '02? Send me your email & I will add you to my list of owners in the region so we can keep you up to date re. gtg's & stuff.
  2. Terrafugia is considering locating their mfg. facilities in the Dayton area. They have not committed to building here, but the story keeps showing up in the news. People are skeptical that flying cars are the answer to the region's economic woes.
  3. Thanks, Spicey & Eagle Eye, whoever you are....??? I found one that I like very much. It wouldn't be prudent to spend several times more for less, would it? (I'd say the BS factor in this Ebay listing is exceedingly high.)
  4. I am merely grinning, so I must have heard Mike's joke before.... Gotcha, Mike!
  5. I am not hearing of many FAQ-types going to this event. Is there anybody besides myself and Tom Madine going? I hope I will run into dozens of you there. I made my room reservations yesterday at the host hotel. Speak up if you want to attend....... Thanks!
  6. I wish I was as fast as you are at getting an '02 straightened out. I've been plugging away since July '03. The 5 year plan turned into a 10 year plan! Anyhow -- excellent progress w/your Verona 74.
  7. I like that look very much with the new wheels & the chrome bumpers, etc. I may steal some of your ideas for my Sahara squaretail.
  8. I looked at some old paperwork today. When I bought mine, it had approx. 157K miles; now it has exactly 181,461 miles. That averages out to approx. 3400 mi./yr. since I purchased it. How does that compare with the rest of you? (edit: I believe my avg. will go up now that the engine is sorted out!)
  9. Fascinating tale, Beej. It doesn't make me miss my '81 Rabbit 'S' too much. It had a mysterious past & some nasty surprises of its own. Mary nearly made selling it a precondition to getting married.
  10. Convince my wife it is a great idea and I 'll fly out to get it.
  11. Wow, everybody perked up on this one. I don't have time this week, but I am sure somebody I know will be all over it. I saw the posting last night while I was at work.
  12. That '02 is a beauty! Happy Dad's day to you. Enjoy some time with your boys. (& the '02)
  13. Our region makes the "silly news" --- hoooray for all silly Ohioan's!
  14. Mine sits in the hospital garage when taken to work. I have a small fan club who encourage me to drive it to work. One woman claims that her cellphone shot of my car that she took has led her son to dream of '02 ownership. We'll see if he eventually joins the ranks of '02 owners. Vintage cars are very seldom seen at this garage. Doctors must prefer the brand new ones over the classics. You'd think maybe an early XKE or a 356, or maybe a CS coupe somewhere in the mix.
  15. Drive by my place & I can wave at you. I get to miss out once again. Next year is going to be my year for '02 events, since this one is not!
  16. If there's a big interest, I have a set of 4 from my '75 ---- vgc. Mike could bring 2 sets w/him if there's a run on old springs!
  17. What did that POS used to be when it was presentable?
  18. I liked the Capri & the SAAB 99. The Capri's must have been rusters, because I haven't seen one in more than 30 yrs. The SAAB seemed to be ahead of its time. I remember my dad test-driving one in the early 70's. Way different than any US-built cars of the time. My sister once dated a guy with a Capri. I think that was a large part of why she went out with him in the 1st place.
  19. Michael: my best advice to you: DON'T GO TO SELECT CLASSICS!!! ( in Dallas ) Make friends with an FAQ person and take them with you when you are looking at '02's for sale. Stay away from SELECT CLASSICS. Dead Serious. If you want to know more about that, do a search.......... AND ----- welcome to the '02 sickness.
  20. I'm getting ahead of myself, BUT, drive it to Eureka Springs, AR next April. If not there, I'll want to see it on my next trip to BR.
  21. KRAP! Sorry that you had such troubles, Craig! I hope that you can get it all sorted out. I figured it'd be LOUD, based on my test-drive. Did it deliver more power after you tweaked it? Best of luck & Keep us Posted!
  22. Project creep, even with tail light rebuilds - that happened to me also. I had one bulb that kept failing on the driver's side. That led to dissassembly of both tail lights, cleaning, new gaskets, new bulbs, the need for a better tail light assembly on the driver's side (thanks M. Pugh!), a couple replacement (used) lenses, and finally spraying both tail light assemblies with Chrome aluminum paint. It turned out well in the end.
  23. I missed the earlier post, complete w/scenes from the film. I too noticed the Squaretail/Roundie mistake quickly. But, I learned that RAF doesn't only stand for Royal Air Force. (Red Army Front) And I learned that Baader is NOT pronounced "BAY-der." (it's more like "Bah-der")
  24. Just watched it today. It's very violent, but it's also very informative regarding the Red Army Faction during '67 - '77. You will see a few '02's in the movie. You'll also see some older M-B, Audi's, VW's, Opel's, etc. Not a movie you'd take your date to, it's definitely disturbing.
